    Glad to see this. I tried the Smite priest and i had a blast....BUT, because my guild was lacking dps, i was kind of "forced" to get back shadow and tbh, i hate it!!! I love the versatility that this spec offers....you can either dps or just support the healers in case they need help...but the game doesn't really promote or help the "hybrid-support" specs like this one. It's sad...... Imo, it offers an opportunity to people like me, who are not super great dpser or super great healer, to do something useful in raids (support healers, dpsing OK, bringing spirit buff, etc...)..... I struggle a lot atm with my shadow priest for multiple reasons. I think the fact that i hate it so much doesn't help...but if i want to be included in raids with my guild, i don't have a choice atm....

    Thanks for the awesome video! There is a shortage of Smite Priest content everywhere, so I glad to see this video. :)
    I wanted to ask one more question about possible PvP Talent distribution.
    Is it viable to almost giving up Discipline for 21 points in Shadow (for Blackout and Silence - more control options) and 33 in Holy (for Blessed Resilience)?
    I saw your BG spec in the comment below and tried to resolve this problem about Silence absence.

    • @pojothefuego9588

      I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, there is very few good sources out there for smite. Let alone sources at all. Shoutouts to Priestease who was pioneering the spec 13 years ago!
      Taking Silence for PvP is absolutely an option and has been seen in smite-weaving priests in classic. TBC Arena this is a very strong choice even sparking some controversy on Endless tournaments as RMP (Rogue Mage Priest) comps were run with the healer using silence creating unbelievable control/CC. The biggest thing I promote is understanding the trade-off through the talent system. Taking the points from Discipline will deny you the buffs and mana sustain from your build. If you sacrifice 21 points from holy you lose burst, base damage, and healing capability. Each build has their with pros and cons. Taking Shadow will make you an offensive juggernaut.

    I personally was planning on doing Nelf myself because 1. My classic priest is one and i'll just "inherit him" when tbc launches, 2. They're the dude that looks the best in a dress alliance side. and 3. Starshards. Classic Starshards is actually pretty neat because it gives non-shadow priest a viable mana efficient attack to use, but I've never crunched the numbers on tbc starshards.
    That being said, i'm heavily considering draenei for the extra utility their racials provide. what's basically a free aoe Mana pot every 5 mins is nothing to scoff at.

    Ok while I disagree with using spirit tap it still seems really odd that you would opt for 4/5 in FoW & 4/5 in SG rather than going 3/5 & 5/5. The conversion of Spirit to SP is doubly useful if you are going for Spirit Tap since a Spirit tap proc doubles your spirit giving a DPS boost.

    • @pojothefuego9588
      @pojothefuego9588  2 роки тому

      Heya! The main problem solving behind choosing spirit tap is to take advantage of both the high spirit value of T4-5 gear and further band-aid the mana struggles as a result of low item levels. Force of Will is certainly a stronger talent as aside from the Crit, the % damage will “bypass” the coefficient wall vs the spellpower gained from spiritual guidance. Many encounters from Kara-Hyjal have boss adds or aoe that allow for passive chances at spirit tap, giving you a sturdy boost compared to the consistent value of SG.

    Hi, great video! I have a few questions... Did you know how trinkets like Bangle of Endless Blessings, the Blue Dragon Card, or the Priest T5 class trinket would work out in this spec? I image the spirit on use effect to be great with Spirit Tap. You said the spec would scale well, but can it really keep up with other caster specs in t5 and beyond?

    • @pojothefuego9588
      @pojothefuego9588  3 роки тому

      Smite is dirty when min/maxed. Trinkets like Bangle of Endless Blessings and Blue Dragon Card are very worthwhile, and I use them both for long aoe sustain fights, or ones like Prince. (Also PLEASE communicate with your group/healer if you're after the Bangles trinket) Bangles is good in specific fights, I still prefer a dps trinket if the mana can manage. I want to emphasize these trinkets should be healers first in terms of loot prio.

For race Undead is the best since fears are abundant and sometimes unavoidable even while pillar humping. An alternate choice could also be bloodelf for an instant manaburn (puts targets in combat) while having the ability to silence every two minutes. Hope this helps!

      @@pojothefuego9588 Awesome I appreciate the info! Regarding if it was Alliance side, would Draenei be the best choice since they seem to have decent priest racials for PvP and still have their main racials be useful to a raid, so kinda balanced between both? I don't wanna make a Human despite the huge Spirit bonus which would help in PvE.
      Now I may be a bit greedy here, but while I do want to raid since I never experienced it much in original BC, but I also want to PvP, is there a recommended spec to kinda go in between PvE and PvP roles? Should I just do your PvP spec and deal with whatever I may be missing from the PvE side? Or should I just deal with it and respec as needed?

The talent doesn’t present enough situations/uptime for more investment that one point, but the dungeons and raid content during those phases had more than enough adds that you could still proc it consistently on 20% chance . Hey, good video, man! How did you calculate the stat weights which you used in the "Seventy Upgrades"?
    I also can't decide on a race. I was a human in WoW Classic. And in TBC I wanted to change the race to drenei. But after your video, I started having doubts. I'm very attracted to the drenei talent that gives a 1% spell hit. I'm not sure if I'll always have ElemSham with me in the group. In WoW Classic I had 12-13% spell hit for a long time and really got tired of missing during boss-fights. Also I think Symbol of Hope gives a lot more mana than 10% of spirit for the same time. So it turns out that humans only have a small boost to spell power?
    Maybe I'm wrong and 10% of spirit would be very weighty, but I'm very skeptical of spirit as a priority stat in equip... Do you have any experience playing drenei-smite-priest?

    • @pojothefuego9588
      @pojothefuego9588  3 роки тому +2

      Hi, thank you! The stat weights were adapted from my own classic smite build which was more Mp5 based. Short Answer : Human and Draenei work well in high-end content. Spirit is a massive stat that comes from many passive places. Human's personal scaling is unmatched by any race. Draenai, however, bring much more utility to the table. Damage isn't the only metric. Providing 1000 mana to the group (5000 total) is incredibly strong and can merit a raid spot without mention of the 1% hit. Depending how you take advantage of these racials will determine which race is best for you. Both are strong options.

      Also, you'd have to give up on PI to take Spiritual Guidance and that's probably too much. Leveling a new character it's probably great to take SG since you can get access to way more spell power than you would find on gear in the mid levels. But for raiding I don't think I you could compete with the loss of Force of Will AND PI.

      No. All you would do is create a hit inconsistency between your spells. Focused Power ONLY works for Smite and Mindblast. that leaves a 4% hit gap for SWP, Holy Fire, and SWD. Any resists can disturb the dps flow of the spec. As for Divine spirit, this is an essential buff. Not even to mention the spellpower it gives to your group/raid, for your own character this provides 10 mp5 and 17 spellpower alone (non-human). Spirit Tap is an unmovable talent unless I'm speccing for a specific fight. Too many raid bosses have adds.

Realistically I've seen raids prefer CoH priests and only swap a priest into disc solely for IDS. IF Another disc priest is consistently present, yes. it's worth swapping out of DS, but base damage is much more valuable than the hit talent as explained above. While Starshards have no cost, Human still get more regen in comparison and the damage bonus from the extra spirit still contributes towards Surge and spells that can crit. If you're talking for BC leveling. Anytime! I leveled as smite with no issues. For 1-60 leveling shadow will always be the fastest.

      Because I use the full toolkit, taking that talent could cause hit inconsistency. Death, Pain, Purge, Holy Nova, and Holyfire would not benefit from that talent. Having a shadow word pain resist is a ton of lost damage and mana.

      Completely agree! Smite is very similar to the pacing of arcane mages having burn and conserve phases. Shadow fiend and power infusion are always helpful!

    is smite getting better or worse in wotlk? any chance it can be viable? glyphs look good, though talents get worse, what you think?

    • @pojothefuego9588
      @pojothefuego9588  2 роки тому

      Hey! Sad news, but smite priest outside of a leisure spec is quite dead in WoTLK. Largest reason for this is that the unique utility it once brought has been taken away and given to other classes. IDS no longer exists and every dps spec mimics our benefit from spirit removing our largest advantage. With the addition of dual spec, bringing a player that can multi-role is now irrelevant (disc shields > renew weakens our off-heal output). If our dps was much higher I'd consider taking Pain Suppression as a utility bargaining chip, but sadly its already extremely low as is. The glyph and talent modifiers we gain (20% smite dmg, 30% nova dmg) Seem to only replace the buffs we lose converting from TBC to Wrath. Our dmg never improves, just able can do it on our own (Sanctity aura and crusader judgement are both gone). While I won't say it's truly impossible, with many spec variations I found some level of success going Holy/Shadow. However, still couldn't add enough utility to justify the spec in raiding. TL; DR: Not enough dmg or utility to justify as viable in WOTLK.

      @@pojothefuego9588 man thank you for such a deteailed answer. i focus only on PVP, my dream is to play 5x5 arena with 5 smite priests :))) just AOE enemy and heal teammates... also maybe viable on RBG ? we still bring a lot of AOE in massive fights and also healing to team. idk how it goes in real, but i just dream of doing some usefull interesting staff with smite priest... dont wanna play some normal spec in 15 year old game
