Jordan Mailata vs Falcons

- You know it's football season when the Mailata breakdowns are back!
First game after signing af 4 year extension, and he continued where he left off in 2020 - by showing better and better technique, strong punches, and supreme athleticism. Oh and the man found of it's easier to pull defenders to the ground when they get too low in bullrushes.

Jeff Stoutland trained Jordan, a guy who 3 years ago never put on football pads, to being a starting left tackle in the NFL who replaced a future HOF player in Peters. One hell of a feat for both of them.
Imagine if he makes the pro bowl
All I have to say is Jordan mailata you are the man..👍👍👍
Great game but it was the falcons they probably have the worst pass rushers in the league if he can hold up this week vs the 9ners I think we can say he’ll be a stud
To think our 7th rd pick outplayed and beat our 1st rd pick from the same draft at the same position. The birds need to draft better. Gotta get value for Dillard now while we can. Trade him for anything. A janitor if that's all that's offered.
@@brianmcintyre503 if they cant get a 2nd or better I'd bet they keep him as backup
He looks like he has been doing this his whole life. From the niners game last season where he looked good but rough to this is almost like watching a different player. His mistakes are so subtle and few are made at all. He looks settled and just blends in with the vets in the line. Amazing to watch.
He still needs some more game experience but hes still very young. The sky is really the limit for him.
Man, I have been checking UA-cam regularly since that game waiting for this breakdown...
Good shit man... Cheers
I'm an Aussie NFL nut, so happy FINALLY having an Australian doing well in the NFL that isn't a f**king kicker... lol
Well done Jordan, but a BIGGER well done to the Eagles for taking a chance with this young man. He is special person, and deserves to leave his mark on the world...
Same here. Aussie Packers fan, but following this channel keenly as you call it good, bad or indifferent. Like the summaries. Jordan has definitely improved a lot from last year. You can see he isnt getting pushed back anywhere near as much.
im from sydney and when mailata was drafted i thought nothing of him. now he's like a top tier lineman shit is crazy
For future weeks: all 22 drops on Tuesday, so you dont have to check before that 👍
Legend... I'll be following. Cheers
What is continually NOT mentioned about Mount Jordan, is that he's really smart. People have no idea how complex the Eagles blocking schemes are because of the continual mix of run, RPO, and passing. On any given play, an offensive lineman might have 2-3 blocking assignments. Extremely complex offensive playbook and he seems to have mastered it. The guy is not only huge...he's agile and smart and thank God so far...immune from serious injury.
Jordan is well spoken and socially intelligent. His brains are seldom talked about.
Does he just pancake LITERALLY everyone that goes up against him? This is absolutely insane. How does this not get more recognition HES LITERALLY OVERPOWERING and SITTING on everyone that tries him. This is crazy. Future HOF
Yeah I though same. He was sitting on every rusher the whole game. A lot of plays went other way but I was watching the LT spot and he was just sitting on them.
Let's not go overboard. This is the Falcons defense.
@@alfarabi73 mediocre players dont usually dominate bad players. hell even just good players dont usually dominate like this. mailata is imposing, plain and simple
time will tell how good he is, but he was great today, and in 5 days hell be matching up with nick bosa. if hes anywhere close to as good as he was here then, well, we can pretty safely say this guy is the real deal
@@HughMungus4655 Good call. Bosa will be a test.
@@alfarabi73 These are still NFL players
Yooo so glad you're making more videos this year. Best place to go to get the X's and O's recapped for the eagles
I've noticed Jordan getting better at being 'square' to the defensive player, and being more balanced in how he positions his feet.
Definitely gotten better. You can tell he is till more comfortable when the end is lined up 3, 4, and 5, rather than those tricky wide 9.
Bosa is going to feed on this Mailata✌🏻👊🏻
@@jahmaga9215 bro bosa consistently gets bodied by big, athletic linemen. Bosa is probably the most effective rusher in the league when he can consistently play on a tackles flaws, but he gets shut down by the guys who have the athletic talent and size to keep up with his technique.
A little playing time goes a long way. U learn from drills but then doing it at full speed in a real game is what's gonna put him on his way to greatness. Hes an athletic freak.
@@jahmaga9215 do u think they dont have a plan for bosa? Maybe a te or rb chip. I doubt the eagles are gonna leave it one on one if mailiata is getting beat early
Mailata is a monster and I wish him the greatest success in the NFL as a Ozzie so happy for this young man
Crazy how Pederson & co didn’t play him more last season. A bunch of us were asking why……. Great job REAL technical analysis and breakdown of every play not just highlights I’ve been looking for this subscribed!
Good point but Pederson not head coach anymore is he !!🤔🤔
Thank you man, and welcome aboard!
what?
"The 24-year-old appeared in each of the Eagles' first 15 games last year before he missed the final game of the season with a concussion."
@@robharris6874 I miss Dougie P.
@@anthonypatterson8796 Jason Peters was the named starter and Mailata backup. We all knew Peters was cooked. But he was the starter. And he couldn't finish a game so Mailata had to come in. I think he also may have done some reps for Lane Johnson. He played as a backup until Peters was FINALLY shelved (and since Peters couldn't play a full game yes, Mailata got on the field in all those games - with no prep of course). He should have been the starter from day one but Doug always preferred the washed up veteran like Peters or Alshon over a promising young player. A big part of why he's not here anymore.
Man I really love your content, as a mexican who also happens to be an eagles fan really enjoy learning from you and other guys that breaks film down.
Really hope to bring something like this to all the fans in my country
Go for it buddy!
Thanks for this video, great work. I was Lmao wathcing Mailata, just throwing these huge powerful guys around. It different but good watching him and the ball as well. I m still enjoying this.
Mailata has really nailed that pulling maneuver on guys who are trying to power into his chest. It's so cool to see him develop that. Last year, he would sometime lose on a good (but over-committed) bullrush. And defenders clearly see that in his tape, so they're going hard at full extension. Sadly, for them, he's figured out the counter to it during the offseason. So he pulls them down and sits on them. Hah!
Incredible vid. Thanks for doing this. And that Semaoula touchdown block was incredible.
Brilliant dude.
Loving the content as a person that grew up in a rugby country....helps me understand the game.
I was hoping you were going to assess Mailata ever since the last game so thanks a bunch man.
Im glad you can use it!
Been waiting for a video like this!! Shoutout to you and the new bodyguard
I noticed in preseason, but particularly now in the first full game, how much more polished his movements are looking - particularly his feet but also his technique overall. Seems to have clearly improved from last season. He appears a lot more confident about his game in press conferences now too. Next challenge is the 49ers who I read have a better defensive line, so I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for doing these great breakdowns.
Your video break downs are gems bro..keep up the great work and thanks.
The best Australian athlete in Philadelphia 👀
lol.. still can't believe Simmons passed instead of dunking that shit
Simmons is a dweeb. Mailata is intelligent and likeable.
Shout out to Siposs too....
Thybulle and Siposs are good. There is nobody else of note.
Great stuff - can I suggest adding an intro and summary at end? Major takeaways? Strengths/weaknesses/projections. Especially relevant for Jordan given the new contract and his inexperience. Good value if he keeps this up? That kind of thing. Keep up the good work.
Agree
YES!! I’ve been waiting for this. Thank you!
So freaking cool you do videos like this, Mailatas my boy and I'm glad his getting the recognition his getting and deserves!!!
Glad you like them man!
Favorite Eagles channel BY FAR. Great breakdown. Keep up the great work. Fan from Australia.
Thanks Duncan!
Awesome vid. Mailata is the one to watch for so many reasons. Talented on and off the field and a great story out of Australia where they play 4 codes of football but NFL is not one of them.
Yes & we only have 25 million people that`s the crazy part, US footy is played in a few of the capital city`s !
Yo man, just stumbled upon your channel randomly the other day, you put out awesome content, keep it up. I'm a die-hard green-blooded birds fan, but my overall knowledge of offensive line techniques and execution was moderate at best. I've loved getting more insight into this side of each play, so I just wanted you to know your work is being appreciated. Go Birds
Hey! I just found your content and it's F&^%ing great! I'll go watch all of them now. Such detailed analysis of technique and WHY he's winning or losing a rep. I'm a lifelong Eagles fan now living in Stockholm, so it's cool to see the scandinavian connection too.
Please keep up the videos! Much appreciated.
Appreciate that Michael! Welcome on board!
Finally waiting for this and you did this before last season it was on point
Looks like seumalo getting better
It’s gonna be sad to kelce go but imagine landon Dickerson in the middle off that line 😩
Kelce leaving will be a dark day indeed
W kelce n stout grooming him it’s only right he steps in there after
This is masterful bro, your work is underrated!
Appreciate that!
Mailata messes with my perspective of how large and fast some of these defenders are, as he makes them all look "normal" sized and slower than they actually are. I can't wait to see how he goes this season. I think I need to get a custom "Highway 68" jersey made up.
Awesome vid, as usual. I love your attention to detail.
Bro I love your breakdowns you got a future in this bizz. Keep it up I'll be seeing you on ESPN soon enough.
Nah man, he is too good for that mainstream bullshit... Do his own channel with a team of like minded people and show ESPN how it should be done!
This is the video I've been waiting for. BTB dosen't disappoint
THE AUSSIE BEAST!!!!! 🦅🙏🏻 The new Bodyguard
I love these break downs!
You have my subscription. Was looking for breakdown videos for online. I found it. Thanks.
Welcome, Taylor!
His story can literally be a hit I theaters for sure what a story
The video I was waiting for!
This video is amazingly informative! This is my type of language, you most definitely have a new subscriber here 👍
Welcome on board!
How you don’t have at least a million subs escapes me . Keep up the great work
It's so crazy because I remember when you first started and wasn't getting the recognition you deserve. And now you're getting more and I still think you should receive even more man! I love my Eagles but I think you could do this with the best of em talking about all teams!!
It's a fricken good breakdown... Agree, deserve more recognition
Appreciate you my guy and thanks for sticking around since the beginning!
Churr cuzzy. Great explanation of what's happening. Looking forward to more vids bro. Best wishes from NZ cuzzy
Great breakdown thanks
Was waiting for this
Thank you, very informative 👍
Love this video and love the Foles jersey in the background!
Thank you for doing this video!!!
Anytime Kevin!
Excellent work!
Thanks Benjamin!
He was a rugby player that's why he has that physical playstyle and blocking skills
Sorry to be pedantic, but he was a 'Rugby League' junior for 12 games, not a 'Rugby' player, which is Rugby Union, two different games. He didn't have the endurance and speed to last in either game, and way to big. Much easier when you know exactly who you are going to tackle, where he is going to be, not run too far etc and be the biggest bloke around. Can't see the thrill in this.
Still no matter if its pro, semi pro or amateur rugby, he was a rugby player, that's my point, if you're a player you then know the system and the rules. He's not great in rugby but probably his skillset from what he learned from Rugby could be also utilized in NFL. If you're playing a soccer at highschool you are a former or a soccer player, though unprofessionally
@@colinj5099 you can't doubt his skillset is better utilized in NFL
@Wait What? Whatever...no I haven't , because I don't shovel food down my throat to be 180kg or whatever he is. The bloke couldn't play rugby league and within three years he apparently mastered the fine art of tackling , waiit for it, one bloke, the same bloke without a ball, who is trying to tackle one same other bloke with the ball. Yes, the so called magic playbook , played by the lowest IQ.
Your'e welcome.
Awesome video bro.
Really nice to see his progression over the past 12 months. Next up are the 49ers with Nick Bosa, which will probably be his biggest test so far
Really nice breakdown as always man
Thanks, Chris!
Excellent breakdown of the big man. One thing that is key, Hurts gets the ball out quicker than Wentz did. That shortens the time the O-line has to maintain their blocks.
Exactly, good point. Even now in Indy the line is being criticized for not blocking very well.
I know its early but I can't help but be excited about his team .
Regardless of who they played ..the coaches had this team dialed in to play ..
They had more answers than questions .
I might like the teabag at 4:23 even more than his block on Reagor's screen TD.
There is that zen saying that says you first have to empty your cup before learning something new. Jordan Mailata came to the Eagles as an empty cup blank slate use any metaphor…. He brought no bad habits or ingrained techniques that Stoutland needed to change… He has been able to mold and continue to mold Jordan into the ultimate offensive lineman.
Well said
@@mikeoxitchy5765 thank you… and of course it is a two way street… The teacher truly is only as good as the student…. And Jordan Mailata exhibits a voracious desire to learn and his heartfelt respect and love he showed Coach Stoutland when he thought he was leaving the Eagles-exemplified Jordan as a person who appreciates a knowledgeable taskmaster who has his players interest at heart. To truly learn and excel at anything… a person requires that combination of confidence and humbleness…to know he will succeed while being vulnerable enough to “fail” along the journey and keep getting up and becoming better… I may be caught in the moment of hyperbole, but I truly believe this “perfect storm” of coach and player will lead Jordan to legendary heights…I am definitely not a jersey wearing guy-am 50 but even when I was 20-I didn’t wear jerseys. My only jersey wanted as a kid was a number 34 Houston Oilers Earl Campbel and the one I will buy as an adult is the number 68 Jordan Mailata.
Stoked for Mailata vs Bosa
Blimey he would have been a big unit in the NRL - good luck to you and your team in the NFL mate
NRL is some league at the moment , the Penrith Parramatta game yesterday was brutal
Great stuff as always my guy. One thing on the hopping skip play at 11:07ish is that is a technique for rebalancing yourself as an o-lineman. It’s called pitch forking, because if you get caught up high and lose leverage (like you pointed out) you hop backwards to regain positioning. That’s what I believe he was attempting but definitely could be wrong!
You're absolutely right, it's a way of getting out of a bad situation. Hopefully there'll be less of that and more power step when taking on the bullrushers. Really enjoy watching how he punch/pulled defenders down when they get too low in their bullrush to take away all their momentum
That samoan great wall on the left looking solid.
Love the breakup of an Aussie doing well. Could you include a review of Siposs as well.
I'm glad Howie went with his instincts instead of his heart to not only start him but sign him.
Definitely all pro potential here! His talent level is amazing!
Mailata is the future! I love his game!
Lets gooo more great content
This dude could be one of the Greats. Crazy that he never played before.
kelce at 2:53 ... perfection
Great video. How do you access this footage?
Future HOF
His like a giant moving wall with no entry written on it !!
This was a good game by him but our entire oline is gonna be challenged this week
This dude is a beast
Stout also scouts these guys - props
Dudes only 24 years old. Only gonna keep getting better
hell yes!
Man his trainer is the goat for this wow
Look at the block by Gainwell at 3:48 what a pickup by the rookie. That's gonna get him more snaps for sure.
Hey Thomas, how freekin good is it he's still getting better,. He just "steamrolled" that poor bloke in the last quarter 😂 as always, love your analysis, keep it up & thanks coach 👍
It's amazing that he just keeps developing, Pab! We'll continue monitoring it this year for sure!
The Great Wall of Mailata
The Niners game will really be a measuring stick for this o-line.
Who disliked this? Great breakdown
Yup, another great Mailata breakdown by you. I can’t wait for this week against Bosa and Ford. I hope the Eagles kick their asses up front.
Thank you!
Wow! My uso!!!
@9:08 wow look at that pocket can’t ask for any cleaner mailata LT Johnson RT and our O line is a fortress let’s stay healthy
Huge test for him coming up against the 49ers d-line
Good to watch the uce doing good
I'd really like to see him used as a goal line back.
This crossed my mind a few years ago before he was the starter, with his rugby background it would’ve been cool to see. As the full time LT, I’d rather see him stay there instead of potentially getting hurt on a toss play.
That would be amazing
this oline is aging a little but so fucking solid. super excited to see them ball out this year
Gainwell is really good as a blocker
Goddamn he a beast sheesh. He reminds me of tra thomas only bigger and thats saying something because tra thomas was 6'7 355 lbs
Gainwell also looked in pass pro
I heard Nelson didn’t have a good game or a bad game vs. Falcons. How he do?
Mr. Nimble!
Subscibed again 😂
😂
Where the play where he made the one arm no look block and then took on a second guy?
That was on the Smith TD. On the box view from all 22 it looks like he made minimal contact and the DL falling was more a result of a poorly timed spin move, that's why I didn't include it :)
@@ThomasRinggaard gotcha, looked crazy in real time. I'm so freaking impressed with stout and steich. This is some next level play, super excited this for this year.
This would make a great video for the four seasons song 'ragdoll'
How do you think he does against Bosa
Mount Mailata 💰💰💰
6th round pick 🤩🤩
Is laying on top of him holding?
I think I might have asked this before
I notice a few things:
1) His extreme first step from the last two years has been reduced. While it was impressive for a man his size, it was mostly unnecessary with his feet. IMO, he protects against the inside better because of it.
2)While his punch is very good, it's only average when you consider his size and length. And it's mostly used defensively...I'd like to see it used as a weapon more in the run game.
But overall, extremely impressive for a player already playing at a high level, with a lot of growth potential remaining due to lack of experience, and a clear willingness to hone his craft (which I hope remains after the contract settles).
I think we will see your second point as this offense gets more comfortable
@@Chillehhhh Agreed. Excited to see continued growth by him and the offensive scheme. Encouraged by both already.
Gainwell at 3:56 love to see it
Beautiful block!
He’s exceeded any possible expectations. His ceiling is the next Anthony Munoz.
