Nice video! Pingyao is highly recomended for those interested in Chinese culture. It is also connected by Chinese high speed rail system which makes your coming here through bigger Chinese cities like Beijing and Xi'an super convenient. By scenery, Pingyao is much better to visit in warmer seasons like in May to October but avoiding to come between October 1-7. It will be so crowded as too many domestic travelers would be here for National holiday. This video is filmed during Chinese new year, which is also recommend for seeing the traditional celebration for the new year, but not recommend in terms of being crowded again as well as problematic air conditions when there is no wind blowing.
Small tips from a local people. Welcome to Pingyao my hometown.

Pingyao needed to be preserved and re-establish to its original form.. And plant some trees to make it look beautiful. 😇

Pingyao wasnt destroyed during the world war coz most Han Chinese lives in pingyao. Pingyao was one of the ancient cities during the Han Dynasty. Han dynasty was the cruel dynasty of China but on their era. Inventions of different things prosper.

Western Zhou dynasty. This was built during that era. Pingyao must be protected in order to protect the hardworked of ancient Chinese ancestors.

There are church's, temple's mosques etc. in China. I was an economics professor there for 12 years. Many people believe in a higher power but do not worry about church. I believe i a higher power and did in China and when I was in the USA, everywhere I have been. Sometimes I have gone to church and sometimes not. But my belief in a higher power is not dependent on that. To each his own. There are also people in the Chinese party that believe in God.

Don't forget, Nestorianism reached China and Mongolia around 9th to 13th century.
Eastern Churches were well established in the East especially during the Mongol Empire.
