Just about every UA-cam reviewer is explaining this pedal wrong. The IR with amp baked in is not an “amp”, it is the power amp section of the amp. Saying “amp” makes it sound like the preamp and power amp sound is in the pedal. It isn’t. It’s the power amp sound baked into the IR. Your distortion pedal (or whatever you use in front) is supposed to act as your preamp, with the impulse doing the rest.
@@musicman4christjesus there isn’t any. You can’t make IRs with preamp drive and distortion sounds baked in because IRs are a momentary snapshot and distortion needs some kind of time lapse to fully reveal itself. I’m no expert by any means, but you’re talking more about profiles that Kempers etc do
@@Docksidestudio1 I see, I misunderstood. So what about the IRs with amp section baked in? I was planning to use my OD pedals for the preamp section part. Know of any good ones?
@@musicman4christjesus yes, this pedal the TC impulse has IRs with power amps baked in. Power amp is mainly just tone shaping so easy to incorporate with the speaker tone. If you don’t want to get this pedal, it’s quite simple to shape the eq of any IR so it mimics power amp tone

Great video, and fanastic playing brother. Been using a Mooer radar with my Martin RSGT 000 and a Donner active mag humbucker, with 3 stacked overdrives / pre-amps gain staged to give me my lead tones. My Martin sounds great dry, but It's got a little electric crunch rather than the mic'ed up acoustic chime I'm really after for my open and inverted chord rythms. I'm looking for an IR / loader that's foot switchable, small, and that will sweeten up my rythm and stripped down solo acoustic stuff. I use a Donner Circle looper and a Beat-Buddy and a delay w/ tap tempo. Stereo rig, H-5 recorder on my pedalboard as a 6-track mixer-recorder. I send it all out to a Bose S-1 PA, and the sound quality and volume are impressive with the single S-1. It becomes massive and spatial with two fed in stereo. I can carry the entire mono rig easily in one trip - mic-stand and all included. This is the resulting sound: ua-cam.com/video/GFTSx0vARLw/v-deo.html Anyway, definately have my attention - you sound GREAT. It's exactly how I aspire to sound - and play! =)
If you by “send channel” mean the send of the effectsloop then yes. Just be careful not to connect the speaker to the pedal. Also you should be aware that the amplifier still may need to be connected to a speaker or load box to not damage the output transformer. Especially if it is a tube amp…

Hi, Martin. So with a amp-head, using an "unshielded cable" from out guitar speaker on the rear the amp to a "in" of a load box (I have a THD Hot Plate) and then from "out" of the box to "in" of the little pedal. Is it corrected ?
Hi Nuccio I’m not sure what you mean by “unshielded cable”? You need a speaker cable to connect the Hot Plate to the amp! This is very important as a standard guitar cable could potential overheat and melt… The rest is correct! Make sure to use the “line out” on the Hot Plate and NOT the “speaker outputs”. From the Hot Plate to the pedal you can use ordinary guitar cables… Regards Martin

Question on IR length. If I purchase a set of ORs that are longer than 200ms will the pedal auto convert them? Will there be a huge loss in quality? Thanks!
Yes, the pedal will take care of that, and there should be no appreciable difference in most cases, because the vast majority of cabinet IRs have little to no acoustic information after 200ms
Hi Mang Thank you for watching the video and the questions. Yes you can use the pedal without a preamp. The pedal comes with IR’s that has a “baked in” amplifier sim. Just be aware that it doesn’t work like a real amp so you can’t push the front end with a drive pedal or preamp pedal. I think it can actually work if you’re wanting to hear a different speaker. Do you not hear a difference when you use it? It’s not the “correct” way, but it definitely changes your sound.
I love this pedal! My setup is guitar - distortion - chorus - delay - impulse - amp. Toggling between IRs is a great feature!

You can go straight into FOH, PA or interface with this pedal…

Hi I want to use this with my blackstar 10 studio how would I do this? IR pedal straight to front of the amp??
I don’t think that would work. The Impulse Loader is emulating a speaker so that would be like sending one speaker into another…

I’m sorry but I don’t have the answer to that question.
Please contact TC Electronic for that information…
I suppose you don´t have to run the preamp at full tilt.
Nux mini studio or this?
