I find it unbelievable that a device that does so much is being rated on primarily the speaker. Every video I watch people talk about the sound quality and its ok not the best blahblah. People this is a mini computer that you can talk to and can perform many tasks including controlling electronics in your house on command. If you need better sound then upgrade or get better speakers. Amazon started the simplicity of home voice automation, other than the cell phone which weren't as reliable. Echo make life a little more convenient at home or even when your away if used properly and if you take advantage of the features it offers. Bottom line if your looking for good sounding music in echo then go for the echo 2nd gen. It's bigger but it will satisfy your music sound quality. To me the echo 3 gen is an excellent upgrade and the sound is an A+ for its size and what it offers. Thanks for the review and yes I muted the echo lol
I bought one of these, a weeks ago from Argos (Amazon were out of stock, at the time) for £24.99. I know there are newer models, but I love the design and the fact that the power lead is the same colour as my black device. I was intending to link it to my sound system, via the amp, but, tbh, that's another step required for operation, so it sits, proudly on the top of one of my speakers and makes enough sound to fill my reasonably sized one bedroom flat. I absolutely love it and have already found so many uses for it, especially immediate access to LBC Radio. I've also synced it to 2 Smart Plugs, which was a breeze and controls 2 lamps, on timers/voice control. Chuffed to bits, at the moment
Everyone is comparing the speaker quality, but not the audio quality as determined by using the audio out jack. The 2nd generation had a terrible DAC compared to Sonos, Airplay, and others. An easy way to compare this is playing a familiar piece of music on the Echo through headphones, then switching to your mobile device to play the same piece of music.
i tried 2 dots . i found out that you have to leave the blue tooth on all the time to stream music . They went back to the store . since then i have bought 2 echo's 2nd gen and they work great .
Hi Stu, I’ve just ordered one on amazon for 29.99, I’m basically an Apple man BUT I’ve bought one for the bedroom so I can play (the up and coming) Apple Music on it and also Alexa controls all my tradfri plugs and bulbs better than Siri, so it’s a win win result I think and I don’t need a loud speaker in the bedroom, I have 2 HomePods in the lounge for music, keep up the good reviews , cheers Paul, merry Christmas 👍😁
Good question! Just covering this in an upcoming video. The second gen uses micro usb, with 5w power adapter. Third gen uses its own brand power supply 🤬. There’s a solution to this though... watch my review coming later today and you’ll find out!
all I wanted is to use it as speaker for phone, it doesnt work, it wants some stupid/smart apps installed on my phone, all i want it to connect to my phone and thats it, I dont need internet or anything else, useless thing.
Can’t really compare the home hub with the dot- hub has a user interface with control like a tablet, whereas the dot is purely just voice. But which service is better? Well it mostly comes down to preference. I’ve always preferred the Alexa route as it seems to be a bit more supported by third part developers. Also, amazon tend to implement new features far quicker then google, such as the ability to create routines
@@DustinMakesSoftware Spotify works on both doesn't it? I have got the Google Home Hub but like the new one with the screen and wonder if it is better than the Amazon Show?

Turn on English Closed captions, and watch the intro on all of my vids... it’s different each time. ‘Scrooge reviews’ ‘steamed rupees’, ‘Steve’s reviews’... evidently I can’t speak English well enough 🧐
*AMAZON ECHO DOT 3RD GENERATION;*

Even how he says stupid haha

This was amazing, the start when you coughed when you said alexa was the funniest thing ever
Nice a Puck that can speak for Ice Hockey :D
Are you a Jeremy Clarkson impersonator?
'Cos I love it haha
No I’m not! That’s just the way I present! Happens to be a similar style😅!
“ITS GERMAN” I’m dying over here😂
There would be no standard deviation related to response time between Gen2 and 3 given your test. Entertaining and good review, as always.
Nope! I gave up on that test anyway 😂
Great review!!! Keep up the good work! You just earned a sub!

The echo is cheaper in the US. It is $50 for us and £50 for you and pounds are worth more.
😢
actually here it is now £29.99
As a Kraut, i feel offended. :-(
Only joking! I ♥️ Germany! Berlin is one of my favourite cities!
Don't worry, was just joking as well. ;-) If you're around some time feel free to reach out.
Thanks for the video. What is the title of the song you played?
Can it actually speak German and French and whatever?

Can’t be a bad thing though?
Not at all, it felt like watching top gear for tech... Top Tech hah
£25 right now! Great review btw :)
Yup i got one
Can you use it without the power charger plugged in?
Not without some kind of accessory... it doesn’t have an internal battery.
thanks for this video can I ask you how much does the echo dot 3rd generation package weight (the full package/ shipping weight)??
It doesnt weigh that much it costs 50 dollars
Get the second gen for 30$
I smell a strong whiff of Jeremy Clarkson
