They don’t even bother offering EH anymore. It’s transitional housing, help with a bond for private rental or sorry can’t help you and reach out to friends and family
yup. Nact has never told the truth: the only things they've campaigned on and intended to do in my lifetime have been the unpopular things (like asset sales and racism)
The previous Labour-led government's reckless policies led to a staggering 336% increase in emergency housing waitlists. In December 2017, around 670 households were in emergency housing, but by December 2023, this number had ballooned to approximately 3,100 households. Their incompetence resulted in vulnerable individuals and families being crammed into ill-suited motel facilities, rife with social issues like addiction and mental health problems. Rotorua, in particular, was transformed into a slum-like emergency motel hub, plagued by crime and substance abuse. Ministers like Carmel Sepuloni should be ashamed of their role in creating this crisis, and Kieran's hypocrisy is appalling. The current National-led coalition government has been left to clean up this mess, along with the numerous other problems Labour dumped on them. Shame on Labour for their egregious failure!
Wah wah. Labours fault. I really don't think changing the way you measure the numbers in emergency housing and responding I don't know when asked where the other thousands of people went is any solution at all.
@@stuchatterton6550 The previous Labour government's handling of emergency housing was an utter disaster. Placing vulnerable tenants, including families and children, in ill-equipped motel units that are below standard for long-term accommodation is unacceptable. These slum-like conditions, where tenants with severe social issues like drug and alcohol abuse are housed alongside families, pose a significant danger to children. It's appalling that the Labour government prioritized quantity over quality, dumping thousands of people into these subpar facilities without a care for their well-being. Their lack of foresight and negligence have led to a crisis that continues to harm those most in need.
@@danielphillips4399 And where would you have put them while supply caught up? I note that under labour 12,000 new houses were built, whereas under National how many exactly was that....? I am absolutely sure that knobbling Kainga Ora and letting the market sort it out is no solution at all.

They have cut back on building state houses and fired people at Kainga ora.
This government does give a dam for the people they are supposed to help it is shameful. Should feel embarrassed when they get their paycheck.
I am looking forward to the next Election Leaders debate.
