Great footage of a very special day for me, one which I will never forget. Big thanks to Matt for such a great present. A very special few days for me.
Great stuff Mike, what a superb birthday present for your lad, I reckon that's a day he will never forget, and what a great view from the cab, well done....Bill
84asrd84boxy I loved it Bill especially when its time to power up. Missed a lot of filming out to keep it interesting all the time. Thanks for your interest Mike.
What a great Birthday Present for your Son Mike.A super experience for him to drive a Class 37 and better still having his Dad filming it as well.A like from me and i really enjoyed the trip...Cheers.....Trevor.''
Great birthday present ! Great thrash up the ski slope Mike ,I bet you would have liked a go..I know I certainly would, mind you it's always been my ambition to take a western from Exeter to Newton Abbott
I drove my first 37 when I was a fireman at eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow 1974 I was only 19 years old my uncle was a mainline driver at eastfield and on many occasions on the night shift he would let me drive on the ghost train to Oban from Queen street or triple headers with massive coal trains from barrassie in Ayrshire
Days you will never forget Thomas, I would have loved to had a camcorder in them days. Thank you very much for sharing these memories from the 70s, and thanks for watching this video.
antman09ful1 Highly recommended Mike - I have done driver days on class 55 and 33 at Swanage and 33 at Spa Valley, I would like to do a few more types yet.Cheers, Bob.
Had Tractor 418 in InterCity Swallow back in 2019 with Tractor 407 on the Norwich- Great Yarmouth Workings. And like in this video the Weather was amazing.
Know what you mean mate, I went over to Norfolk many times towards the end of them great tractors working them services, which you can watch on my channel. Thanks for your interest in this video of our day on the ELR.
You welcome mate. Hopefully I'll have some more Tractor Action soon at my Two Locol Railways South Devon and Paignton & Dartmouth. Which will be going onto UA-cam
Great stuff but it's time thay got the numbers and arrows on it its out at the diesel gala this wkd and there's another large logo 37 coming for the event let's hope thay get it sorted for the enevatable double header.
Oh did you, I bet you got a little dirty sometimes, and that loco is now on the mainline. Amazing how things change mate. Thanks for watching and your comment.
Though I am an electrification aficionado -- and advocate -- this would be fun to drive. If only I could get a chance at driving this once on this line! Only thing I like about diesel (though I feel they no longer have a real functional place in railways these days as electrification is much more efficient and most of all environmental) I do love to hear two or more of same engines running together. I understand that many of these Deltic series do have twin engines. I would love to be in engine room and hear these run together! (I know, rare chance for that)! BTW I do have N3V Games Auran Trainz and sound and driving is surprisingly accurate. Thus I have driven these on my sim so I have at least simulator experience in driving both electrics (of course) and, well... diesel -- .inclusive of these Deltics.
The thrash more commonly known as THE MOST AWESOME PART OF DIESEL TRAINS takes up the majority of this video and is the totally awesome sound produced by a diesel engine under max power. It is at its best on a steep gradient or inside a tunnel. Oh and also BRING ON THE THRASH!!!!!!!!!!!! >:D
He's one very lucky & jammy sod to get the opportunity to drive my all time favourite diesel locomotive a CLASS 37 O..K fair enough he didn't go very far with it or at full chat ( full speed ) But, i think personally he did quit well & getting to uncouple the coaches from the locomotive can be very DANGEROUS!!! but, he also did well with that. He did have the experts with him to show on how to do things correctly & SAFELY!!!. I'M SO BLOODY JEALOUS!!! of him. 🙄😒😒😒😒😠
Well I do understand how you are thinking, thanks for your comment and for watching. Not sure if I should say this, but I had a drive of a 37 back in 2019 on the GWSR. Anyone can have a drive if they have got the money, but you have to book up early to get a place.
@@antman09ful1 Depends on as to where it is price is no problem although i still asking as how much for about how long you get with it ( the locomotive class 37 is the one i would most like to TRY to get aboard as i have bad legs so walking & climbing is difficult but, not impossible ........YET!!! But, could be in the near future sadly!!! not so sure as to when . 🤔😲😟🙁
He drove her, like my Dad used too. Hard !! That's a Compliment..
Look at that Grin on his face . Priceless.
Yeah Ian he had a great day.

Dan O'Rourke Thank you for watching Dan.
This locomotive will now be returned to the main line with Colas Railfreight.
I know this was mentioned a while back but don't know if it will still go ahead. Thanks for input mate.
It has been taken by a colas 60, it is going to happen. The 60 amd 37 piloted 40135 which was on a heywood service.

Fair enough, thanks for your views.
Some great sounds there. I like the gardening gloves, a useful accessory. Did you have possession of the line for that, or were other trains running?
AndreiTupolev Bit on the big side Andrei, but thanks for taking a interest in this video.
Nice! I never get jealous, i am now jealous !
Sorry about that DJ
HI THERE.WHAT ENGINES DO THE 37s AND 40s HAVE?
English Electric.
THANK YOU FOR LETTING MY KNOW.I THOUGHT THEY WERE SULTZERS OF BRUSH.WHAT MODELS ARE THEY PLEASE.
Take a look at class 37 on Wikipedia. Some good general info on there. Most used EE’s own engine design but a handful had Mirlees power units.
Is 'thrash' the bit at the front of the train?

Couldn't agree More! Currently the Norwich to Great Yarmouth service are using two of these old trains, one at each end of three coaches.
Thanks for your spot on comment.
nice flange squeal
Oh Yes.
10:00 BRING ON THE THRASH!!!!!!! >:D
Thanks for watching.
