      Thank you!
      Hoping there will be some more fly-ins this year to bring it to!

    Thanks and excellent job. Interesting to see how it all fits together under the hood. The military colors really pop and same with the control panel, professional grade. I liked the black and yellow striped tag that said 'pull to eject'!

    These Ercoupes seem no larger than modern radio control models. Can you fly these small aircraft in other than perfect flying weather conditions?
    " Toy coffins" Nevertheless, you did a great job restoring it.

      The Ercoupe is a solid built aircraft. It was built to such a strength that the US army used it to test JATO propulsions, the army mounted 6 rockets to the belly of the Ercoupe in order to achieve a short takeoff and high climb.
      The Ercoupe can fly in almost all weather, it is capable of flying in such high winds that would keep most other aircraft grounded.

    Very nice job. How long did it take to restore it? Was it a actually military surplus, or did someone have a great idea for the paint job?

      Thank you
      Took us about 3 months
      And it has no military history, although it is painted to resemble the one military ercoupe YO-55 and has its markings on the side of the aircraft

    Beautiful Plane. I just bought a Project Ercoupe. A 1961 Forney F1 What did you have to do to check out the main wing spar for Corrosion? How about the low time engine? Expensive? Just wondering what I am up against. I have all logs on my coupe since NEW. THanks

      @av8r1946  4 роки тому

      We had the wings off for painting so our mechanic was able to look at it for corrosion.
      Engine isn’t really “low time” it’s got about 1100 hours but the other one has 1400 hours
      The airplane had to be restored anyways by the previous owner so he could sell it so the price was included in the sale of the airplane so wasn’t more than what you’d pay for a nicer ercoupe
      Good luck on your project!

    Gorgeous airplane and beautiful restoration, but the left-side panel does not look good, and the silent, dis-jointed video was not done well.

    • @av8r1946
      @av8r1946  2 роки тому

      Video was made for a presentation at an EAA meeting thus the lack of sound. Not sure what you don’t like about the left side of the cockpit? It has the Alon square panel which i believe gives it a nice WW2 fighter look

    • @kenthompson3730

      The panel is exactly right for an Ercoupe with the Alon panel update. Give the owner a break. How many 16 year old kids do you know who have bought and restored an antique plane in lieu of his first car?

      @@kenthompson3730 I just don't like the way the panel looks. Everything else is amazing, with my one opinion on the appearance of that panel, which is a minor criticism.

    Why would anyone portray the Ercoupe as a military plane--that's not funny!

    • @av8r1946
      @av8r1946  Рік тому

      The USAAF used the Ercoupe for the first RATO tests, the CAP used Ercoupes to search for German U-boats along the coast, the Alaska national guard used Ercoupes for Officer transport… those are just the published roles of military use.
      I’m sure your a halfway smart person, therefore, In the future do a little research before making negative comments so you don’t sound so dimwitted.
