Thanks for a pretty comprehensive assessment 👍🙏 The throttle response is designed to be quick in sport mode, so I dial back the settings when dribbling around town to make it a more relaxing ride.
Hello from Bucharest! Great summary - I’ve owned my Hornet for 12 months though I keep it in the Netherlands where I spend most of my time. I’m 183 cm and agree that it’s a very comfortable small bike with an amazing engine and a wonderful exhaust note from the factory. Luckily I practiced on an older Street Triple 675 with a way snatchier throttle. Keeping the Hornet in 3rd gear for a roundabout doesn’t feel snatchy at all in comparison. The engine though - I think it’s actually faster than that old Street Triple. Just amazing for the price!
I bought one in November 2023. Had to spend a further £850 to make it road worthy (fender extender, rear hugger, screen, etc, etc,) for every day use. At 5'9" it fits me very well. Took it to the Picos and Pyrenees this year and it was excellent. The only down side is the quality of the paint. Mine's black and the tank had very noticeable wear marks in under 1,000 miles. Put a claim in and in effect was told to go forth and multiply as it's standard with modern water based paints. I've spoken to a pro paint sprayer and he sort of confirmed that - apparently they cheap out on the laquer protection. I've since noticed that many manufacturers now seem to put stickers on areas that are susceptible to wear. 🤔
Water based paints are also easier to apply in the factory enviroment. New paints nowadays just look sheit. Orange skin on a brand new +60k € car should never exist, but here we are. Only sollution for now, is to apply a PPF (paint protection film). These clear (or clear matt) wraps are extremly sturdy and can heal its surface with heat. Sunshine is enough, to make normal wear marks disappear. Hot water works too. Maybe that helps you. Polish out the marks on the paint and the tank will look brand new for a long time. Costs maybe around 250€-ish.
Great to have you back--always enjoy your reviews! I agree fully with your comments on "lane sharing," as we call it here in California, the only US state where it's legal. I get very nervous depending on the discretion/alertness of drivers when I am out of state.
As an American who grew up driving in Texas, I’ve lived in Holland for 15 years and drive a lot in the Netherlands and Romania. Drivers in Europe tend to be a lot more aware of the road and motorcycles/scooters than in the US. I’m nervous as hell lane splitting in California with the big SUV’s and EV drivers not even paying attention to the road. In Europe you’re much more likely to accidentally bash someone’s mirror as the smaller cars also come with narrower lanes and less space to lane split.
ENGLISH - I did a testride and I kinda liked it mostly because of the quickshifter, it was the first time when I tried one. Bike is small, nimble, quite powerful for a middle weight naked but it feels small for me, I'm 1.85m and 85kg, I have the impression that I look strange on it, comfort wise it was ok, after 30 minutes of riding my back felt a little tired because of the upright position and the seat isn't too much comfortable at least for me. RO - Chiar mă gândeam în ce țară este filmat când am văzut pisica traversand, mi-am dat seama în scurt timp după șosele și trafic 😄
You can see, that it is a bike for smaller and lighter rider. I'm 1,75 and it fits like a glove, but already at the top end. Depending on the lenght of your body parts, 1,80 might be the top end. Everything above will always have downsides. Weight I'm between 70-75kg + gear and the suspension is still way to soft for my riding style. But tbh, I think it is ok in that price segment, to upgrade the suspension to a sporty and adjustable one.
Dude in civilized part of the world (EU) we drive/ride 50 or even 30 km/h in villages and agglomerated urban areas. You should try it, that way you will keep some cats and dogs alive. Stupid ones and smart ones. Apart from that, great video 👍
In other words - if those "geniuses" at Honda would have installed cruise control and tubeless wheels on their TRANS..... it potentially, could be a pretty nice bike - not a useless F...K knows what - it is today 🤔🤔 Good review. Agree with the most.
Have you had a chance to test ride the new Hornet yet? (or the curiosity... 😀)
My God, had my first ride on my new cb750 Hornet. I'm in love.
Thanks for a pretty comprehensive assessment 👍🙏

As someone said, it's not illegal if the fuzz doesn't catch you....

What does Dave think about the pillion accomodation?

Calico, I have 3 at home. When you visit me in Sunny Beach, you can meet them.....I also have beer for you.
Curious to know your take on the Suzuki gsx 8 bikes.
Thanks, mate.
Honda missed a huge opportunity to just strait up rerelease the 919. This bike doesn't measure up
Looks like the cat is missing it's tail for a reason.

In the eu they would take away your driver's license based on this video. The only solution for such fools.
Watch it man, the last YT bike reviewer I liked in your city was killed in traffic & I don't want you to be next. I expect you know who I mean....

It looks like you’re riding a CB125. 😂
