Thank you for your appreciation dear Vivian. I just try to express myself in the language that speaks to me the most, the language of music, and I am grateful you would lend such a friendly ear to it! ❤️
This song is Amhran na Fairraige(Song of the Fairies, I think) - it's the song the selkie child sang. Song of the Sea is the movie, and also another song within the movie, not this song.
wow ... there is such a beautiful feeling of "going on-ness ... the melody goes on, goes on, like a faithful promise of old, something true at core, just so beautiful. and you truly seem to be playing with the sea and wind making their music too. It's beautiful! Thank You! and it feels like the song goes on after you stop.
Thanks so much Patricia for sharing your feelings in such beautiful terms! Yes it is a haunting melody in all its simplicity and its harmonies. However I must confess the wind was not very collaborative in that very day - I had to edit out a huge part of the recording where the howling of the wind totally overtook the sound track :) it was definitely pleasant to play at the seaside but more challenging to capture on video than it looks! Thanks again for your appreciation and your beautiful words.
well you really worked well with the wind, as the result came out beautifully. But it does make me wonder about sand near a harp. I don't know if sand could get into the soundbox, but it might not be a good thing. The perils of harping in nature are many, but it's worth it for sure.
Thank you Helen :) it was a very windy day which made the recording challenging as the strong wind competed with the harp sometimes :) but playing at the seaside is definitely a pleasant experience!
Beautiful as always Marianne! Love the sound by the sea very magical Such a blessing to listen too you and your wonderful harp! Liked the wind blowing your hair, has it ever caught in the strings.
Thank you so much for your appreciation dear David, so nice of you as always! What seemed to me like a good idea (recording outdoors by the sea side) was actually terribly challenging - the wind was blowing so hard that sometimes it covered the sound of harp completely! So I had to reshoot many times... hahaha luckily no, my hair never got tangled in the harp! But there’s always a first time ... :)))))
Oh my Goodness! I can't believe I found this! So amazingly beautiful! Did you figure out how to play this on your own or did you find some sheet music for it?
Kate Viers Thanks a lot for your comment, I am so glad you liked it! I actually didn't know this beautiful song until one of my music students asked me to help her with it last summer, so I learned it based on a piano transcript available at easypiano.cz/sheetmusic/693/song-of-the-sea-the-song. I just rearranged it a little so it would fit the range my small harp. Hope this helps!
(it seemed like some of the strings were looser than others, maybe it was just my imagination) Do you ever play the harp sitting down or standing up? i noticed in several videos you prefer kneeling.
Spoken Word Illusions the loose impression comes from the camera shutter speed! On this harp all strings have the same high tension and it doesn’t look that woobly in real life! Actually I play sitting most of the time. Standing only works with low weight harps you can comfortably strap - either small sized lap harps or carbon fiver harps.
@@duskflower8825 I think Claudio meant this SONG is called "Amhran na Farraige". Even though it's from the movie 'Song of the Sea', and one of the lyrics of this song mentions "song of the sea", there is another song in the movie that actually has that title, and goes "Oh, won't you come with me, where the ocean meets the sky; and as the clouds roll by, we'll sing the song of the sea!" This one that Marianne is playing is the song the selkie sang to open the way to Tir Nan Og (I probably spelled it wrong, sorry!) for the Fae trapped in the physical world, so they could escape. A lovely song, but its title is NOT 'Song of the Sea'.

Really beautiful! Sounds a lot like the ocean waves themselves in the background.
Bellissimo, Reminds me of Alan Stivell inspiration !!!
So very beautiful...thank you.x

Tu aurais la partition par hasard? :)

Well done and what scenery!
Thank you Keith! A bit too windy for the sound recording but it was a pleasant experience anyway :)
Celticize Me And Jazz Me Up by Marianne - Yes, difficult for sound recording! I love the ocean!

I like that riff at 1.12....looks hard too...lol
Amhran Na Farraige ;) there’s lyrics to go with it if you want to sing ;)

The movie is actually called "amhran na farraige"
It's called Amhrán na Mara in Ireland
