Try Quake Champions. It does have abilities but they are for the most part really well done and balance. The movement the maps and weapons are basically revamped Quake 3 Arena. It gets way to much shit for trying to re-invent the genre with modern mechanics which is IMO just fair. Plus it will feature the classic mode with no abilities. OH and NO LOADOUTS, THANK GOD. loadouts killed doom MP
the movement in quake champions is pretty slow tbh, every character has an incredibly low speedcap that you can reach within a single circle jump. iirc the only character without a speedcap is visor and his acceleration is incredibly slow. the devs just set the default fov to trick people into thinking the game is fast. if you want to play a fast paced afps play CPMA or Warsow, if you want something newer you can try Reflex also. (they are all dead games though :~) )
Quake Live is still a viable option. It is to me at least. I've been getting back into Quake Live to kinda get ready for Quake Champions, but if it's as you say, and you can't continually strafe jump with EVERY character to build up speed, well that just sucks complete balls. NYX is nice and fast, and I like the invisibility. Overall I do appreciate the ideas of having champions with different stats. I would also like to it be as fast as Quake Live/III Arena and so forth. (I might even be in the majority. IDK. Seems like most people playing QC are all people from QL anyhow so... yeah.)

Crappy low res video can never become more than it was. Blowing a video up to 4k dimensions doesn't make it 4k. Rendering it at 60fps does not magically create frames that were never there. The original refresh rate remains

Mice werent what they are now in 2006 man lol ...when u watch old games from like early 2000's and back most people were still using mice with the ball for tracking as opposed to optical/laser. These guys werent but yea the hardware back then isnt elite like it is now.

Bullshit.. I'd like to see them move at high speed while hitting a rail shot like Quake players. Not gonna happen. Quake players are also good at CS, and shit games like Overwatch.. There is countless videos of Fatal1ty playing camper strike and his great aim. He has titles in multiple games, not just quake. CS is child's play for pro Quake Players. It's just extremely slow and boring.
