    As always - artistry. Love seeing you work. Can't say I like those front flares though. If anything, I'd have gone with flares with cutouts/vents on the rear side, not cut into the rear of the inner fender and close out panel, like the Beemer race cars had. That would have saved the rear close outs, too. As it sits, they just add drag. Not your doing, I know: owner calls the shots, eh?

    I was watching and thinking why you were welding then cutting and I thought it's to get it flush but I would ask, you beat me to it. Great job Steve, a work mate years ago came out of the Army with nis car from Germany and sold it for a tidy sum that paid for a Rover SD1 that he had his wide arches fitted so he could have wide Alley Cat wheels that looked the biz fitted, but the arches had that much filler over the welding the body shop wouldn't spray it. so he himself sanded it off and found some self tappers and rivet's back it went .

    So,
    After all those years making great video's and doing many cars; what is your suggestion regarding the best products to use to avoid rust after your job? Do you use Dinitrol rust converter after cleanup, then spraying your new pieces with some kind of Inox spray, and eventually spray some dinitrol again over your welded surface? Do you have a video on what products to use exactly? I'm sure you have seen many cars coming back with or without rust after a repair so I really wonder what your opinion is on this. Thanks in advance! Keep up the great work. I learn much from it!😊

    Steve, you initially mentioned having to modify the internal support to match the flares, but in the end you cut rear off the flares. Does this not adjust the profile along the rear edge? interested in your reasoning for changing the plan.

    The gap at the top of the door on both sides suggests that the rear of the targa chassis has flexed downwards slightly has I'm sure your aware that it's tension strengthened

    • @yorkshirecarrestoration
      @yorkshirecarrestoration  Місяць тому +2

      The gap isn't at the top it's all the way down and that's because I haven't replaced the shimms, if the chassis had flexed there would be an uneven gap and the top of the door wouldn't be level. Also I'm sure you also didn't notice the door on the nearside locked on the catch easily. That wouldn't happen if the chassis had flexed. But thank you for watching.

    Have you ever had weld flash? Why I'm asking is you hardly use your mask. I've had it, and it stings like a sun off a beach. I was making a recovery body out of new steel and me trying to cut corners. I was using my sunglasses and they didn't work so I had to go to the hospital to get my eyes numbed with eye drops

    Why at all modify for wider arches, when the original looks even better.
    Not to reduce the work you´re doing, cause it´s perfect, and you have to adopt to customer requirements. Rather to preserve the gorgeous original Porsche looks.
