  • Hey guys, I'd like to share the raw audio of efnote 3x and first impression.
I did not get any sponsorship from efnote. Based on my experience.
The audio in the clip is mostly the sound coming out from the drum monitor.
Also, I added ambience audio, its volume is slightly lower than the drum audio.
I wasn't expecting this kit to be so nice. I like the feel of drum pads and cymbal pads.
12 inch snare pad did not feel any small compared to the acoustic snare. 10in rack tom pads and 12 in floor tom pads also felt great. Both crash cympal pads are 16 in and the ride cymbal pad is 18 in, so there were no awkward feeling while I was playing. Tripod rack system is very sturdy. There is no worry that these cymbal& tom pads will fall towards you.
12? 10 in kick pad was heavier than I thought. It gave me real acoustic feel during the play. But, the factory-out tension of the kick pad for me feels little bit tight which made my beater bounced. I usually make the beater buried on the acoustic kick head so I have to adjust the tension.
Hihat pad is kind of a minus for me. If I hit the edge of the hihat top pad, hihat open sounds works well. But if I hit the bow of the hihat pad, the pad sometimes did not recognize my hit. I did hihat auto calibration and adjusted hihat closed tightness to -1, but still I need to find the right spot to make the hihat trigger work smoothly.
Also, crash cymbal pad also had sweet spot and sweet angle. I tilted both of crash cymbals 5~10 degrees towards me. Before I tilted both of them, hitting the edge of the cymbal pad, sometimes mistriggered. But after tilting the cymbals and hitting them with shoulder of the stick, there were almost no mistriggering of cymbal pads.
Snare pads and tom pads were great and sensitive. I did not adjust the tension of all pads. Factory-out tension state suited me well. I really liked the feel of the head.
I heard some machine-gunning sound on snare, so I lowered sensitivity value to -2. This made my snare pad to make ghost note sounds more natural.
People say roland is a great kit, so I was kind of worrying if efnote kit did not worth $2800.
But my first impression of this kit is $2800 is def worth it and if you are considering to buy this kit, I would say go for it. Compared to Roland td-17kvx, you get an additional tom pad, bigger cymbal pads, optical sensor hihat pads, and very natural sound.
I also tried ezdrummer 3 with efnote 3x. Efnote 3x's module and my macbook m1 pro were connected with micro 5-pin to usb-c cable. Then, using usb-b to usb-c cable, my behringer U-PHORIA UMC204HD audio interface and my macbook were connected. I did not install any further midi driver for efnote 3x or the audio interface. Even though ezdrummer 3 does not have preset for efnote kits, ezdrummer itself recognized both of my equipments well. Map&learn function of ezdrummer 3 is so easy and comfortable to make an efnote preset. However, sound volume coming out from the main speaker was too small. Also, ezdrummer3 did not fully recognized efnote's midi velocity in full range. So I gotta figure out some solutions to solve this problem.
I hope this clip will be a guide whenever yall are considering to buy this kit.
    Hope you enjoy :)

I've fully paid for mine and just waiting for it to be delivered. I'll be using Superior Drummer 3 though. I have no idea why people still use the onboard sounds when SD3 sounds so amazing. 😊🤘🤘

@@SkullduggeryVFXYT That’s a really good choice! I bought ezd3 due to limited budget, but I really like the sound. If I had more budget, I would def go with sd3. VSTs are so amazing. Hope you enjoy with ur ekit 😁😁

I’d disagree. I play all my shows/gigs with my ekit and it always sounds great live according to feedback from others. The biggest thing I noticed after touring is that ekits are used on stage way more than people think. Most people just never notice. One thing I did have to really get to know is that it really depends on the pa/speaker you’re playing through etc.

@@DerekScheel As I played this ekit for over a month, audiences gave me positive feedbacks about ekit, especially when I used ezd3.
I agree that good speakers are required. Also, I did realized that good skilled engineer is also an important factor to make the ekit sound great.
My church’s main room has a lot of delay, causing the drum sound very very boomy. Our sound guy just lowered most of the low frequencies and the volume of the bass speaker. Now, ekit sounds so light..

@@needham_b Both main pa and drum monitor speakers are from “Magnetic audio”.
