- I'm Starting a Band in 2024, I'm 44 and not been in a band since 2016 so I think it's about time I started gigging again and begin a grunge revival!

If I lived there I'd be your drummer. You would be set since grunge is fun and easy since I'm a bit rusty for the fusion esque rock I was into years gigging. But I'm a bit saddened I live in USA. I haven't wanted to gig for years since taking up guitar. But for the brotherhood I'd drop the hat and go with the originals. Between the background I have and loving writing music keys guitar and all it would be fun. Beating the drums in UK hahah ....Sucks to be in US right now. Lmao. Can't wait to see the progress man. Mate that would have been kick ass, the rib musical connection 🤣🤣 Grunge is certainly fun to play miss playing in them kind of bands, where I had the most fun playing live and the crowds were awesome too.

Indeed there is something unappealing about cover bands. Those who dress up like them even more bizarre.
That and the fact they're ruining the music scene for new up and coming bands, as most venues want cover bands on a Friday and Saturday night.

That’s awesome. I know you’ll write some good songs. I started my band this year in my 30s and just did our first gig. It’s fun! I’m working on originals and it’s always good to have some covers down too to entertain the crowd

Great idea Rob. I play in a band inspired by 90's grunge/alternative (Heisenberg from Tenerife) and I'm sure I'll learn something from your experience.

I write my own stuff but haven’t played in a band since covid hit. Could well be up for a jam one day as live in the north Norfolk area 👍🎸
That's awesome thank you, I'm getting a lot of guitarists and bass players messaging me, so let me know if you're up for it. In my head I'm thinking 2 guitarists at least for the bigger sound, gives space for rhythm and some nice lead fills in-between.
I'm going to put a little compilation video together to get an idea for the sound I have in mind.
@@theguitarmanifesto sounds awesome. Look forward to hearing the compilation video. I’ve nearly always had 2 guitarists in a band, 3 including the bassist, although my last band was my first 3 piece. I play mix of lead and rhythm but happy with either. Just love creating new music.

I have a random question and sorry if it's a stupid one. Can someone please share some advice about amps? I don't have any knowledge on amps but I have a second hand Laney Tube Fusion 3. And I'm wondering how do you guys use and play your amps at home and not bother anyone with it? I mean I see videos about guys talking about how to set their amps and what not, but I can't set my volume on 1,5 and not worry about being to damn loud, let alone worry about dialing in a 'nice sound'. Those videos make me believe like everyone has a underground soundproof music studio or something. So like I said it may be a stupid question but, what kind of amps do you recommend for playing at your attic or living room, which have some build in options and are a little bit versatile. Thanks!

The one cover band I do appreciate is that radiohead one with edleman cause the amount of shit they use to replicate sounds is admirable and they don't sound terrible but still as a musician, it seems like a waste of time.
My main gripe is most music venues want cover bands for the main gigs at the weekends and original music gets the midweek slots
