    Welcome to Make My Space Work - a series where Shopify, in partnership with home decor expert Alexandra Gater, gift entrepreneurs with makeovers to make their spaces more functional and beautiful.
    What would the ideal workspace look like for a full-time student running their own business? This is the challenge Alexandra takes on in this episode of Make My Space Work. Yandy is a student who also runs a handmade greeting card business from the spare room of her condo. She's looking for a space that inspires her to get creative and doesn't hide all her supplies. For this makeover, Alexandra wants to make Yandy a giant pegboard to organize and display all of her materials and accessories. Armed with a $300 budget, Alexandra has 24 hours to create the pegboard of Yandy's dreams and make her space work. Can she do it? Watch to find out!

    It looks beautiful but I have to wonder about the practicality of thoes washy tapes? If you tried to use it like a big dispenser you could pull the whole thing off the wall, and if you needed to bring a roll to your desk you'd have to take everything else off the dowel to get it.... Usually think you have pretty genius ideas but this one just struck me as rushed.

    LOVE IT! The only change that I'd do is to put the washi tape on metal shower curtain rings so you don't need to take 40 off to get to one. But then that wouldn't look as nice either. I've always LOVED the pegboard-as-storage/display idea for craft rooms, so great job!

    • @julezburn1024
      @julezburn1024 4 роки тому +7

      Oof. As someone who owns about a hundred rolls of it, I can't imagine having to take a roll-off the middle of that dowel everytime I wanted to use it or walk over to the wall just to get a little piece. Super cute, but not at all functional

    • @Kath-Erina
      @Kath-Erina 4 роки тому +1

      @@julezburn1024 the good thing is you don't have to pull it our from the middle, just unroll as much as you need when it's on the dowel ;) but yes for sure it would be more practical if it was above her desk so she woulndt have to get up from her desk, interrupting the work flow and go there every time.
      And as a few others said, yes it's super cool but I would have loved if she reorganised the rest of the room, maybe paint those bookcases a pastel colour for a cheap upgrade. Then she could have put this towels above her desk etc and not just hang and decorate the pegboard

    I made one of these, sort of. I used metal grid, stores often use it for displays. I chose it because I had such a variety of things to use with it. I found stuff from IKEA, Daisio, Home Depot and Harbor Freight. I liked the idea so much I am using some leftover bit for a little one in my kitchen.

    • @CathyS_Bx

    Decent makeover at a relatively decent price. Ink pads need to be stored flat and I would get clear containers for the markers to store them flat or tip side down. The paper needs to be taken up off the floor in case there's ever a spill it won't be ruined. The washi tape rod would be a cute idea for ribbons but the way I use tape I would be constantly having to take the rod down to get the to tape I need.

    Very fun and aesthetically pleasing. Seems like the client got a certain function + beauty she wanted! I really like how client can easily tweak and customize it, including even, as needed, adding more white, clear, or wood storage that blends in like that papers shelf does. The easy customization seems great for client cause immediately she said she may reorganize it seasonally.
    Two little constructive criticisms or curiosities. I'm curious if even more holes would be useful. And not everyone likes white but some or many designers use it as a go-to so when I see white I wonder if it's the client's top choice or they'd prefer a neutral, color, black, or warm off-white.
