Thanks for watching ! Far from one take yes, I find it usually takes me about 3 or 4 minutes of filming to generate 1 minute of useable footage. Hopefully i can become a better speaker, and also a better balancer ;) to shorten that down hahaha
great advice, I'm definitely going to try to implement that into my flying. I fly very fast rates because I love the snappy movements but I've noticed I started lowering them down to get more of what I want to see in my videos. Great content Evan. Loving this helpful information.
Great tips Evan! That's what I've been doing for years. Also, if I really want it smooth, I'll set expo to 8 in Actual Rates. I'm not in front of Betaflight Configurator right now. I couldn't recall if it's .8, or 8 or 80. LOL. I'll check it out later since I'm out. I also don't do use stabilization, pre nor post on my freestyle flights. I only apply it for my cinematic flights.I noticed that stabilized freestyle flight videos sucks. It's my opinion. Nice video!
Idk man... I wasn't sure about your advice in this video for the most part. I just wasn't sure if your past experience was proof enough that you truely posessed the knowledge and skills to be smooth, until the very end... That was textbook smoooooth!
D-Term... you need to program your brain with D-Term. Slamming the breaks is using P-Term exclusively, the "limo stop" is using D-Term. P control system or PD control system.
when I first started I had a really jagged s'bang style of freestyle. I would just flip and jerk at the sticks. and my rates reflect that; I run actual: 200 center 1000 max with 0.51 expo. now I've been racing all year and my freestyle has disappeared completely... all I can do now is shoot 5x5 foot gaps but I feel like I'm clean about it. really hoping to get back into the freestyle with little flipper. :D
I have LOVED getting into freestyle more with the little flipper, definitely forced me to focus more on ways to improve my flying and I love that. Can't wait to see your footage!
Hey Evan! Great info as always but curious. Many say find your ideal personal rates and just sick to them to get consistent in flying. I was wondering if you find yourself using different rates for different flying situations? I assume your rates for racing are different from the rates you use here for filming correct? What about rates you use for freestyle. Do you use something different from these in this video in that situation? I kinda set my rates differently for the situation and or the drone in flying and just wondsred how you handle this.
I am very, very opinionated on this actually haha. I am a believer you should use the same rates for everything, and NOT change. So I use the same rates for racing as I do freestyle as I do cinematic. My muscle memory is 100% engrained into my brain and it allows me to do some very specific moves in any type of flying. But everyone has their own opinion!
Rates are all personal preference, but I think finding something you personally feel confident in for the type of flying you plan on doing is a great start. Making sure there is a curve somewhat similar to mine in the video is nice so you can have the ability to do micro corrections, but again personal preference. If there is ONE thing I will recommend, it’s find rates you enjoy, and Do. Not. Change. them. Building muscle memory is one of the easiest, simple things you can do to make you a better pilot. So much of flying is done off of feel and intuition, if you know your rates like the back of your hand, you will simply fly better in my experience.
The nerd in me goes for 573, 57 & 0.57 and it keeps it easy to remember. Also pretty flat at mid stick and helps damp the noob finger trembles . The best advice I’ve gleaned is there are no “magic” rates, find some that are in the range most pilots fly and then just stick to them. The thing I need to learn is planning a line, always feels too fast when low and below the trees but I think it’s because I’m just picking my path on the fly. Best to explore some lines slow and then work into them? Love to see more PFV in ski racing. You should spend some time learning the down hill basics, it will make getting to the shoot location much more enjoyable. In the world of things that exists skiing is pretty close to the top of the pile IMO. Thanks for the video tips.
Predictive. Not reactive. Best quick explanation ever.
Thanks!
Wait an FPV video with actual helpful tips, well explained, less than 15 minutes long? Amazeballs.
I try and be straight to the point, glad you appreciate that!
Very impresive that such professionals share their tricks👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼btw the blooper😂😂😂😂
Thanks for watching !
Great video and well-articulated as always, Evan!
Thank you Kai!
Most useful FPV advice I've heard in a year. Something to really sink my teeth into and practice!
I appreciate that! Can’t wait to hear how it goes
Good advice I will try this 👍👍👍
Something that helped me was trying to conserve battery by slowing down a little during maneuvers. Just led to smoother flying.
Interesting !
Drone life .
East Knoxville TN represent 🙌
Thanks for watching !
nice easter egg in the end good tips.. thanks for sharing! Trying to improve myself as well on that front.
It was not a comfy fall I’ll tell you that, hahaha
Solid advice! Gonna test it out in the sim this week!
Let me know how it goes!
loving these videos bro!
Thanks for this video! We need more pro fpv tip videos. And the blooper at the end proves it’s not just one take either.

I drive like that.. I feel I've got pretty smooth flights though too.. Great video and recommendations..
Sounds like you’re a good driver and a good Pilot!

Sweet! I'm excited to see some future clips from you.
amazing video as always love this new content you are churning out. please keep up the amazing work!
Thank ya Casey! Hope you can come down to one of our tiny trainer races !
Thanks Evan, great video and tips, just this morning after flying I was thinking my movements were lacking some fluidity!
Glad you found it helpful! Excited to see you fly after the tips

oldguyFPV; Hot tip - thanks! Fly safe, fly free!

Interesting idea ! Would love some more info

What are you doing with feedforward when you're racing? Low, mid, high, depends?
I rarely touch it! Have never noticed a huge difference, but for racing I’d definitely run it higher on average than freestyle

Boogie 😂
How do you come up with your rates. Is there a specific order you adjust it? what do you start with? Ive just been running 60/670 .65 actual rates.

Is this where the name 533 comes from? Your pitch and yaw rates?
Cool video. Keep them coming!
EXACTLY right… hahaha has been way easier remembering my rates since
@@headsupfpv I've been rocking 533 since I started.. thanks to JB

Love the blooper at the end :)
4:42 🤣
not my proudest moment hahah
wow those rates are so low compared to mine, what's your ff?
I don't have a standard FF that I use personally, but rates i make sure to never change !
i think u forgot some zeros in the video description:)
Lmao you accelerated the stick to hard at the end
I did didn’t I🤣
There are a lot of things can be copied from Autosport to FPV.
interesting... 533 as your rates XD
trick 3 always have snot in your nose
Was a cold day lol ! Sorry
Wanna get better at flying smooth? Stop watching your own stabilized footage. Quit stabilizing, period.
Secondly, TUNE YOUR QUAD.
Both would help for sure!
Little stick waggles you don't notice as a pilot become vomit-inducing as a video editor! Smooth and predictable is where it's at.
So true! Especially if you aren’t using stabilization. It’s imperative to have a plan.
