The soloist on this song is my grandma, her name is Linda. Thank you for all of the beautiful comments I am going to read them to her on Christmas, I don’t think she knows this is on the internet. Again, thank you everyone💙
Oh my my my! Sis Linda once came to San Antonio Texas many years ago! I was in my late teens. I was blown away by her gift that she was able to use under GOD'S ANOINTING! I truely LOVE HER! GOD BLESS!
GLORY TO GOD! I WAS THERE SINGING ON THIS ALBUM! IT WAS GREAT! I'LL NEVER FOR GET THE ANOINTING OF THE GOD PRESENT! REV. JAMES CLEVELAND WAS THE SPECIAL GUEST! CHOIRS AREN'T AS DEDICATED TODAY! BUT JESUS IS THE SAME! GOD BLESS YOU!
Thank Yahweh for this song. Let us all hold onto the hands of Jesus Christ. Let us pray, seek Jesus Christ face, and turn from our wicked ways. I pray for my family, my friends, my roommates, and my neighbors. Let us lined up to Your Word, Yahweh of Armies, love each other as we love ourselves, forgive, repent, and pray without ceasing. In Jesus Christ name'
it doesn't matter where we go or where we now attend church our COGIC roots will last forever. I recall singing this song in Jr. choir in the early 80's Powellview COGIC miss the beautiful saints of ole all gone to glory...
Dr Clark often used Linda because she was such an anointed young woman. She would put Linda and Carol Thomas (from Cleveland Oh-at that time) up in the mid night musicals. They both were blind and powerfully anointed. I used to jokingly say Linda didn't know she was white that's why she sang the way she did. But I loved both of those ladies. Anyone know where they are now? I know Carol did a song on one of John P. Kee older VIP albums-heard she moved to the East Coast. Those were the days!
I can literally feel the power of God in this song! Yes Lord! Hallelujah! This is before my time, but I absolutely LOVE the history of our great music dept!
I have this on repeat at work...the anointing will soothe the savage beast. I know what I'm talking about. Ppl may try to bring the worst out of you but the Lord is such a good Father such a sweet Father such an efficient Father it don't even take much to get me back in line and focused on Him!! To God be the glory!!
Dorinda sound just like her Mama....I thought that was her speaking in the intro for a quick second. #WOW....This is one of my all time favorite songs by the Clark Sisters.
I love this song and this is what I asked God for my life a Praying Spirit to pray all day long and not a separate sprayer for myself but for the whole world those that know God and those that don't know him yet
I was at UNAC in 1980 in Cleveland OH when the soloist sang this song. I have been looking for this song for several weeks and couldn't remember the name. But thank God, I found it! If I remember correctly, the soloist is blind. She is anointed to sing this song!!!
Este louvor me faz chorar ....O espírito santo inunda meu ser aleluia! Da mensagem da harmonia voz coral ...uma música do céu...amo estes hinos ungidos totalmente voltados a adoração ao Rei Jesus...
This was recorded 30 years ago! Linda "P" as I like to refer to her, still has the chops. She is a multi-talented lady. Outside of gospel, her emphasis, she play soul, oldies, country, tex-mex, cumbers, Motown, jazz, and the list goes on! She's equally great in all genres. love that lady. As an aside, her blindness is NOT a handicap!
The lady leading this song is the inimitable Linda Pawlovich of California. This caucasian sister is one of the baddest psalmists ever known. She was really relevant back in the good ole days of COGIC. I have several recordings of her singing at the late night musical during the Holy Convocation "Chisca Hotel days".
Simply Tomas: The Collection Hello, Linda Pawlovich is my grandma. Do you still have those recordings? I would love to be able to show them to her so she can listen to them. She is still around and singing in the church choir 💙
@721rem...you are so right! We can't keep up with all these trends. It's so true, choirs are one of the most important elements of a church. The choir has to be in tune with the pastor because we sit right behind him and choirs help set the atmosphere for the Word of God that's gonna come from the pastor. Wow, that's just a shame your choir stand is gone. Lord have mercy!
This song should be everyone prayer. In order to survive day to day we need a praying spirit to fight the spirits in the air. Ha-ya Keep posting good gospel Johnzoe777!
we used to have this record back when it 1st came out! this is 1 of the many COGIC records that i learned how to play the organ from...THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING
💯Linda P. is Very ANOINTED ...Lyrically & Musically Awesome✊PRAISE & WORSHIP like a rushing of a MIGHTY WIND, that Tears DOWN - Knocks Down opposing forces.. SO ENCOURAGED🎧
Thank you Johnzoe777 for posting all of your albums. I just happened upon your page and want to Thank God somebody has "THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST" out here. I can't stand this new day junk they call the gospel. Contemporary Gospel? whoever decided to yield to the enemy for contemporary fell from Grace. Contemporary is in contempt of THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST. A little leaven levels the whole lump! Thank God for The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I remember that group. When I first heard them, I was amazed. The other song I heard them sing was Name It, Claim It. My God from Zion!!! I didn't know the Clark Sisters sang that. But ummmmm....whew. That's all I can say.
OH LAWD YESSS!! As a kid, I was actually more familiar with the James Cleveland & The Voices Of Cornerstone version of this song (I know y'all heard that one too!) But, I know it's originally a Moss/Clark tune! Either way, classic and beautiful! They honestly don't sing in depth gospel like this anymore!
This brings back memories from 1980 of a group of Holy Ghost filled women from Columbus, Mississippi, who performed the original " A Praying Spirit". This group was called 'FREE SPIRIT' under the direction of Minister Michael Virgil. And when they sang they could have recorded it and stated "This is how it is supposed to sound". No disrespect to my favorites---Twinkie, Jackie, Karen, Dorinda, and Denise, because I love you. But these Mississippi Saints from the Golden Triangle were AWESOME!!
how was your choir rehearsels back then? LOL. we had a "workout" when we learned new songs and practiced old ones. then sing in those hot robes on sunday, LOL.
Linda used to do recordings with all the big time Gospel Artists... Does anyone know where she is today? I used to see her at the convocations all the time as a kid
wow, never put "contemporary" and "contempt" together like that, pretty scary. I like some of the modern songs and the gospel raps too for listening at home and in the car but i wouldnt bring them into the church. i miss the choir sound. oh well.
@bkttkb3214 the church today is acting the way the isrealites acted in the wilderness in the old testement days when they wanted a king like all the other nations and not realizing the blessed living providing God they had before them. churches want to be and look like others when God said we were a "peculiar" ppl. how can the world spot us for help when we look and act and sound like the world. if thats the case, why go to church. it's sad all the way around. just keep praying!
It was political. Originally, they were 5 separate meetings. Bishop German Ross, the first chairman of UNAC had the idea of combining them into one to ease the stress of the saints. Bishop Ford disbanded it to go back to the old way under his leadership. When he died, UNAC was re-convened under the name AIM so as not to be an affront to Bishop Ford. (Sigh) Go figure. COGIC will always be my foundation and heritage but I am no longer a member.

Your grandmother is truly anointed!!! Does she still sing? If you don't mind me asking how old is your grandmother now?
This is such a blessing. May God Almighty bless your grandmother for this wonderful anointed worship, even after many years in Jesus name Amen.
Blessed my soul!!! Im 27 oh well I'd rather hear anointed music like this ANY DAY over a lot of the music now!!! My soul says yes!!!
Amen
Ain't nothing wrong with that! It's a song that can really feed your spirit man
I agree
This version really took me there. Wow wow wow. Thank you Lord!
I think I hit the replay button like 7 times already and about to hit it again ❤️ They don't make Gospel music like this anymore that's pure
That lil bit Dr. Clark sang at 7:35 just does my soul good..love this..good ol' skool cogic sangin.

WOW, James Cleveland was there. AWESOME.
If we had a praying spirit we would be so much my powerful.

Praise the Lord for this type of music that will destroy any yoke and anger any demon. These are blood washed songs. Renee
it doesn't matter where we go or where we now attend church our COGIC roots will last forever. I recall singing this song in Jr. choir in the early 80's Powellview COGIC miss the beautiful saints of ole all gone to glory...
LORD loook over the years we sang our hearts out back then

They were really jammin on this version.
Nothing like the Church of God in Christ! I remember when we had UNAC in Houston, Texas way back in the early 80's.
Yes Lord. Dr. Mattie Moss Clark gave us great music.
I can literally feel the power of God in this song! Yes Lord! Hallelujah! This is before my time, but I absolutely LOVE the history of our great music dept!
So moving. That choir just does it for me, and hearing the story of the soloist is so inspiring. Wish this was available on streaming platforms.

Sad she branched out. She needed more of a praying Spirit to stay away from the world,
yay! we got to live in an era when choirs were ALL THAT and fun AND we got to watch michael jackson too....................when he was black!
