    I have never been to Israel but having met some folk who live there and were visiting family abroad where I live I noticed how nice and open they were. Even though they were just family of the neighbor they were so nice and involved with those around them. It may be a small country but its people are greater than many others. I wish safety and peace to you all. May you spread the love of life. :)

    When I was younger, I supported the stereotypical left wing anti-Israel position. After meeting Israelis, learning about Israeli history, I changed my mind around age 35 - now I support Israel's existence, and am not ashamed to say I am a Zionist - because I understand what it actually means now.

    What isn't mentioned is that a lot of the factors that make Israel one of the happiest countries are deeply rooted in Judaism and religion. The communities, which historically were based around shuls, the sense of purpose which comes from religion and tradition, and our sense of responsibility to one another which is also taught through religious Judaism. Israel is the mix of the best of both worlds, east and west, but we must not let ourselves fall too deep into either side. We can't become fundamentalists like our Islamic neighbors, or fall into liberal insanity like we see in the west.

    I met last year a jewish guy and the first time that we talk, I was pretty amazed by his sense of community !
    He was involved in a lot of associations, helping people in need, rescuing abused pets and more. A very open, kind and extraverted person that felt alive when surrounded by people, especially in hard times. Being in communion with others was his medicine.
    This video showed me that it was probably not just his character but his jewish culture that helped him to shape the wonderful person that he is. And I love that this mindset is cultural! I never saw it anywhere else and this is truly beautiful !

OK, gotta admit that the economy and the social welfare system is good, but it doesn't have tight-nit communities like Israel. We're so happy because when we're mad at a driver, or a neighbor, we start progressively talking louder and louder at eachother until each side has received a piece of the other side's mind. At a certain point, each side realizes when its enough and leave. After all that yelling at eachother, we yell all the anger out.
    Basically for a moment we get so mad at someone who annoyed us that we just yell the anger out

A guy who we later found out was accused as an Israeli collaborator used an m16 on our house , he had to go unalive a family to prove he wasn’t a collaborator, the police told us. The adults of the neighborhood fought back. This was right on the border of Israel proper & Judea and Samaria “West Bank”. Israelis are happy people, but they also are one of the countries that use benzodiazepines (tranquilizers) the most - or I should say have the most people prescribed - I’m guessing because some people can’t stand the sirens and rockets.

    The youth groups, are there some that are multi-religious with Jewish, Christian, Druze and Muslim Israeli kids? And is the birthrate the same across the religious lines?

    • @niv2516
      @niv2516 3 дні тому +6

      A secular family in Israel consists of 3 children and a dog. Muslims around that rate without the dog .Bedouins and Orthodox Jews have an average of 6 children. Bedouins marry multiple wives.

    • @mbassan
      @mbassan 3 дні тому +4

      I should also add that, even though not common, there are youth groups and schools that are different dedicated to incorporating both Jews and Arabs, and even sometimes Palestinians (no Israeli Arabs). However, any peace movements here have received a very serious blow from Oct 7. Most Arab Israelis seem committed to coexist, but the Palestinians... Nearly impossible to believe in coexistence with them now.

      Yes in mixed communities the are youth groups that integrate together, even with such emphasis.
      Hand in hand, the schooling system is that each one has it's own school in their own language, so less integration happens in schools (though there're schools that mixed on purpose). Compared to the West the balance is shifted towards preserving cultures, languages and relegions rarher than mixing/integrating. This is deeply rooted in Jewish history, that we don't beleive in coercive assimilation.

      There are hills, mountains, lakes, rivers, desert, towns and other things that will make walking hard. Unlike a road which is cleared from all those obstacles and is faster. And even if you take the road by u will have to take rests which will make you go off road and make the trip longer. So yeah it takes time. Maybe not 2 months but at least a month

      @angusmackaskill3035 is it wilful ignorance or a conscious lie?
      I'm surprised that an expert in the history of the region like you, doesn't know about Glubb Pasha the Englishman who trained (badly according to the results) the Arabs militias against Jews.
      Glubb Pasha retired with honours while Orde Wingate who decided to help the Jews against his hierarchy was sacked.
      So you have a little Idea how much GB "helped" Israel despite the engagement they took after WWI as a gage of gratitude for the massive enrollment of Jews in the British Legion and the help of Haim Weizmann a biochemist whose discovery of cordite was crucial in the Allies victory.
