In my opinion final fantasy 9 is one of the best. If someone were to try and make a game inspired by final fantasy 9 it would be good but not as good; that's because ff9 is a love letter to the classic style jrpgs and early console RPGs. It came out just as we were enting the next generation of 3D console gaming. Games no longer had as many limitations and could include fully voice acted stories and if the price washed right cinematic level cut scenes.
I'm concerned for your relationship. Is there a couples therapist in Arizona who specializes in helping couples work through their Final Fantasy differences?
*Thank you so much for this veeery informative video! I didnt play many JRPGs during the PSOne era and im happy to see that there are many gems to try out. Thank you!*
My top PSX JRPG is Star Ocean: The Second Story which is kind of mid-priced on the secondary market, not too cheap but not too expensive, ~$50 U.S. complete-in-box, and it has a lot of replay value with two slightly different campaigns depending on who you choose as the protagonist as well as some party members who will or won't appear depending on which story paths you take plus multiple endings. I also have Thousand Arms and Xenogears. Basically that's my entire original Playstation JRPG collection, which I bought brand new back in the 1990s, but I've played several other ones as ports.
I think a good game to get would be Threads of Fate. Personally I enjoyed it when I played it and you can get it from $40 (loose) to $70 (CIB). This is a great video and I can't wait to see more suggestions!
I find especially when you go back in console generations, the pricing can be a bit daunting. Love videos like this to help people get into the collecting or to get recommendations for sure. Parasite Eve is a fun franchise and I need to get the first two again, I have The 3rd Birthday for PSP. I have to go with FF7 as my favorite out of the two of them, since it was my first introduction to the franchise on PS1, but both 7 & 8 are incredible. I need to try to find anthology. Love the back and forth between you two with the FF7 & FF8 debating, got a laugh out of it. There are a bunch of insanely priced RPGs on the PS1, but there is also some very affordable ones as well, obviously if you want the heavy hitters you will be paying up for it (but that the same across almost any console). This was a great video for sure, love all the content - thanks for some of the recommendations. Keep up all the incredible work and see you all for the next one. #Roadto4k
One of your best videos, you guys made me laugh so hard and I just woke up so for an added bonus, making me to smile right in the morning in rare so thank you haha :)
On April 1 I picked up mint copies of Suidoken II, FF7, and FF chronicles for $10 from a vendor at my local flea. This is not a joke and I’m still mind blown 🤯
Ff anthology while having great games was extremely broken. Long load times while even opening a menu and constant freezes made the collection virtually unplayable
It's probably too late now but a cheaper option for suikoden 1+2 was PSN on the PS3. Also for us in PAL land, Suikoden 3 was available on PSN too. We can hope I guess for a rerelease one day... Maybe.
When it comes to what console I would like to see next, why not just finish off Playstation and than move onto another console/company - so PS2,3,4,5 (if there enough to do a video at the moment), PSP and Vita all would be incredible watches imo
When it comes to RPG suggestions Short - Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories/ Parasite Eve 1&2 Long - Legend of Dragoon (about 60hrs)/DQ7 Cheap - FF8/9/Origins/Chronicles or Expensive - Suikoden 2 (Friend of mine is a HUGE fan of this series and even though I haven't played it would highly recommend it just from what I've seen Exclusive - The Legend of Dragoon/Parasite Eve 1&2/Wild Arms/Grandia/Xenogears/Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories
I am a video game collector (hoarder) only ones I don't collect are sports titles unless its Genesis and older complete in box.... but I do own a lot of nonsense like Barbie / Mary-Kate Ashley / Britney Spears.... PS1 / PS2 had a lot of shovel ware... who is jealous?!
I also agree that jrpgs are great for couples. that's how i got my wife to start gaming... with one of the games you mentioned: dragon quest 7. It also helped that she originally thought it was a dragon ball game (and I didn't correct her) lol
All great games, but many jrpgs didnt come to europe like parasite eve, ff tactics, xenogears and chrono cross etc- I snagged them up over the psn for my ps3 though (as digitally). And yes, thats a cheap way to get all those rare and expensive classics cheaply AND legally (im not against emulation but... lets be real you probably dont own the rom no matter what you claim online). Anyway its weird to collect jrpgs for an european, around 2000 and earlier because even chrono trigger and ff6 never even got here and since I didnt get to play them as a kid, I dont have any nostalgia (I did have a snes back in 1992 but didnt speak english AND they never came here) ofc some people imported and used adapters but still... Luckily today and todays generations we dont have region coded games and also worldwide releases! Ps1 was still a great rpg console even in europe and even worth collecting for: ff7,8,9, grandia, suikoden, the legend of the dragoon, vagrant story, symphony of the night, wild arms, star ocean 2 etc
I can't believe you recommend the Square Anthology games, given all of the forced loading times they have. You are better off with the SNES editions and youtube, OR, to just get a newer version with all the quality of life additions.
Final Fantasy Anthology may not be the best version of FF5 and FF6. But this video is a recommendation for building a Playstation 1 RPG collection. We both played and enjoyed playing these games on this format.
Interesting! Our local game stores in Phoenix frequently have FF8/9 at around $15, and 7 at about $20, especially the greatest hits editions. The most expensive we ever see is FF7 black label sometimes at around $30-$35. Ebay is right around there as well
What RPGs would you recommend?
1. Short
2. Long
3. Cheap
4. Expensive
5. Exclusive

Short: Suikoden
Long: Chrono Cross
Cheap: FF tactics
Exp: Lunar silver star complete
Exclusive: kings field
Just so you know, "I'd buy that for a Dollar!" comes from Robocop the first movie with Peter Weller. It was a TV show of the same name.
I'm concerned for your relationship. Is there a couples therapist in Arizona who specializes in helping couples work through their Final Fantasy differences?
It's a very sensitive topic at the dinner table. When family is around they know to avoid it or else Thanksgiving is ruined.

Final Fantasy 8 is my absolute favorite Final Fantasy!!! So happy to see it get some well deserved love ❤
Yes!!! ❤️

More of these videos please! Great job!
Torneko is a great game! I bought it in 2015 for $60, never got around to playing it, then sold it last year for $250. Awesome game!!!!
Lol it's great to hear that someone likes it 😀
Final fantasy debate will tear us apart! Lol. Great suggestions guys. I may go look for some of those games.
One of your best videos, you guys made me laugh so hard and I just woke up so for an added bonus, making me to smile right in the morning in rare so thank you haha :)
Thanks so much for saying so!
Well Im a little offended that you ignored FF9 in the cheap game category! Great video yall
Hahaha ❤️

Heck yeah! That's great!
I actually made a UA-cam Short if you don’t mind checking out :)
I would like to see what you would pick for the ps2. With the ps2 library being so huge. Or even the gamecube (it being one of my favorite systems)
THANK GOD!! Someone finally mentions Suikoden 2 center piece to my collection personally.
Try Ogre Battle & Tactics Ogre. Underrated RPG games
I love Ogre Battle. I still have my complete copy for SNES from when I was a teenager.
Ff anthology while having great games was extremely broken. Long load times while even opening a menu and constant freezes made the collection virtually unplayable
Yeah, there were definitely some bugs, but we played through both of them on Anthology and thoroughly enjoyed it!
It's a little annoying but it isn't "unplayable".
It's probably too late now but a cheaper option for suikoden 1+2 was PSN on the PS3. Also for us in PAL land, Suikoden 3 was available on PSN too.

You never know, it could happen!

Haha nothing wrong with that!

Hahaha I love that!
FF Tactics is the best FF game on the PS1.
:::gives both a stern death stare:::
fftbattlegrounds
Lol
I believe you guys got the number wrong on those Final Fantasies.... I think you meant NINE :P
Ouch…no Leegend of Dragoon?
Honorable mention for sure!
FF7, FF8, and Legend of Legaia are some of my favs!
Nice picks!
Good morning friends
I'd love to see ps2 next. And I'd recommend legend of mana and star ocean the second story
Mannnnn, dragon quest 7 killed me on PS1 hahaha, but it is a great journey
It's definitely a long haul lol
I'd need Vandal Hearts 1/2.
All great games, but many jrpgs didnt come to europe like parasite eve, ff tactics, xenogears and chrono cross etc- I snagged them up over the psn for my ps3 though (as digitally). Final Fantasy IX is CLEARLY the best
I've always liked FF8 over FF7, but come on everyone knows FF9 is the 🐐
I can't believe you recommend the Square Anthology games, given all of the forced loading times they have.
You are better off with the SNES editions and youtube, OR, to just get a newer version with all the quality of life additions.
They are definitely not as good as their SNES editions, but back in the day we didn't know any better, load times were commonplace lol.
Final Fantasy Anthology may not be the best version of FF5 and FF6. But this video is a recommendation for building a Playstation 1 RPG collection. We both played and enjoyed playing these games on this format.
Final Fantasy 8 is def the best FF
Ouch…no Legend of Dragoon?
Honorable mention for sure!
I would agree Final Fantasy 8 is the best in the series
I love that you stated that ff8 is the best. Couldn't agree more, sorry not sorry ff7
Suikoden is the best !!!!
I’m sorry but Final Fantasy IX is the best on the PlayStation.
Sega Saturn
Only play action rpgs hate turn based
FF 7 is the best
I have a copy of Vagrant Story by Square Enix on the PS1 I am willing to sell if anyone is interested 😊
Final fantasy 7, 8 and 9 aren't cheap on playstation 1 , like all the good ps games their stupid experinsive cause their out print fir years
For the purposes of this video we considered $20-$30 to be cheap 😀
@@JRPGLife I've not seen cheaper then 60 anywhere for FF7, FF8 and FF9 for playstation 1 disc's of the games in over 2 years myself, and I live in USA
