The reason Ozil doesn't perform is because he knows Wenger won't drop him so he doesn't have to give 100%. At Real Madrid he knew Mourinho would drop him if he consistently put in bad performances and Mourinho used to criticise his players so they would prove there worth and play there best. For the next couple of months (up until early December) Arsenal will go on and get a string of really good results and probably end up being top of the league for a very short time. Mustafi, Welbeck, Xhaka, Ozil, and every other player who gets criticized will turn up during those months and people will say the squad is good enough. Then, a series of bad results will come and Arsenal will collapse up until April. When top 4 is on the line, Arsenal will likely win every game but probably won't finish top 4 anyways.
This is the Arsenal cycle ladies and gentleman. Trust me, this squad IS good enough to win a league title. So much praise for most of the players today when they played against Chelsea (including ones out of position), but do you know why Arsenal struggled today?

I can see Lacazette and Kolasinac (and any other signing) playing so well every game until December, then they'll play very poorly until April, then once again they'll be good (like Mustafi, Xhaka, etc. last season). Once again, it is a *mentality* thing.
Alexis Sanchez is the only player that I see giving 100% and having a winning mentality EVERY game. This is why he probably doesn't want to stay at Arsenal anymore. I don't think Wenger will win the league with Arsenal (maybe in his last season) unless he has 11+ players with the *mentality* of Alexis.

I agree, the team have a winning mentality , but the manager is the reason why his players don't have the courage to win. Simple as that, if the players didn't perform, drop them or change their positions . For example bellerin playing awful he should be replaced by a central defender , Chamberlain switched to the right wing back, and kolosiniac to the left wings back. That's what successful managers do even if your best player is not playing well, conte dropped hazard, they win the league

I don't get how Wenger walks into every season so unprepared. He starts players out of positions all around the pitch. Poch and Mourinho walked into this season knowing exactly what's going on and where to play everyone.
The point of Wing backs is that they're supposed to be able to defend as well

- Arsene Wenger gets his defence wrong again.
- Monreal not a centre-back at all.
- Monreal is not a defender who should be in any starting line-up challenging for the title, judging him on his performances over the last two years, and this was yet another example.
- Monreal looked nervous in the middle of the back-three, where he was also the shortest, and he struggled to cope with any high balls being launched into the middle.
- Arsenal’s defence is as solid as a chocolate teapot.
- Arsenal were unlucky not to get a penalty with the collision between Hector Bellerin and Mame Biram Diouf .
- Arsenal’s big guns misfired in the game.
- Mesut Özil was anonymous - not for the first time in his career.
- Danny Welbeck endured a miserable time in front of goal.
- Arsenal have plenty of fire power at their disposal, but this showing did nothing to dispel the theory that they need Alexis Sanchez to get them through the season.
- So unless the aforementioned players - along with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ramsey - can pick up the slack left by Sanchez’s absence, Arsenal are going to be in a struggle once again.
