Untangling convergent evolution.
I sploot at work. We dig holes and I'll lay on the fresh dirt during breaks.
My supervisors have asked if I'm okay.
It's very hot right now. My dog and I are both splooting on a sofa 😂❤ just two mammals relaxing
My doggy prefers the kitchen floor. most often in front of the fridge or sink.
That's how I cool down as a human.. who sweats.. a LOT.
You sploot?
@@Based_Gigachad_001 I sploot.
Aye fr though, mostly when im tryna sleep 😂
We sploot out here
As a human with jacked up hips, i sploot. It stretches my hips REAL good
Chickens do something similar where they lay on their side and spread their wings out at an angle. More than once, I've found an chicken in this position and thought they had died.
Not too long ago i saw a dove do that
They dig holes when they do it and it looks like they dug their own grave and then died in it.
The squirells do it on my deck. They stare directly into my kitchen window as the chill out. They love it on the deck because it's elevated on a second story and my deck is shaded by two huge chestnuts trees that serve as habitat for lots of things.
Squirrels do it on your WHAT 😮
Super grim seeing polar bears having to sploot
I mean, it's not necessarily something caused by global warming. They probably splooted well before that during warmer months.
That place kinda touristic spot, the guys inside are sweating like hell, be compassionte my friend 😇
Conspiracy theorist
No, you’re just brainwashed by propaganda. Sad
“I’m gonna save the world by pooing on my legs” is my new motto. 😂 you guys are the best! :)
Don't forget about the toolps! This is when animal does a sploot, but on its back.
this is what I do
I call this the rotisserie chicken position!
Magikarp overalls! Very cute!
Right??? Sincerely, Danielle has MADE IT with that official Pokémon Merch
Ah thats what those little color dots were 😅 I liked the overalls with the ocean waves but couldn't see or focus on what those were
I feel like splooting at work right now.
I find myself splooting to sleep in summer nights. It kind of keeps my dangly bits separate from the heat of the rest of my body. 😂
When the legs stretch outward, I call it "cooling their jets"!
This is a very clever piece of sci com. Lure people in with cute pictures of bulldog butts and the adorable viral term “splooting” then use that premise to teach them about thermoregulation. The science was put in simple, understandable terms. Very well done 👍🏻. The best sci com is fun and informative and easy to follow, this nails all three.
In the winter you can even find my dog splootting in the sun rays that hit my kitchen's tile floor
Same. My dog likes going outside so he can sploot
I've seen pelicans perform gular fluttering before but always assumed it was just to dry off their feathers. No idea that there was a specific name for it or that it helped them cool off.
The bees are all yelling don't fart! the entire hive will know!
I’ve seen squirrels splooting all the time at UC Davis last month. It was pushing 112 degrees up there! 🥵
This is the greatest educational video I have ever seen!! Splooting is the best word! 😄😄😄
Thank you so much!! 🐾
No matter how advanced your air conditioning is, nothing will ever beat sitting in the shade of a mighty tree with a nice, cooling breeze sweeping over you. Paradise on those hot summer days
I used to Sploot all the time.
I sploot and have for many years. :P
All Animals: Splooting, Panting, sweating etc.
Meanwhile, Kangaroos and Vultures: HAWK THUA 🤣🤣🤣
I thought hawk thua was a blowjob reference??? What??
Didn't know there was a term to describe this. I always called it planking 😂
I've seen geese sploot before. It was incredible.
So it’s about exposing more surface area to the desired temperature, that makes sense.
Love your overalls btw the pattern is so cool
Love that "fishy" outfit!
There's a little squirrel that does this in my pine tree along a branch. I put out a little water dish for him or her.
I remember a friend from High School had an animal rescue thing for a while. When it was too hot, they had to fill a kiddie pool for a Llama to stand in to cool down.
A neighbor has a horse farm with a gelding that can't sweat - I feel so bad for him - he has shade and a small pool, but it must be awful
@@thelostronin It's how I learned that Llamas hum when they are agitated.
Your overalls and hair are AMAZING!! 🩵💛
I raised a squirrel who would sploot on me. Soooo cute!
Sleeping in this position fixed my chronic back pain. Every day, all the time, for around 5 years I’ve been dealing with this pain. Stomach sleeping fixed it.
Science is cool 😎! I dig man! A quote from the Monster Squad
OMG i just love this episode!!! 👏🥰 felicidades por su gran trabajo! saludos desde Chihuahua Mexico! ✌️
Possibly the cutest topic to cover, love it
Thank you friend! 🎉
Dude we so need a link on those magic karp overalls!!
my dog liked to do this a lot, back home. Our houses are made concrete instead of wood, our floors are concrete as well, so it is cooler than wooden floors.
My late dog and my current puppy both love splooting
That word is perfect.
Ah yes. I often noticed cormorants doing that as they’re drying off their feathers and what’s interesting about the thorny devil is because of those openings in their skin, whenever they find a puddle, they placed their feet in the water and let the skin absorbed it like a sponge and from there, the water reaches up to their mouths. Very peculiar.
We call it "froggie legs" like a meditative pose. Pet s _know things_ when they meditate. Careful making eye contact, or they will know your secrets too in addition to all the other mysteries of the universe!
I can't believe you didn't mention the air condition systems that termites build into their termite mounds to stay cool, kind of more amazing than just a fast moving ant.
My water snake, Mizu, is perpetually splooting.
I guess whales are too.
At 0:33 looks like a cartoon fell off a cliff and landed. Just need his hand to hold up a sign "Sploot!"
My cats do this when I water my yard outside.
My pet ratties and bearded dragon both sploot. ❤❤❤
My rabbits sploot in the summer
Rabbits are some of the cutest splooters 🐇🐰
"that was one of the best days of my life" 🤣
Ferrets do it no matter the temperature
My ferrets will be running, running and then instantly sploot or when you step around a corner and catch them doing something they sploot trying to act all cute lmfao 😂😂
Literally saw a squirrel doing that on the sidewalk the other day.
Im so glad i found this video. I've seen it claimed multiple times that if a dog is frogging they have bad hips. This is specifically coming from dog groups who are into confirmation and breed purity and don't actually base any of their theories off science.
Yes, the worm-blooded are so awkward when it comes to dealing with heat. Belly down would be more efficient & convenient than on the side or back perhaps. Heat sensor camera would show interesting & surprising images!
It's my understanding that chickens and other birds with combs and/or wattles use those organs to help them heat-regulate too. They're like little fleshy cooling fins. 🙂
Yes! Though sometimes they just lay on their sides with their wings stretched out. They kinda look dead, but theyre just trying to cool off!
I call it making chicken drumsticks
My cat does this while sitting on me. Summer or winter. I call it spread eagle. I don't think she does it to cool down. I think she just finds it more comfortable however its only when she sleeps on me
Great episode for those of us who like watching animals do the cutest things imaginable
Very enjoyable video. Thanks🌻🌾
That dungaree is 🔥
Omg Danielle's overalls are the cutest!
I love when my bunny does this. It's just too cute
The tasmanian devil is not the largest predator on the island, its the largest native one. Dogs (wild and domestic) and humans are both present
Please talk about the awesome species of lizards that's all females and some how manage to have children that aren't exact clones.
What species?
@@Based_Gigachad_001 I can't remember the full name as I read about it quite awhile ago but it's part of the Aspidoscelis family/group. I just remembered it because sharks will have baby's of they can't find a mate but their unfertilized eggs come out as clones of the mother but these lizards are shuffling chromosomes in order to avoid having clone children.
@@Based_Gigachad_001 The most famous one is the New Mexico whiptail, Aspidoscelis neomexicanus, which is a hybrid between A. inornatus and A. tigris (little striped whiptail and western whiptail). A. inornatus and A. tigris cannot produce viable males together, only females. Since the offspring of A. tigris and A. inornatus were not produced by parthenogenesis, those A. neomexicanus are not clones. But A. neomexicanus lays unfertilized eggs, and the lizards that hatch from those eggs are clones of the mother.
I use to sploot all the time before having a AC but hell I still sploot when it's real hot out and the AC isn't enough
Sorry, I'm trying to learn something new but I am distracted by THOSE AMAZING MAGIKARP OVERALLS. Now I need to hunt for them because they are perfection. Great video again!
Now hang on a minute, birds do not "pee" technically, so their waste is a mix of poo and pee (the white-ish sludge) and I guess that gives them a leg up in this cooling-down method... We would need a bad case of the runs to match it I would guess... and that just sounds like a really bad time 😅
I was just watching my squirrel friend do this the other day. Thanks for the video!
I seen a bear playing in a stream he would walking d lay down and the water would come up to his neck and he looked so relaxed
As a science educator in a community that is struggling to accept and adapt to the presence of climate change, my students always ask, “Who evolves faster, plants or animals? AND what proof do you have?”
I don’t want to be lazy, but I am teaching 7 preps a day and supervising a foreign language class, think you can point me in the right direction? ❤
My dachshund-pitbull is splooting right now. He's adorable.
Sploot is such a funny word
8:40 For those wondering.
50 °C = 122 °F
700 kph = 435 mph
"Yes, that is now an accepted scientific term" Yes! This is how descriptive linguistics works. My linguist heart warms every time I see acceptance of a word that would upset prescriptivists 😊
I call it froging when my dog does it 🤣
Roger Smith cools down and eliminates poisons from his many and convoluted systems by splooging. Different process, similar results.
Those overalls are hella cute.
polar bear: *splooting*
Me: *struggling to maintain self-control* Dont go over there. It's a trap. It's a trap! Is friend shape, but not friend! Must not die for snuggles!
I see squirrels do it all the time
I LOVE your overalls! They’re so perfect!
Splooting can also be a signed of hip dysplasia sometimes w/ dogs!
Not gonna lie. I've splooted a lot during the summer months. And it's amazing!
That old bee video was not completely accurate. In the winter, they do use their wing muscles to generate heat, but they will generally dislocate their wings in order to do so.
In the coldest days, they entire colony will surround the queen in a giant bee ball in order to help keep her warm.
This bee ball formation is so effective, some bee species have learned to use it as a defense mechanism against hornets. They will encase the raider and cook it alive, sacrificing themselves to protect the hive.
It's 113 F in Phoenix right now. Gonna go sploot
I have seen wild turkeys do this under a shade tree.
A video on splooting becomes a deep dive into the different strategies animals use to beat the heat. This is how Animalogic do.
I had a dog that loved to do this, and I used to call him “chicken legs” whenever he did.
I see this often with squirrels on my garage roof and my German Shephards digging holes in the yard and splooting!
Excellent overalls!!!! Bring them back. Dan!!!!
Everytime I hear something like "it's always important to know", "it's important to remember" my brain screams gpt O.x
Btw its not just mammals who do this. My pet Rankins Dragon does this a lot too.
I want to learn more about Badgers. I saw one on the Pathways here in Calgary
I cool an assortment of glass and ceramic things in my fridge for my hamster's splooting pleasure.
chickens do something similar too. when i saw it at first i thought they died
Meanwhile everyone is loafing in Australia
This is too kooky and 🫤😵💫🤨 thing I ever see
Let's all sploot this summer in some wet sand!
I LOVE LOVE LLLLL-OOOOOOO-VVVVBBB-EEEEE those dungarees!
Danielle. I love your new look/hair style...Soooo Cute!
Shoutout to those Black Milk overalls!
As an Aussie I have co opted the kangaroo style - on a hot day I’ll rub coke water on my exposed fore arms and it works a treat! No spit though.
It does look like a good way to cool down!
Love your OVERALLS!!! ❤
