- We heard about a tribal medicine man in Wayanad, Kerala, who uses all natural healing practices. But we also heard about his special drink that makes you happy in the head. When we finally met Vellan, the experience was just what we expected.
Vellan's healing process uses bamboo strips, sacred oil, and the chanting of mantras. But healing isn't his only forte. We went out hunting for ingredients, and took a culinary journey with the Medicine Man from Wayanad.

Great story would have loved to see more content in this particular story. I would like to mention that there is a similar incantation ritual with the bamboo in Mayong a tribal part of Assam reputed for occult practices. Quite interesting to see the same repeated here.

there is thanthra associated with it , being a Muslim i used to think that they are all trash, i realized my mistake only after seeing it with my own eyes. while worshipping a diety hindus consider thanthra and manthra ways , manthra will be followed in most of the temples , while coming to thanthra there are two paths in thanthra vamachara and dakshinachara , , vamachara deals with ritualistic sacrifice of animals , alcohol, ganza etc , dakshinachara deals with manthra which consists of beejakshara , both are powerful in their own ways . while coming to my experience , when i am in remote village of uttarakhand as a tourist i experienced muscle tare due to an accident . one sadhu who was 6foot 4inch tall came to me and gave me two leaves asked me to eat them, while I am consuming it with doubted face, he laughed and recited manthra , and gave me one a sip of water by pouring it on my right hand from his copper utensil, , miraculously i was cured and walked for next 10kms to reach my base camp . he gave me a copper coin, which consists of om written on it , during the second trip i went to the same spot to find him, people said no such person existed,i was disappointed,, and i am back to Hyderabad. that copper coin is still in my wallet, i consider him as my guru , his face still visible before my eyes , he is 6 foot 4 inches tall ( can be more ) , he is strong , age above 60 years, his body was covered with ash , he as rudraksha mala, long white beard, his nerves in the arms are bulging , bright eyes, he never spoke , his teeth are intact , he has shivanamam , i narrated everything to villagers and my guide, one old man in our camp who cooks the food said , he is Lord Shiva , i believe so , my wife is pregnant now , i will name my son as Shiva ,

I wish you had asked him more about the bamboo shafts merging as they did. I would have been very interested in hearing his comments on the mechanics of such things. That said, above all else, enjoyed this very much and thank you for making the efforts to show us parts of the world that many of us might not otherwise see.
