We are back again with more of the worst team series, this time we are in Hoenn. I know you guys are probably going to be expecting us to go to ORAS, but today we are actually going to be covering Ruby and Sapphire instead. I figured this was easier and as much as I wanted to continue best team tradition, Ruby and Sapphire just hold a more dear spot in my heart versus the remakes. But yeah generation 3 pretty much has the same problem as generation 2 does in terms of the physical special split and most Pokemon having really bad movepools. That’s also another reason as to why I wanted to start Ruby and Sapphire in Hoenn first instead of ORAS because of these mechanics. With these mechanics, making a worst team for Hoenn will be easier a lot. I should also mention I will be covering emerald in a separate video because Emerald is actually different in terms of making a worst team so expect that soon enough. For now though, let’s just focus on Ruby and Sapphire. Alright I think you guys get what i'll be doing for this Hoenn worst team, but if you’re new let me get into what a worst team is.

More proof is that in order to use Waterfall, you need to beat the last gym, but in order to get to Sootopolis where the final gym is, you need Dive to get there which you can get from Steven after beating Tate & Liza.
Just use Shadow Ball, it's super effective too.

Würstelkocher 2.0 better physical movepool for the normal type aka a physical type and better physical stats ( though you can run hail or rain dance on castform to make its stab use the right stat to go with its movepool) and also has annoying moves like teeter dance and dizzy punch

Fun fact : Linoone can actually solo the league just at around level 50 without healing in battle .
Every time you mentioned the rivals, I kept hearing "Mayor Brendan" and couldn't stop laughing at the notion.
I've had to use Casform a few times now for Nuzlockes and while this may be better for Emerald you would want to replace Sunny Day probably with Thunder. You face a lot of flying and water types in this game so having that Thunder on a Pokemon that can use Rain Dance. In any case having a 120 base power move with 100 percent accuracy and 30 percent chance of paralysis is awesome.

Agreed. I'd also probably replace secret power with Tail Glow if you're going to put giga drain and thunderbolt on there as well, if only to make its 50 base special attack somewhat usable. It's a shame that tail glow only gives a +2 in gen 3
Kyle Brouwn to be fair pelipper is better against the champion in emerald due to its defensive typing being a great counter to a water user it sucks compared to altaria at every other point yes but altaria gonna get ice beamed before it can set up the dragon dances it needs to sweep

I love the intrinsic challenge of using the Pokemon presented in this series! I love your creativity.
I've actually had quite some success with Castform on a couple of playthroughs of Hoenn, but I use a different moveset based solely around rain dance. I use weather ball (obviously) as main stab move, with thunder (dept store tm on the 4th floor) and ice beam as coverage moves. Works better that way, because you also have the option of immediate damage output instead of being stuck with the 50 base power of weather ball without weather conditions. I also feel that replacing secret power with tail glow on Volbeat would be an improvement due to the fact that normal attacks don't provide additional super effective coverage as opposed to grass and electric, and even a single tail glow makes those moves hit just that much harder.

I tried using a sableye in a sapphire playthrough and it was easily the worst Pokémon on that team. I thought the no weakness to anything was nice but it dies to everything with that 50 base hp, 75 defense and 65 sp defense to go along with a 50 base speed. The attack stats aren’t better either. Atleast it has a decent move pool to play with.

I keep hearing "Mayor Brendan" and wondering what side quest I missed in this game.
I have fond memories of Plusle and Castform. They were part of a nuzlocke. TBH Dusclops did a lot of heavy lifting in that team.
Dustox is worse than Volbeat (which gets Tail Glow and Baton Pass), Delcatty is worse than Linoone, and Spinda is worse than Castform.
Also, if you are going with Linoone, which can learn Surf, then replace Pelipper with Tropius as the flyer. Pelipper has decent Defense and SA, but the only good stat on Tropius is HP.
Yeah, Pelipper is a weird choice here, since from my experience it's actually really good in-gamw thanks to its bulk, typing, and access to some nice moves. Also Keen Eye shuts so much bullshit down

I had a Plusle on my Emerald team and it actually came in handy a number of times. When I got to Mossdeep City, I taught Plusle Dynamic Punch and it took down many Pokémon

Hey mystic umbreon,, I am still playing my favorite pokemon emerald which is a generation3. I've finished all the other generations but I can't finish this game specifically the battle frontier. I only get all the silver symbols. Would you recommend any teams and natures plus the moveset of a pokemon for me to finished the game?
I remember using a Minun even though the Battle Frontier when I played through Emerald. It was surprisingly good, outspeeding plenty of Pokémon and getting at least one KO in by the time it went down. I'm going to guess that it had a Modest nature or something because it was able to deal plenty of damage with Shock Wave and Thunder.

The video is a dark type
with 3 Linoones & 3 Pelippers I won the Elite 4. Each one of them like a "elemental slave" (cover team), two for HM slaves, and the last two with normal TMs. Linoone, with Silk Skarf item, became a great surprise to me. And my best Pelipper beat all gyms in the game (the most difficult was the Electrical gym, shure). Was a nice experience. And pickup ability is a plus in this team.
Tbh I love these worst teams. I'm doing a playthrough with the crystal one and it's been by far one of the best pokemon playthroughs I've done in a very long time. Getting to use pokemon that I never even thought to consider adding to my team for the purpose of using it has been so much fun. Keep up the good work Mystic! Cant wait for the next one.
Was really good for me too tbh. Getting Ekans took a long time for me despite looking for it during the night for some reason but I encountered a Shiny Hoothoot in Route 32 and Shiny Rhyhorn in Victory Road!

idk about a third move but Castform with weather ball, rain dance and thunder is pretty awesome. Stab with weather ball and then 100% accureacy with thunder. I used castform when I was trying to beat the game really fast with blazekin. Castforms other move in that was sunny day. So the weather was chosen based on the team I was fighting but very effective.

In my first playthrough ever, platinum, I actually had a pelliper. It unironically was pretty decent as a team member. It was one of three pokemon little eight year old me used along with Giratina and Infernape.

Pelipper is one of the best in Hoenn! It was my main 'mon the first time I played through Emerald. Had Fly, Surf, Shock Wave (for "mirror matches" against other flying/water types), and Supersonic.

ZeekLTK tropius is a worse flier yes but uh tailow better alteria is better and this is hoeen you’ve got a whole bunch of excellent waters to chose from like lanturn which obliterates pelicans both it’s stabs use the right stat unlike the toilet which has one physical stab and one special stab ( it’s a special attacker so it honestly shouldn’t even carry a flying stab) walrein which is extremely bulky tentacruel is honestly better clampearl’s evolutions both better. It’s towards the bottom of water types

Magcardo is a great in-game pokemon. Ok coverage and can battle multiple types without needing to constantly switch out.

I played a game with a modest nature Castform and it wasn't awful. I set it up with a charcoal for massive power on its Fire Weather ball, and its other moves were Sunny Day, Solarbeam, and Hail to give Weather ball coverage. All in all, not a horrible Pokemon for a casual play through.
Also, you forgot about the fact you can get TM Return early if you bring the meteor back to Cosmo at Fallarbor town after Mt. Chimney.
Also, as someone who beat Omega Ruby using a Minum as my main Pokemon, I object to your Plusle bias.
I had an Emerald playthrough with Sceptile, Pelipper, and Linoone ;-;
A Ruby one with Plusle and Castform (who was my MVP for Drake sweeping him with Hail + Weather ball lol)
and a Sapphire one with Magcargo (although he wasn't really useful lol)

Terrible Pokémon that could've been mentioned: Nosepass, Beautifly, Dustox, Luvdisc, Crawdaunt, Torkoal, Azumarill, Minun, Roselia, Illumise, Spinda, Altaria, Delcatty and possibly more that could've been used as a worse team for the reigion
AnyThingWorx Archived Maybe I am wrong but I also remember Masquerain not being great. Especially in terms of moves. I don't remember its stats. Also, even as a child I always tended to grind and level up my Pokémons. Taking time between each gym. So I've never really been that concerned if some Pokémon were terrible. Especially when I didn't really know if they were in the first place haha. As a kid I was giving them the best moves they could learn by leveling up (I felt that TM were like cheating haha) and training them enough to do the game comfortably haha. I know not everyone does that and it's no indication that a Pokémon is good competitively. That being said I remember really enjoying my Altaria, my Pelipper, my Pulse (which for ages I was hoping or thinking it was gonna evolve lol), my magcargo (which I adored haha) and my crawdaunt. Anyway. I don't take those videos too seriously (also it is clear Mystic is not super able to put aside some of his preferences and biases most of the time I feel haha). It's just a game. Like many if not most people I play with the Pokémons I prefer look wise or because of sentimental value, or depending on the mood (I loved doing the elite 4 with a team of just one type of Pokémon). And as I tended to over level I was thinking they were all great even the ones that were technically not that good. Haha. Anyway. Went on a tangent there lol. I just have a tendency to like Pokémons who seem to end up being shitty or not super popular. What can I say I am a sucker for an underdog haha thinking of myself as if I were in the anime and making a Pokémon reveal its true potential. God I miss being ten haha

If you're gonna go old just grab an emulator. It's a pain to get Pokemon from old games to the new ones legit
You should do a Gen 4 team with Wormadam and/or Cherrim (mainly cause I know they aren’t the best Pokémon and I personally love them)
If you're already running weather, wouldn't it be more prudent to run Thunder on Plusle/Minun? Or Blizzard on Pelipper?

Light Screen might be a bit more useful on Plusle because it can carry over and buff the rest of the team instead of just working for one Pokémon
If I may make a suggestion, i got a idea for a new video: worst mega evolutions. I was recently thinking what mega pokemon were actually bad. Some suggestions for the list: mega aggron, mega beedrill and mega pidgeot. It's your choice if you make it, but at least consider it please.

So I remember when I first played Emerald (my second game after FRLG), I somehow beat the game with a team consisting of Swampert, Swellow and Pelipper.

Good video mostly. I heavily disagree with linoone and pelipper. Linoone gets stab headbutt extremely early and it even gets mud sport for wattson. Linoone also sweeps the elite 4 entirely. As for peilipper, it is one of the best Pokémon in the game. It water guns the first gym, wing attacks the second gym, water guns the fourth gym, uses protect strats on the slaking in the fifth gym, shock waves and ice beams the 6th gym, surfs the seventh gym, and shock waves the final gym. It then shock waves glacia’s walrein, ice beams drakes dragons, and shock waves Wallace’s water types.

What about agility and (optional) double team on minun to baton pass? I did something similar with Ninjask in my bug run and it made Volbeat (with tail glow and shock wave) my MVP as it destroyed most of the E4.
I used Volbeat in a Mono Bug Team for Emerald months ago with an identical moveset, except for Secret Power, I had Tail Glow instead and surprisingly it was the MVP of the team, also I love it now cause of that, destroyed Wallace's team with it.
