I just got around to viewing this video. Great job, as usual! I noted your comment about the inaccuracy of your pH meter. For meters in that price range, such is usually the case. When I was growing Arkansas Little Leaf cucumbers in the greenhouse, I finally had to invest in a rather expensive Blue Lab meter. As for "old school," I usually rely on the meter unless I encounter a strange reading. Then I fall back on my pH test kit. Take care, blessings, and good growing!
Excellent video Tikki I too prefer the old school way especially for all the fiddling that must be done! Old school 1 2 3 done!! I actually was the last person in my neighborhood when I was twenty still driving a car with crank up windows lol a vw bug yr was 63! Loved that bug
I have both the dye set and the pen. I find the pen much easier to use over time - less messy. I calibrate probably once every two months and the pen appears to work fine for just $10 on amazon.
Thank you, I've been having an issue with my Hydroponic Kratky tomatoes and wanted to test PH. I looked at meters but have read they are not reliable. I'll be buying an old school kit. Do you Test TDS? if so how? I think I mixed my Masterblend too nutrient hot and really harmed a thriving Grape tomato plant. Thanks again. I am a subscriber and really get a lot from your channel and down home style. Dave in PA
Hi, my pak choy and lettuce are yellow but my celery are perfect. I am thinking it’s nitrogen insufficiency. Can I just add the nitrate calcium to raise the nitrogen level?
How many times did you have to add more "up" stuff to the tomato container with oxygen? I grew a Tiny Tim, one plant, in a Folgers coffee container the kratky method and got good results but your plants look stronger. Will you pinch off the tops to make bushier?
"It's easier to see if you put a white paper behind it" ...dammit, why didn't I think of that. :D... I just tested mine but trying to match the colours but got white, red and blue LEDS from the hydroponics in the way, white/yellow light from the ceiling, couldn't tell if it was a 4.0 or a 5.5. Went out the room to check elsewhere but still, didn't think of putting a white paper behind it :D. haha...will do that next test. Thanks for that. and thanks for the advise on adjusting ph uppers.

You're welcome R. Ran, thanks for the comment. I'm going to give it one more try....
So many questions answered in such a short time. Great video!

Pens like that are incredibly innacurate
Thanks for the info. I use this with my plants that in Leca.
Your channel is a Gem and i thank you for all the details cause im looking to start my hydroponic farm i had to subcribe 👍👍
Great video. I have the electronic meter and the old school kit, I prefer old school.
Great info. Thank you for sharing the link to the pH information.
great inn info - thank you - can I use this for my plants that are in pots with soil and how? before I use the water?
Excellent, just what I needed. Thanks!

I have a meter and am always worried it’s not accurate even though I calibrate. Maybe I’ll try this stuff. Thanks!
Thank you for helping me figure out pH. My water is over 7 so I will get some pH Down
informative as always. thank you
For someone who didn’t get a vial with their kit, how much water should be used as a sample?

Hello can the Calibration solution be reused or discarded each Time ?thank for the answer

But when i add my nutrients the water turns dark brown... and that makes it hard to see the real color
Can I use this for a living soil?
Arent you supposed to dilute it before pouring it
So do I test the water first b4 I add my nutrition in a gallon or do I add thn test?
Why if you calebratedthe solution w/Ph down, ppm goes high?
