Hey guys, on today's episode, I chat with Chamath Palihapitiya about becoming a billionaire at age 32, his investing principles, and the "nuclear reactor" that drives him to help solve inequality and climate change. - Trey

Sadly all SPAC sponsored by his firm has done terribly and investors have lost lots of money. Also investors were led to believe companies his VC firm were launching via SPAC would be disruptive and on the right side of innovation.

Love Chamath as a fellow South East Asian but Chamath is a momentum type. Warren Buffet is a true value investor. They have two entirely different philosophies.

He is such a negative inspiration to people. Its very easy to notice the egoistic and narcissistic and wanting the be the smartest man on the room speaking so loudly through his veins. This is the first time I am hearing him speak but he exists so that I can point to people and say - 'don't be that person'. Thank you for bringing in diverse guests on your show.

The Pied Piper of SPACS in The New Yorker is another good article on him. I think Buffett will be safe for a long while. Reminds me of Buffett's comment " When the tide goes down you know who has been swimming naked". There will be lot of stranded naked swimmers when this bubble burst.

I hope Chamath can find his way to a few dozen university campuses. His insights would be so important to young women & men before they start their careers.
Then again, most non-economics university professors would probably want to lynch him for holding “incorrect opinions.”

100%. Charmath is great, but his interest and knowledge couldn't be further from Charlie Monger if you tried. Square, Coinbase and Robin hood Vs Coca Cola and See's candy....um yea.
Charmath makes his money shilling companies he angel invested when they IPO, simple as that.

Such an atom bomb of a quote:
A company with mediocre people and a great product will always triumph over a company with a mediocre product and great people.
If you have a great product, that team has put their biases to the sideline, either by listening or intuition snd invention, an ability to creat some level of product-market-fit that is ultimately able to give this customers something they need/want.
That level of obsession may manifest in a group that may seem rude, but to the market they are incredible.
A company is a for-profit expression of intellect.
Things that belong in a social club or a family that are misplaced in an office, under a collective can’t win.
Winning is suppressing bias to allocate capital to the product.

He's very relatable, his interview Scott Wapner on Tesla and Jim Chanos was extremely inspiring. To see the level of conviction and character that he has to speak back so eloquently to Scott who was trying to act like a bully and using pressure. I honestly think him and Cathy Wood saved Elon and Tesla from collapse.

Why all the negative from people ? He is not forcing anyone to listen to him talk. If some people do not want to listen hey it's your computer, tablet , phone how about you touch the mute button or even turn it off. But I will tell you even if you don't like him there might be something you could learn that could be used to impact your life in a positive way. Look for good in people and stop being so negative.

    TIP 355:
Start a SPAC for Virgin Galactic and bail on it while your "counter fraud investor friends" happily lap up the crap that you feed them because
"the position unfortunately had to be sold"

    • @z5m2
      @z5m2 2 роки тому +3

      Tip 356:
Pump TLSA publicly as a "distributed energy business" that could double or even triple, while privately (and simultaneously) liquidating your entire TLSA position because you don't "have an infinite pool of capital. So when I (you) have these ideas, the money has to come from somewhere." May not be illegal, but its sure seems highly unethical. Caveat emptor with his "advice" or "expert opinion"....

Chamath is not a value investor, why is building another Berkshire? Buffet learned to pivot from cigar butt to growth company, but his entire focus has never deviated from company’s cash flow. Even with apple, he did not even invest until 2016. Why? value investors are so misused in these days.
