I just got mine and ran it yesterday on 3s, great run times. I ran 3 packs of Traxxas 5000mah. Each session lasted just about 25 min. I set up my jump at 2-2.5 feet the truck handles like a brick in the air. It wants to point it's tail end down immediately. I noticed that hitting the brakes as soon as air born then giving forward throttle settled it down. Definitely does not jump like it's bigger brother the X. I do so far really like this truck for what it is and that is a super strong chassis basher. If flips are not it's strong suit then I have my EREVO 2.0 for that. The EREVO is not as strong but for flips in the air it excels. Today I will be heading to my local bmx track. I will report back if anyone is interested in how she faired.

I think this took a pretty good beating and I'm actually surprised it didn't break. Some of those landings would have claimed an a-arm or worse in some of the other cars I've tested. So, in your case, I think it did very well in durability. However, when it comes to handling, I'm sorry to say, this truck blows! Nearly every jump you landed, whether it was on all 4's or not, it flipped itself over and ended up on it's roof. You couldn't build up speed as the front would pop up nearly every time and just looked un-tuned and unbalanced throughout the run. Maybe this is what a "monster truck" is meant to be or maybe we have been spoiled with LCG chassis from other brands that are advertised as MTs but really aren't, either way, what a frustrating truck to drive. Cool looking truck, has heaps of power, seems pretty tough from I saw here but, keeping in mind I'm not taking your driving into account, the handling of this truck is just awful. Maybe try a different terrain or some different tyres to see if it improves in any way, because I'm pretty sure I have a Banggood truck or 2 that will out-handle this truck at half the price. They may not be as tough or as fast, that's true, but they drive way better. Cool video Tony, you gave it hell and it kept going, but you need to try and keep the sun behind you so we can see the truck mid flight and you don't burn your retinas looking at it. ;) Loved the mid vid, on the go fix up when that pin popped out, it was cool to see that. Great job, man, well done. :)

You do a great job at making this video fun to watch and you have a rather cool setup in your backyard to have a blast with this truck! I received my Traxxas Maxx last Monday and Tuesday evening I ran it all out on 4s at 50 mph and hit the brake and it rolled tail over front a good 50 feet till it stopped. It was dark and I didn't realize I lost the joint on my left side on the inside that holds the 2 plastic shaft sections together was gone. I think I broke the clip and the metal assemble just fell off some where. I didn't even notice anything broken till I was trying to show a friend the self right feature and all it did was mostly try to run the right side and the left front wheel didn't do anything. Then I realized I broke it already! Bummer. On the Traxxas app I turned down my brake power from 100% down to 80% and not it skids and slows down to a stop but now it won't lose control and start flipping out and rolling down the road. I swapped over to 3s lipo and now only do a max speed of 40 mph, but now my battery stays in the compartment and don't need the strap to hold the battery door and battery in place like we do with the 4s lipo. I am loving this new Truck and the green and blue design is absolutely beautiful. 1st night I already did the Drywall tape and Shoe Goo treatment on the inside of the body! I am so looking forward to the light kit and wide Maxx kit coming real soon! Thanks for the video and keep on bashing!
Great video showing how tough it is 👍 We got two outing on ours with 3.5 yr old driving and everything survived - he did break my xmaxx front bumper and his axial Jeep’s drive shaft and a front link, so he is a pretty legitimate tester lol
🐸 Gave MAXX a good beating, did well definitely “MAXX strength” in action. Enjoyed the single flip into double flip after landing bounce. Great bashing Tony seems like Velcro worked just fine to secure the battery, not counting the battery ejection, some Velcro straps have silicone coating for grip on smooth Velcro backing surface, seems like it held fine after tightening though.
The Velcro works great. I pulled out the foam piece to center the battery before to get the original plastic hold down to bend into place. I did spray this whole thing down with WD40 after the first bash and let it soak.

Yes Dan that is a good way to clean it. It's waterproof so your good to go. If you want to see alot of good videos on cleaning look up "Botajell how I clean my rc's" he uses simple green and water then a compressor then silicone spray. He's a gas/nitro guy but it's all similar. Seems your having fun with your new truck and new to the hobby, that's awesome man. Have fun!!
Yea thanks I called the hobby store and they said I shouldn’t have put water over the electronics because water can get into the receiver box on mine so I’ll open that up to check, and for the wd-40 they say don’t use that since it makes it sticky and attracts dirt so I need to spend more money on a better alternative lol
Dan Berger WD40 does attract dirt, but it also repels water. If you keep up on cleaning it and re-applying...it works. I like to do an initial WD40 on the plastics to help make them more flexible. I do like Moo Slick for coating the chassis to make it easy to clean.
@@CCxRC hey tony do you have a cen reeper? I'm thinking of grabbing one and wondering your opinion of it if you have one. I thought I remember you having one
Man...mine broke on a minor well landed jump 😲..maybe it was just weak and waiting to break....regardless I am down for the weekend while everyone else is driving 😡.
Great durability testing Tony. Many of the tumbles after landings are the trucks fault, not yours. I'm throwing some shade on the MAXX for terrible out of box suspension tuning. Big showy shocks but wrong oil/springs for this truck, it chassis slaps and bounces constantly.
I completely agree. You could sense my frustration with how much it was on its kid. Needs to be tough and have self-righting because it doesn’t drive great.
All those awful landings remind me of my stampede 4x4 when I went to 3S. Getting the brakes dialed down enough to still stop well but not cause spastic action in the air is a fine line.
That's a nice bash and I'm really impressed it took it all with minimal damage. Lights are ok, but not if you drive that way. Just take them off. Or solder back the wire :) And about the plastic: if that was a metal chassis it would like a banana right now.
So I just got one yesterday.. I will say that I am impressed that I didn't break with some of your landings.. buy I did notice that for the money there is a lot of plastic..
Plastic is really not as bad, as some people give it credit for. Plastic just needs to be thick and sturdy enough. When you impact plastic flexes and goes back, unless it breaks obviously. But metal it bends and you are never gonna get it back to the way it was before. For me in most circumstances, plastic is superior and cheaper to boot.
Lol to give you all an even better idea of how tough the traxxas maxx is. I own one and did a bashing session similar to this one. Only difference was I was doing it with an already cracked bulkhead i didnt know i had and it didnt bother it none at all.
Maybe it was one of those days. On the other hand, for what I’ve seen on UA-cam, perhaps the Maxx is a little top heavy. Very funny video! Keep bashing!
That pin on mine kept popping out until it broke the steering block where it goes only after like 5 runs. I ordered them already. I'm surprised that your tires didn't blow BC of not venting them. I always vent and gorilla tape my tires. Yup no lights for any of my bashers. Now my crawlers have a whole bunch of them 😂
It's all right , my arrma notorious will take punishment like that all day as well , I've only broken a arms on one side , changed out to all rpm arms and haven't broken anything else.
As much as i love my E-revo 2.0. It would not have taken these landings as well as the Maxx. Pretty sure that it would have been in 2 or 3 pieces :P Might chance to this. I'm not a very good driver as well!, so having something this sturdy is amazing.
that sticker on rear threw off the balance of the maxx. thats why it didn't land any tricks. lmao 😂 i'm buying some of your cool stickers to put on mustangs windows. you have some cool merch btw 🔥
This is why I wait to buy new toys.Because I’ll let the first consumers test them out contract traxxas of their issues then wait another year for them to re-release it with better parts.
Well you get an A+ for trying to kill it!! Maxx gets an A+ for having the snot beaten out of it and surviving! Did you ever try to soften the shocks also I've heard from Kevin Talbot and Sparks that if you spray Traxxas plastics down real good with WD40 it soaks in and softens them for less breakage.
Damn this is one tuff SOB!! Who said Arrma was the only one ? 😮 This is definitely stronger than the Kraton 4S! If it’s the Kraton the driveshafts would of already went
Sucks about the lights. I've seen 3 videos today and 3 people have breakages. Tell jaytee this truck can take a beating lol. He might beg to differ. Maybe just a fluke with his truck. Time will tell. Edit: but this truck definitely took a beating in this. It's just funny the bad rc luck some of us can experience with you having a bash like this and it surviving and jaytee doing baby jumps and completely shearing a drive shaft when it shouldn't have.
Jaytee use to be a all around rc guy and unbias but lately he seems to be leading the arrma army, I wouldn't be surprised if he rigged the maxx to break just to say his arrma is better. Im dead serious
@@simbanugz2906 I'm maybe one of the first guy who would critic Jaytee about his reviews espacially on some chineses cars that i own too and i have a total different experience with these cars about their durabilty. Even with Vas, there isn't enough bad landing and too much driving skill to do a review about durability imo and for my taste, espacially about those same chineses cars (i also did be really disapointed by a car that Vas reviewed as good, and i bought it after have watched his review, when mine had issues on issues without doing any big jumps or even hard bashing). These reviews from them aren't bad finally, now i just take their reviews as they are and watch other reviews and know that the best is to test the cars by ourself. For any reviewers we must take in consideration how they drive the cars, what they like and expect about these cars, on what surface they use them (loose surface give less stress to drive train, as for wet grass compared to dry grass, or concret)...And i have nothing against chinese products, i own lot of chinese cars, but when, from my experiences, they don't worth it, even if they are "cheap", i say it, this stay my opinion on these cars. But i wouldn't say that JayTee would be weird at this point to modifiy a car for making it weak, he own many TRX and he will still buy TRX cars.
It's possible they were talking about me. I'm in there all the time chatting with them and buying something 😂. I did buy this from them last week. I haven't tried it on 2S because it's rated for 3s-4s.
CCxRC yeah. They said the guy with the alien stickers is a local YT’er and then i saw this video and figured it was you. Yeah I know what the specs are on the ESC but at the event traxxas did showing it off the guy said you could use 2s and I prefer an overall slower vehicle. If you ever try it out let me know. I’m anxious to see what it’s like 🤷♂️
I didn't like driving it until i added the wide maxx kit. Too much power for the narrow stance and height the weight sits. Rolled over non-stop. If you drive on loose dirt, it was ok but anywhere else was awful. The wide kit helped, but that puts you in $600 almost on it. But it really is a pretty solid truck.
Man, my upgraded Kraton would have at least broke an arm or bent the rear shock tower by the 5th minute! Heck, my 8th scale buggy would have broken (RC8.2e)! I haven't ran my Maxx yet but plan too today or tomorrow. You sure beat the mess out of your truck! Found Traxxas' upgrade for the axles on their web site tonight. It will fit the E-Revo splined hexes then will use a standard 8th scale wheel nut. JaTee's axle broke right where the pin holds the axle to the plastic part of the axle right in the middle of the hub. Your truck held up very well!.

CCxRC yes sir, preordered on their website cause I'm actually about 2 1/2 hours from McKinney Texas where they make em. I figured it wouldn't take long to get one being not far from the factory.
I'm kind of split on getting this or the e revo 2.0. both seem like awesome trucks. The maxx seems to be more durable but the e revo takes jumps better and can do 6s for $50 more.
David Fernandez you gotta make that call. I feel like the outcast handles the power better. This is pretty tough to survive not being as stable and crashing a lot. 😂 but I’m loving my Outcast. Need to get it out for more videos. Focused on this since it is new and getting views.
Great Beatdown Bash Brother 💯🤜💥🤛 You definitely put some pain to the Traxxas Maxx and it drove away intact 😀👍👍 the telemetry app is a nice feature too ✌️😎👍 HFLPRCing
not a bad looking rig.. This thing really slaps the ground hard tony. Even when a decent landing. maybe some stiffer springs or heavier oil in the shocks? Great test run though brother.. really put it through its paces.. Oh and personally I think 3S would make this thing more fun to drive and not as CRAZY...lol
RcNickster agree. The front end really slaps. But if I stuffed it too much, i Fear it will roll more when driving. Honestly, I won’t jump this big after the initial durability tests....or at least not that many time in a row. 😂
It seems like it took a beating but it also seems hard to control and fly through the air that good. Even the good landings it would would end up on it's back. But it definitely seems really tough!! I mean I've never seen you have that many bad landings. It just seems tough to jump and keep on its feet.
I prefer see terrible driving and bad landings which show how durable can be a car. Those bad landings were rough indeed, and the truck take them, i must admit it seems tough from your video. Maybe you will do a video which show more closely each parts, because, just after a bashing session, we don't often see everything which went wrong, something which start to crack, unscrewed things, slightly bent things...

Bashed mine hard today.. battery strap mod from a-main is awesome packs stay in place perfectly!!
John Bailey they really are fantastic!
Man you killed that thing! Lol. Thanks for the vid
Or solder back the wire :)
And about the plastic: if that was a metal chassis it would like a banana right now.
Well it's a 10th scale so there is no need for a metal chassis being such a smaller truck
Quite a thrashing Tony! Great video as always 👊🏼👊🏼👍🏻👍🏻.
The Maxx is crazy fast, gonna buy one. Thanks
😲😲 Man you HAMMERED it! That thing is strong as hell! it was taking a royal beating!! Nice SUPER BASH Tony!!!
Wish I would’ve landed more. But it did take a beating. I did the WD40 treatment on al the plastic
So I just got one yesterday.. I will say that I am impressed that I didn't break with some of your landings.. buy I did notice that for the money there is a lot of plastic..
Plastic is why it didn’t bend in half. 😂 I also sprayed it down with WD40 to make it more flexible.
I love my maxx. Just set up the tqi for my phone too and the settings are awesome. Traxxas really did well with this i feel.
Enjoyable to watch 💯
Lol to give you all an even better idea of how tough the traxxas maxx is. I own one and did a bashing session similar to this one. Only difference was I was doing it with an already cracked bulkhead i didnt know i had and it didnt bother it none at all.
Nice bashing anyway thanks for sharing. This truck can take more then this, I send it in the dunes.
Your driving was great you showed that truck can take a beating
thanks! one thing rarely mentioned: it's over 10 pounds.(and feels heavier). you gave it a good beating!
hold my beer, please.
We all have bad days, enjoyed 👍🏻
I wish I had a backyard like that!
truck seems awesome, your driving and crashing hard makes for an awesome video every time tony!!.
hey great video! Do you have the stock shock oil still in the shocks? the bottoming out of the chassis always makes me cringe! lol
Stock. Needs something a bit stiffer
I can’t believe you didn’t break it.. wow that truck takes a beating
haha where is the battery?? that was funny. good stuff thanks man. Bash on!
Maybe it was one of those days. On the other hand, for what I’ve seen on UA-cam, perhaps the Maxx is a little top heavy. Very funny video! Keep bashing!
I'm a very Big fan of Lights. The more lights the better.
That pin on mine kept popping out until it broke the steering block where it goes only after like 5 runs. I ordered them already. I'm surprised that your tires didn't blow BC of not venting them. I always vent and gorilla tape my tires. Yup no lights for any of my bashers. Now my crawlers have a whole bunch of them 😂
Some of those hits hurt me! lol
STEVO D 313 yeah man. It’s heavy and makes a loud impact
Definitely no traxxas fan boy here 😂
Crazy 🤪it just keeps going
It's all right , my arrma notorious will take punishment like that all day as well , I've only broken a arms on one side , changed out to all rpm arms and haven't broken anything else.
does turning off the TSM help in flip?
As much as i love my E-revo 2.0. It would not have taken these landings as well as the Maxx. Pretty sure that it would have been in 2 or 3 pieces :P
Might chance to this.
It sounds like Dr Steve Brule's RC channel. 🤣
Wreck it Ralph wrecks RCs
@@CCxRC Yes!! 🤜🤛
Maaaan, took a beating that was painful to watch in parts, but a great test and I still can’t wait for mine.
Eight (8) separate screens of apps on your phone?! Some people take the whole "computer in your pocket" line too seriously, lol.
This is why I wait to buy new toys.Because I’ll let the first consumers test them out contract traxxas of their issues then wait another year for them to re-release it with better parts.
Too bad they haven't fixed the erevo
Smart man
I'm thinking that the Arrma kraton 4s might be better value for money. I do like the Traxxas Maxx and I agree it's a basher.
Prefer slash or Maxx?
Awesome video Tony!
Some perfect landing. Practice makes perfect.
RC Intro haha. Thanks man. Yes, I do the WD40 spray down them. That’s all I’ve done to this besides the battery straps.
Damn this is one tuff SOB!! Who said Arrma was the only one ? 😮 This is definitely stronger than the Kraton 4S! If it’s the Kraton the driveshafts would of already went
Hey dude,
Watched a few of ur vids,
Traxxas maxx or hoss ?
I’m torn
@@simbanugz2906 LOL. Right... Because he's never broken any other car from any other brand on his channel before... 🙄🤦🏼♂️😂
Man what are you on? lol Jaytee has such a huge variety of vehicles on his channel.
Simba Nugz Grow up man they're just toy cars
I think the guys at Hobby Town VB were talking about you? Did you get this from them? Also, have you tried running 2s on this?
It's possible they were talking about me. I'm in there all the time chatting with them and buying something 😂. I did buy this from them last week. I haven't tried it on 2S because it's rated for 3s-4s.
CCxRC yeah. They said the guy with the alien stickers is a local YT’er and then i saw this video and figured it was you. Yeah I know what the specs are on the ESC but at the event traxxas did showing it off the guy said you could use 2s and I prefer an overall slower vehicle. If you ever try it out let me know. I’m anxious to see what it’s like 🤷♂️
Awesome video buddy! You use a GoPro on your head!!??
Yes. I have a hat clip that it sits on.
CCxRC genius! I can’t wear hats because of my hair😂 maybe I’ll fashion up a hair clip!
seemed like it took some good abuse. I want to drive one before I buy one. Wish you could do more test drives of truck before you buy lol.
Definitely tough truck 👍🏾
Master Basher :D
How would you say this is compared to the Zombie 8E durability wise?
Nice bash I think a wider stance would have made it a better truck👍
Bro is that the large or Medium pure tech battery tray strap your Using
Large. I cut off excess though.
CCxRC thanks bro dang the long ones out of stock they only have the medium ones
That x maxx chassis is durable.
Someone as the link for those battery strap??
Wow that car seems amazing, so much People are praising it but also much hate. Can you recomend it or is there something beter for same or less money?
I didn't like driving it until i added the wide maxx kit. Too much power for the narrow stance and height the weight sits. Rolled over non-stop. If you drive on loose dirt, it was ok but anywhere else was awful. The wide kit helped, but that puts you in $600 almost on it. But it really is a pretty solid truck.
@@CCxRC ow alright then. Which car would you recomend then instead of the maxx? Kraton 4s, granite 3s? Or some other brand/model?
Your truck held up very well!.
you're FULL of shiet...those will plastic drivelines will snap like TWIGS..
just give it 4-5 runs. Pushing plastic magic GARBAGE again arnt ya.
@@spike-- i dont own an ARMMa...I do have a KM extended 1/8 which an HPI Up grade. It has metal driveline all around for REASONS. it comes with 4mm thick chassis out of the box
I also an RC8 with a 4076 2250kv install in it too..it has CVD all around and METAL Knockles....and adjustable tie rods...the only thing
that's plastic are just the A arms...but they're BEEFY.
The maxx has a 3675 ( can size) in it at most. You all act as if 10 year old purchase these $400-$500 toys...sell HOrsesheit...instead of making Traxxass put out better products. They'll keep selling CRAP.if people purchase CRAP....fan boy or Mr. TRAXXASS SALEMAN
@@spike-- sure your not...STOP PUSHING OVER PRICED PLASTIC JUNK or Drop the PRICE..it'll need METAL DRIVES and other things to make it run ...It must mater to you. You LOVE MAGIC PLASTIC.
@@spike-- and ..no Bitch..i dont have extra money to burn on over PRICED PLASTIC JUNK toys. i dont give a rats arss what brand it is.
@@spike-- why you cry?? you run out of ideas for sales pitch? I aint supporting your crack habits...Call uncle Joe for that.FFs
It does look like a mini xmaxx that takes a beating great bash test
Hey Tony, do you know when these will be shipping out from TRAXXAS? I've got one on preorder and I'm just wondering if u might have any release date info for me. It's really hard to sit here and watch u give yours a beating, knowing that the rest of us are waiting for a few more weeks...😔
They are released and already in hobby shops. Not sure when the shipments will go out. Did you buy direct from Traxxas?
CCxRC yes sir, preordered on their website cause I'm actually about 2 1/2 hours from McKinney Texas where they make em. I figured it wouldn't take long to get one being not far from the factory.
I'm kind of split on getting this or the e revo 2.0. both seem like awesome trucks. The maxx seems to be more durable but the e revo takes jumps better and can do 6s for $50 more.
I have a new video coming with better jumps. This had water in the wheels.
Wow nice thanks for sharing
So this or an Arrma outcast 6s?
✌🏻😎🏴I was going to ask you about lighting options in the app. Never mind, lights are for shelf queens anyway. How do you like the app?
RC Masked Master the app was a bit confusing at first. Didn’t know where to go to connect. Now that it’s connected, it’s decent.
Front 'Flips!
I put pictures on Instagram. I can do a once over video to show it though.
@@CCxRC That would be nice, i don't use any social media and i mainly go on forum, even for the reviews i do.
Very nice
You confused me you said “getting ready to bash the Xmaxx again 😳🤓 At the beginning of video 🤪👍🏼
ThatsMyRc it’s so hard to not say that
Traxxas Max for sale, used once to test, very durable 😂
Those temps are not rite . Wen you turn it on with out running it at all it reads 89 degrees . Get the expander and the auto detectable senors those are accurate
John Conley that’s right temp for here at the time. It was hot out so anything would’ve started at that temp.
Now that's what u call bashing..!!!!
Beat down! 😂
great video :}
