When preparing the deck and patio furniture for the winter, my father used to do all that you did in addition to placing those bungee chord thingies around the covered furniture. It’s an extra layer of security for the windy days. When the chords are linked together around the pile of furniture, it holds the tarp in place and keeps it from flying up, off, and away.
Great job Vaughn!! Just a thought. Maybe take a piece of the tarp and cover the pushed back pergola screen. You can drape it over and hold it together with a couple binder clips on either side. That way, no snow will accumulate in the crevices.
@@MsVaughnTV cool! by the way, this is so random, but I was watching Tyler Perry's "Sistas" and the one with braids reminds me so much of your sister Alex!!! Everytime I watch it, I think of her😊....I think it's the eyes and smile....so pretty!!!Nevertheless, keep up the great content! I enjoy it and Anne is a sweetie pie!!
I always do this with my decking in the winter to stop rain getting into the wood & freezing cracking the wood. Use cable ties to hold the tarp down & prevent it blowing around on a windy day. Snow and rain does not collect in pockets then either if the tarp is tight. Air is still allowed to flow to stop condensation on the underside of the tarp & keeps the deck and furniture dry.
This is so helpful I also live in the Midwest and am buying outdoor furniture for the first time and needed to watch this video for reassurance that my money ain't going to waste
@msvaughtn my favorite part is the same in almost all of your videos, no matter what the video is about. You give such clear examples of dealing with real life that it helps us see clearly how to rock with anything and keep it moving. Loved this and now, I'm headed to winter proof my outside area, with ease....mind you and then and order for dinner next week. Thanks!!
Thank you for this video. I just bought a home and was trying decide of what type of patio cover i want . Seeing your patio cover reinsure me that it can handle the snow. Thanks again
Thank you. I have been looking for a video like this and cannot believe I came across your youtube again. Hehe. My first patio too but unfortunately no shed so I have been confused on what to do. Outdoor furnitures are not cheap either!
Just a quick thought were you got such a big tarp could you not had basically turned your pergola into a temporary shed to put all of that in and left the pillows and torches in it? Just a thought to save room in the garage/house and keep it all combined in the same place so not to have to dig out or hunt it when summer decides to show its face again lol😁. Awesome thank you for sharing🥰💗
U have a lovely patio . I hope u covered it good. I had to tied mines down and put bricks on top n bottom of the taupe,, when it gets very windy things be flying in the air here.,
My favorite part was the beautiful snow (we don't get any here in California).... I take for granted all of the extra work that goes into living in the "real" Winter weather.
My backyard is subpar to that it's gonna be my first house I thought furniture would be nice on the grass but the concrete makes more sense like the setup will have to try this once I move in
Whoa!! You did that right on time cause we got all that snow super early this year!!! I'm in the state right next door (Michigan) .... we in shock over here!! And those meals look so good!
Hey Vaughn, l live in Matteson, IL, you may want to get some bungee cords and wrap them around the tarp on your patio furniture. The midwest wind will definitely lift the tarp material out from under the chairs. Btw, I think you're related to some friends that my husband and I went to H.S. with in the city. (Go Raiders) gone but not forgotten. Love your vlogs!!
An off topic question here 🙋🏾♀️...would you be willing to share how you prepared yourself (and family) for leaving the corporate world and being a full time mother and UA-camr?
Shout out to # HomeChef for sponsoring this great vlog. The oven ready options sounds great 👍🏼 Thank you for showing us how you winterized/ winter-proofed your patio. You did a great job. I think you did it at a great time too because it snowed. Enjoyed watching. Thank you for sharing! Have a wonderful day.🙏🏼❤️

I’m getting ideas for a backyard makeover and I LOVE all of your ideas. I’m in Baltimore so the winterization tips are a godsend!
TY for this. What is the name of your pergola? I'm looking for one that I can keep up throughout the year as well.
With that polar vortex we had last winter I don’t blame you for taking down those lights. You never know what weather we’ll get.
Oh wow I was thinking of this. This morning due to the pictures on news of people patios covers because they weren’t ready.
My backyard is subpar to that it's gonna be my first house I thought furniture would be nice on the grass but the concrete makes more sense like the setup will have to try this once I move in
I'm glad you did this. I just leave my things the way they are. I'm going to try this.
Would you do the winterproofing of the patio the same way, or is there something you would do differently?
Girl I hear Chicago just got hit pretty hard with the snow. So your just in time 👍🏽. Great vid.
Hey Ms Vaughn, is your pergola freestanding or is it fixed to the cement? If it is freestanding have you ever had problems with it? Thanks
Definitely helpful... no patio yet, but planning phase. Thank you!
Girl, Minards needs to sponsor you! Lol.
This was amazingly detailed Thankyou so much…!!!

This is a great video. I’ve never winterized my patio, never had a clue how to but this helps tremendously.
Hi, loved the pergola. Where can I get one?
Vaughn, you do it all
I live in a small condo in ATL and totally loved this video
Wow....you did this in such a smart way! Thanks for sharing 👍😊
Wait you already have all that snow OMGGGGG
I enjoyed the video! I’m a first time homeowner as well!
Great video Vaughn. Thanks for sharing
Won’t your bistro set rust if you leave it uncovered, and open to the elements? 😊🇨🇦

Hi Sanza!! Getting so big...The tarp was a good idea.
Do you proof your windows??
love that dog. Great tips.
Awesome and kudos to you !
Keep at it
Good job! Liked this.
Make it so that snow falls off the furniture, not stuck in there, when it melts all that water will be stuck there. Make it run off.
U gave me courage to attack my backyard today 🧡
Very informative!
IdgANYf's about this. I live in Florida. Patio furniture is good year round. I just like Vaughn. Hey girl!
