Hey guys, on today's episode, I chat with Chamath Palihapitiya about becoming a billionaire at age 32, his investing principles, and the "nuclear reactor" that drives him to help solve inequality and climate change. - Trey

your mic sound like a potato but Chamath's audio is perfect
Calicanis probably sent it to him😂
That billionaire microphone life.
@@LVT_Music21 All in
lol his mis is just turned up way too high
Billionaire vs Millionaire smh
Sadly all SPAC sponsored by his firm has done terribly and investors have lost lots of money. Also investors were led to believe companies his VC firm were launching via SPAC would be disruptive and on the right side of innovation.
You’re overloading your mic...move back a bit
Chamath was extremely generous on this interview, so many gems dropped!
Love Chamath as a fellow South East Asian but Chamath is a momentum type. Warren Buffet is a true value investor. They have two entirely different philosophies.
Great!!! Thank you for sharing it with here.
He is such a negative inspiration to people. Its very easy to notice the egoistic and narcissistic and wanting the be the smartest man on the room speaking so loudly through his veins. This is the first time I am hearing him speak but he exists so that I can point to people and say - 'don't be that person'. Thank you for bringing in diverse guests on your show.
The Pied Piper of SPACS in The New Yorker is another good article on him. I think Buffett will be safe for a long while. Reminds me of Buffett's comment " When the tide goes down you know who has been swimming naked". There will be lot of stranded naked swimmers when this bubble burst.
I hope Chamath can find his way to a few dozen university campuses. His insights would be so important to young women & men before they start their careers.
Then again, most non-economics university professors would probably want to lynch him for holding “incorrect opinions.”
The guy is a fraud.
That shining light is quickly dimming
Respectfully, but to say he is building Berkshire 2.0 is to say you’ve never studied Berkshire.
100%. Charmath is great, but his interest and knowledge couldn't be further from Charlie Monger if you tried. Square, Coinbase and Robin hood Vs Coca Cola and See's candy....um yea.
Charmath makes his money shilling companies he angel invested when they IPO, simple as that.
These guys are deleting my posts but this is the reality. Very interesting article
berkshire 2.0 peddles trashy spacs. who knew.
Great convo. Cheers!
Fabulous.
Thank u🎉
Cool and productive one. Thanks
Such an atom bomb of a quote:
A company with mediocre people and a great product will always triumph over a company with a mediocre product and great people.
If you have a great product, that team has put their biases to the sideline, either by listening or intuition snd invention, an ability to creat some level of product-market-fit that is ultimately able to give this customers something they need/want.
That level of obsession may manifest in a group that may seem rude, but to the market they are incredible.
A company is a for-profit expression of intellect.
Things that belong in a social club or a family that are misplaced in an office, under a collective can’t win.
Winning is suppressing bias to allocate capital to the product.
This team vs family distinction is awesome
This interview is amazing and the golden part of this interview is 14:16 - 16:43 . There is a lot to learn from this part and many people can relate to it. If i had to share this with someone who has no time, this would be the only part I want to share. 👏👏
Thank you so much!🙌
I appreciate his outlook on being able to do what you want regardless of being Sri Lankan. Felt that
Chamath has been excellent in building Boiler Room 2.0 and sure is giving Jordan Belford a run for his money! LMAO
What does this mean?
@@marionharris5952 he is an used car salesmen and duped thousands of naive investors of their hard earned savings, suckered them into buying his crappy companies
@marionharris5952
Chamath is a scammer, the original comment is comparing him to a famous scammer who sold risky investments to vulnerable people. People who invest in Chamath's companies lose LOTS of money, and he doesnt even believe in the companies because he sells immediately after he pumps up the stock
Gee! It's quite refreshing to hear an immigrant not bitching about racism and why the rest of the world is responsible for their misery, but speak for self-reliance and founding principles of the country for once
There are so many immigrants like that. You just don't know them. Maybe you know only those who gripe.
my new favorite pod
Thank you!
Cant wait to host you Chamath in Ghana 🇬🇭 in the near future as part of our Youth Parliament Entrepreneurs Workshop.
Could be describing “Travis-era” Uber at 17:50. Fantastic analogies. Thanks both for the episode. 👍🏻
Such an interesting perspective about immigrants and hardship and how they already have an edge in mindset because of the hardship or simply rejecting the norm.
Perfect interview Style. Most interviewers that interview Chaumont hog all the microphone time
Love from Bihar, India 💛
Great video! Thank you for investing your time Chamath & Trey
the goat, thank you
His professional approach and ability to analyse the trends in the future global financial market prove that he is heading towards the top hundred 💯 BILLIONERS category in the world one day. Congratulations 👏👏CHAMATH.
Where can I get the presentation that Chamath mentioned analysing early Amazon?
❤
CEOs of google,Microsoft and Adobe all came from the same school in India!!
Chamath 🇱🇰
He's very relatable, his interview Scott Wapner on Tesla and Jim Chanos was extremely inspiring. To see the level of conviction and character that he has to speak back so eloquently to Scott who was trying to act like a bully and using pressure. I honestly think him and Cathy Wood saved Elon and Tesla from collapse.
Have you seen his conviction when getting people to buy Virgin Galactic and even stronger convictions when he dumped the shares? LOL
Can you do a breakdown of the fermenting angle?
Why all the negative from people ? He is not forcing anyone to listen to him talk. If some people do not want to listen hey it's your computer, tablet , phone how about you touch the mute button or even turn it off. But I will tell you even if you don't like him there might be something you could learn that could be used to impact your life in a positive way. Look for good in people and stop being so negative.
I love this interview!
Love this! Always exciting to listen to Chamath!!
TIP 355:
Start a SPAC for Virgin Galactic and bail on it while your "counter fraud investor friends" happily lap up the crap that you feed them because
"the position unfortunately had to be sold"
Tip 356:
Pump TLSA publicly as a "distributed energy business" that could double or even triple, while privately (and simultaneously) liquidating your entire TLSA position because you don't "have an infinite pool of capital. So when I (you) have these ideas, the money has to come from somewhere." May not be illegal, but its sure seems highly unethical. Caveat emptor with his "advice" or "expert opinion"....
Chamath is not a value investor, why is building another Berkshire? Buffet learned to pivot from cigar butt to growth company, but his entire focus has never deviated from company’s cash flow. Even with apple, he did not even invest until 2016. Why? value investors are so misused in these days.
great conversation
Some nice quotes in there. Good interview and good to hear from you Chamath
One suggestion, you don't need to get so close to the microphone. Being too close to the microphone makes the sound unclear and creates noise.
Excellent interview. Great to hear you both touch on emotions, self worth and your own intuition and tie it into self-development, investing and a meaningful life.
Thank you for listening!
I will see you for sure. inspired and excited. what an eco system with social capital.
👍
I've heard he's in HEX 👏👏👏

I’m very surprised Chamath was interviewed. He strikes me as many notches below the people who you’d like to emulate.
When was this video recorded with Chamath?
He is in Italy as of now. So probably a month back.
Trey you should've bring on Christopher Bloomstran as well. Without Chamath knowing of course
Great idea.
Hi thoughts on what value is and its nuance and depth beyond price multiples was awesome. Thank you.
I love America
33:00
Did Chamath ever mention Canada- the country he grew up in- from grade one to University?
yep
Excellent interview. Always learn something from chamath
Great content! Chamath is such as smart and authentic guy! Impressive.
by pumping on leverage and dumping on retail ... right ...
Overcoming adversity
Con-artist 101 with Chamath
You know when you see a Tony or a Mario and you think to yourself, "yeah this guy looks like a Tony or a Mario"? Well, this dude, looks like a Charmath. I dunno why but he just has that Charmath sort of look.
Chamath being a Virgo and Mark being a Taurus also probably helped him get the job at facebook since those two signs are so compatible.
Gtfo of here 😂
Yah ok lol 😂

Namaste! Jaya Sri Rama!
Thanks so much for this great interview Trey Lockerbie🙏.
Thank you for listening!
@@TheInvestorsPodcastNetwork you are most welcome! Love this channel!
Just a note: Philips Morriss is now a Health brand. Pssstt! Hvor er Danskern?
Great interview. Chamath is sharing knowledge (and wisdom) for free and I love it..
Fool with a Plan can beat a Genius with no Plan
Inspiring
What is the name of the book that Trey mentions? Is it super minds or power minds by Adam Smith? Thank you

@@suzannekumaramangalam8324 thank you Suzanne 👍
Did he fix his annual letters?
Fix you mic buddy otherwise amazing interview with great insightful questions! Hopefully you get him back on! Earned my sub!
Thank you for your valuable feedback. We're doing our best to improve our audio's quality.
I rarely hear immigrants saying "Thank you America" for the opportunity given.
Chamath Scamath, Pal I pity ya

This is gold!
Trey you are too close to the mic, and/or your gain is up too high. You're clipping.
Thank you for your valuable feedback. We're doing our best to improve our audio's quality.
This interview should be shared in all high schools in the world
You have audio mic issues, not sure if its because the mic sucks no pop filter being used or what it is but your mic sound is god awful. Would be wise to fix the issue.
“Can I just double click on that” - saved
What about karma? That is relational to others.
*1:16** I'm srilankan and proud of you* ❤
People who live in rich country never appreciate the things they got (some)
So we understand the value of good country' thats the secret ❤

amazing1 interview I'm a huge fan of Chamath
Your mouth is too close to the mic, your sound is not great this time, unfortunately.
🇱🇰❤
The sri lankan 🇱🇰
I love chamath, I have learned a lot from him , thanks for interviewing him, I never get enough of his content
Min 14:30 for a while key
I read a few articles about this guy taking investors money and robbing them in bright daylight through dubious investment schemes. Is it true?
Interesting conversation, but when it comes to the energy and climate issues I think Chamath should have a discussion with Alex Epstein, Michael Shellenberger and Bjorn Lomborg to get the facts straight.
His recognition of starting-line lacks as what pushed him forward; choosing to see it as a blessing, rather than a hinderance, is super powerful.
A lot of knowledge packed into this interview
chamath is my favorite investor. love hearing him speak. i be taking all of his quotes very intelligent man
More like building Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC 2.0 by Snake Oil sales men Chamath Paliwhatshisname
How would a poker fan build Berkshire 2.0?? And on value investing why wouldn't he define his own definition and left alone grahams??
Anyways thank you for sharing your insights.
