I have ran a cottage food business from my home in Texas for a little over a year now and I absolutely love it. I’m looking to get into a commercial kitchen now so that I can sell my products To a further range of consumers because I have had people from out of state ask for them and businesses wanting to sell them and buy them wholesale 💕
I am a new subscriber. I would be glad if you can answer the following questions for me. A) If you are starting a sauce business using a commercial kitchen due to lack of space, would you still be required to hand deliver your products to your client or can you ship it? Would you also be able to ship to other states? B) if you are still required to hand deliver and can't ship to other states, are there trusted co packers who can safeguard your recipe who can handle all the process? C) for someone who's broke, how much can you realistically start a sauce making business with co-packers taking all the process into consideration? D) can you apply as a wholesaler and ship your products after using co-packers? E) how do you price your items competitively and protect your recipe? I have so many questions and would be glad if you can answer these ones
There is a company that sells a small donut oven for people to go into the business of going to fairs and other events to sell their donuts. I am considering going into this business. After purchasing the oven, I would then purchase donuts from the company. The donuts are frozen at the time of shipment, but it takes 2-3 days for the donuts to arrive (but thawed at this point). The company say the donuts have a 7 day shelf-life ... from the time they ship the donuts until the time I need to actually warm up the donuts in the donut oven (UNLESS I have a freezer to put them in until I am ready to use them, then it can be kept for several months, but I do not have a freezer at this point). I will take the small oven to the event and warm up the donuts right there in front of the customers. Here is my question: Is basically warming up donuts in a small oven at fairs and other events considered "selling homemade food" here in Texas? And would I need any license or permits to do this?
Can you sell baked goods on private property with permission or parking lots? I seen ppl selling gift baskets non baked goods in parking lots???Great info btw 😊 Thanks for sharing.
Look up cottage food law in Texas. They explain the packaging, product ingredient/allergy info, what type of food. Etc. it’s easy to understand and not a long list.
Im getting ready to start baking homemade dog treats. Just to clarify, any of the recipes containing fruits and veggies will have to be freeze dried correct?
Hello, I am a new subscriber. Questions: 1. I am selling 2 types of Bahn mi sandwiches with Chip bag and can soda as a package. Ingredients are cooked shredded chickens and cooked beef meatballs with shredded carrots, slice of cumber, top with cilantros and slice of Jalapenos. I have a permanent shed stand where I can sell the banh mi. I have already completed the City of Houston Food Handler certificate. I am only going to sell a quantity of 50 Bahn mi on Saturday and Sunday only. I have a business plan, LLC and business account established. Is there anything else I need? Thank you so much for the tips on the label. I do not plan to go to vendor events or famer market. Any suggestion is appreciated. This is my 1st cottage home venture. 🙏🙏🙏
What about the items that we cannot make under cottage food act? Where can we go for that info, if we want to start something at small scale and don't have much capital. I originally wanted to try something from home but it's not in the cottage food act, who or what can help me find out my next step?

Hi, I am planning to start LLC for my cottage food business. I am stuck and confused about the correct NAICS code to choose. It would be very helpful if you can let me know the NAICS code. Thanks again
Hey man, thanks for the great info... you mentioned you were going to leave links to the llc filing company and some kind of required certification course but I don't see them below? Any way you could respond with a link? Thanks again!
Can I sell homemade salsa, barbecue sauce, hot sauce, or ketchup? Yes, these could be canned cottage foods, assuming these are all plant-based foods that have a pH of 4.6 or less as outlined in the canning requirements. *Fresh salsa is not allowed.
Not sure if you have a video on this or if someone else does, I cannot seem to find out this info: I’m trying to have a legit bakery in my garage (my garage is 1100sft and it will be partitioned away from the rest). We plan to do all required things like 3 comp sinks, hand washing sink, bathroom etc. My question is, do I need a vent hood? We have ovens but no range. I cannot find on any govt website if a commercial bakery, without a grill or range, would be required to have a vent hood system. Which btw are extremely expensive. So, then do I just stick with cottage law? But my problem with that is that I also want to sell cheese as I’m also a cheese monger. I know I won’t be able to do cheese under cottage law so I’m kind of don’t know where to go from here.
Here's my Question, and it's for everyone. Is this feasible to do as a career? Say you had a cake, and you know you can triple your money on it by selling it 3x what it costs to make, Do you have to have a bunch of money to start? Boxing, labels, etc? How do you sell it? DO people just come to your home if your address is on there? Seems like there would be a 'break even' point in which you'd have to sell so many just to break even no? I'd really like to do this but I'd hate to spend a bunch of money I don't have to start something i cannot finish Thank you
from what I know not from home also may be based on the filling some sates allow this TYPE of food but with fruit or certain creams that are not potentially hazardous
@@MarketingFoodOnline Thank you I appreciate your quick response. The thing is the cheesecakes I make have to be frozen just so they wont melt, would this still be ok?
