been watching a lot of quake lately...it's like fighting games, as an esport, there's a purity to it that other games can't match gonna buy champions this weekend
did you buy it? How do you enjoy it so far, I've been doing the same thing for Quake live, been watching it for years but never got into it, instead I did pour 180 hours into Quake Champions.
I'm watching this on a 43 in monitor in 4k with hdr and these graphics are fkn gorgeous~ crisp, colorful and detailed.. never would've dreamed of this back then with my 528 mb's of ram pentium 2 computer and little crt monitor haha
i absolutely love how cypher makes those really edgy plays that keeps him in the game. i am looking back at this bloodrun match where he basically went mid, listened for where rapha was and then made a play to zone rapha out from mega, and the crazy thing is it really worked like a charm several times. it is really quite hard to play bloodrun without good timing, and these pros barely lose track of it. if cypher failed to get those megas, i think he would have really been fucked. then he made a play for mega after only having like 30-70 stack and fragged rapha right before mega showed up. we're talking very impressive risk taking, and super calculated with his confidence in his aim and dodge. don't try this shit at home folks. i feel like the game knowledge these guys have is just absolutely insane. i wouldn't dream of ever getting this good at quake, not in a million years. too bad this game is done :(
I absolutely love watching old Quake 3 tournaments like this. The announcers are great and the skills on display are absolutely insane. People think I'm an idiot for watching these old tournaments, but they are honestly ton more exciting than all this MOBA bullshit.
@@naimakka1949 I get stomped everyday. One really can't expect that you can walk into a Chess tournament just knowing the basic rules of Chess and expect to do very well. That's a good thing. No classes, no heroes, no load-outs. Your skill is the only thing keeping you from being great, not casual gamer accommodation. That's how it should be. When I get dunked on by Jordan, I wouldn't want that to be any other way. Lowering the rim for me but not Jordan is an insult to Jordan. That's just how i see it. When I can steal the ball and hit a 3 pointer from great players far better than me it feels great because it's hard, not because it's easy.
Such a shame that Quake is such a great and amazingly complex game that goes under the radar of the average player just because its just not made to cater to casual play as much and requires a high level of play to really enjoy the game.
Quake was catered to the masses though; the hardcore persona it developed was because later games had softened substantially. It's got to the point where they aim for you (aim assist), and duck for you (auto duck). Soon you'll just hold W and perform amazing feats
they hate him probably because he gives the aim based players a rough time, they find him slipping out of all kinds of shitty situations... and flourishing in the good ones. he is just a really lucky\smart player, with brilliant aim and style. i don't think anyone can really mimic him at all, he is unique. you can be really positional, but miss the bulk of your shots and not make important plays. i feel like people who are decent at quake who are positional either fail to hit the important shots, and or don't capitalize on important plays. it really isn't easy to know what is going on, it is really fast paced, and just leaves way too much room for error. you would have to be a genius to be a pro in Quake Live seriously.
Omg the commentary just doesn't work for fps online gaming. It makes no sense, the gameplay is too fast and he just starts to babble random stuff to keep up pace.
go watch some matches where the game is casted by a pro player, you will see how different it is and how amazing because his mind actually operates at the pace the game is played and he is able to comment accordingly. Or maybe check some Fraze's "thinking out loud"(check Fraze YT channel) videos where he duels someone and basically tries to say everything that goes through his mind. You will find out that fps gaming can be casted just as well as any other game.
Sometimes they give a little bit to much credit indeed, I noticed the casting on dm6 was pretty poor. Saying stuff like ‘cypher is in control’ when perspective is on Rapha with 150 150 or more

exactly theres a purity to it, thats exactly what i feel, i wish more games had this purity
@@SarcofagoBlackThrash are you still playing any of the quakes?
make quake great again. however, champions - suck hard. I agree with Strenx that it is not a Quake anymore. So we need QL back and as firm as tennis.
i played QC, i tried, i was open minded, but it doesn't feel right, it stinks so hard, coming back to QL...
Golden times of Quake with big prizes! I like to review it every 2-3 years... legal drugs)
Now i finaly know where Cypher's portrait-logo was taken from. It's 15:31.
Nice job on the switching POV to the killer ones btw.

Powder Hungry .. this is the best quake related comment ever happened. You talked from my heart! Amen. (Noob-average q3a/ql lover here)
for real, It really hurts knowing such a game has already faded into memory.
thats avek idiot, what cypher?
rapha looks like he smokes some good shit

Wow, still best game to Watch as esport. Thanks for upload!!
Quake is the only game I would consider as an E-sports. This is a real skill
StarCraft: Brood war also

this is quake live and not quake 3

I've never got a chance to play quake live or any other quake before qc, but I still somehow miss quake live
No need to miss it. Plenty of quake live servers out there right now and folks playing every day. Get in there and get your frag on.

I wonder how many people still play this version of quake over QC
There's...not a lot of quake players anymore to begin with but QL still has a good amount of players and a few really good duelers.
still you can find who to play in a minute or even faster. QC sucks.
QC is pretty dead these days.
some days ago rapha was streaming QL
Today as well

why people hate Rapha so much?
Because people say he's a difensive player (that it's no true, he's a positional player), and they said he's not enjoyable to watch.
It's easier to appreciate good aim than good tactics because good aim is obvious and looks cool.
