Nice video, shame about all those ugly wires everywhere. When I think I started my lightgun journey using a wireless wii controller in a plastic gun shell £10 and+ a dolphin bar £20 and all I had was 1 wire down the back of my cabinet plugging into my usb port on the pc. They really need to drop the prices on this and sort all those wires out

@@otaking3582 well knowing that light gun games are usually 18,000 dollars, cutting it down to 200-300 dollars is actually a budget for light gun games. No one is rich just for buying this and having 200-300 dollars. It can easily be achieved if you have a job.

A budget toothbrush can cost $1 compared to an expensive $60 toothbrush, a budget lightgun costs a few hundred dollars compared to several thousands of dollars. Just because this isn't something you can afford doesn't mean it's not a budget solution for the category it's in.

I have exactly this product, and I love it. The only complaint I have is the only option for audio is coming thru HDMI. Some monitor I have do not have speakers.
Yeah, I was happy to find this HDMI monitor with speakers build-in 🤣
I had the same problem with The C64 and Amiga Mini. Solved it with a box that takes HDMI in and outputs HDMI and optical audio. Of course, this means yet more cables and another power connector! But it works great.

I had this problem installing Retro Shooter in a converted Arcade1up cabinet connected to a 19in monitor with no speakers. I used a module with HDMI “In” that split audio to RCA out. Connected to a mini Amp & subwoofer for great sound!
That is the way I play House of the Dead Overkill with Two guns at the same time.

They offered an upgrade kit for those of us who bought the two sensor version to upgrade to four sensors. I installed that and have the new games now too.
Thanks wicked for the review, I don't understand about people complaining about the price I think it's pretty good, here in New Zealand it's hard to find light guns now, i have ps2 and kos of how hard they are to find people are selling 2 for like are 100 bucks each, and if u want a sinden 1 gun is 190 NZD, ginsfir are out of the question, I went on retro shooter website and they deliver to NZ and with the adaptor the cepaest option is 342, NZD.Considering how hard it is to find light guns then have to get a crt tv as well I think this a great option for us here, Let's not forget all the games u can play on the pandora box, yes the box is underpowered a little but for the average person like me it will suffice and if u get the adaptor and play off pc and get botceria it's even better, I'm turning 40 this year and my wife is getting me one, cheaper than a ps5 as well xbox, I personally think it's great value

Select retro shooter guns , it will give you the option of 1 or 2 guns, pay then in a couple of weeks use them like I am .
I want one but 200+ USD is kinda steep but seems worth no longer having to rely on CRT display
I really just want the guns/ sensors for MAME, for the price these guns seems to be pretty decent
I had come up with an easy design for a light gun, based on the namco gcon 45 design, designed PCBs, bought df robot cameras etc to build them up, and although PCB way would print my circuit boards, they won't 3d print the shells for the light guns, as it's their policy not to print ANYTHING that resembles a weapon, not even if it's a game controller of a fantasy buck Rogers 1950s laser gun type design. I've got a couple of 3d printers but nothing that can print in the quality of way provide. So now I think I'm going to have to 3d print a shell, sand it, filler etc to get it perf etc then make a set of silicone moulds from it and then resin cast them. It's a lot of hassle when PCB way could do them for me a lot easier. The nky other way around it would be to split my design up in to lots of separate pieces, so none of them look like they come from a gun design. But then I'll have to attach all the parts together, and. I don't think it will look that great afterwards. I like the design of these in this video though. But even if I did a similar thing, PCB way still won't 3d print them.

I love it but would love to be able to turn off the solenoid thing as I have a restaurant/bar so during certain occasions, yes crank it up, but during a dinner service type deal , would be good to turn it off

you can press and hold the trigger while powering on the console. This will turn off the recoil. If you are using them on a PC, just press and hold the trigger when powering on the hub.

My TV wouldn't work with those sensors. It has almost no bezel and the border around it is triangular so it would just fall off. The original sensors work fine on the top.
I'd love to build my own Arcade with this type of light-guns but I wouldn't know where to start...
This is maybe the most easy solution you can get.
I would go for the Pandora 10th edition this haves an easy solution for jamma connections for the input controls.

I have it, i enjoy it, but the people selling are poor at customer service, i missed out on the light gun upgrade they were offering for a limited only, i almost beg them if i could buy, but they kept denying me, they just didnt want to make me a favor by letting me buy it.
Again, love the product but hate the guys selling it.
My only option would be to buy the whole package again just to get this upgraded version, which is ridiculous and totally out of the question.
I love the look of this, but it looks like a cable nightmare. If only the sensors were battery powered, I'd spunk my money at them. But maybe one day!

We do have problem when it comes to the power of this thing.
If you want to go full Light-gun mode you should look into a PC Windows build maybe.
And combine that with Retro Shooter.
Pretty impressive, but is there a full game list anywhere? There's a few specific titles I'd like to if they're on there or not.
Also, I saw a bunch of fighting games on the first menu? Does this thing support regular controllers for those?

Great video but far too many things put me off this device.
A) That recoil feature would annoy me so much. Doesn’t even look like it can be turned off.

You should look into Gun4IR or Sinden.
Get a basic 60$ pc with batocera.
In the end there are not alot of cheaper options. 😄

The sensor cables are pretty easy to hide behind the TV or some people feed it through the wall. We recommend connecting the USB to the back of your TV, not to the console.
does this one comes preloaded with games? because the website says the console comes not with any games /: and i not gonna download illegal roms without supporting the devs this feels not right.

There is no gap under my TV, do you know if I would I be able to clip the sensors on the front of it or does it need to be underneath?
You can stick them on the front, if there's enough room. They come with double-sided sticky strips (although I used my own 3M Command Tape instead, to make sure it'd come off cleanly if I need to remove it).

The recoil is actually a motor not a solenoid
Was it not a mech solenoid concept ?
@@WickedGamerCollectornope they went with motor to extend the lifespan of the recoil as it’s harder to burn out a motor than a solenoid . A solenoid recoil means it’s an electro magnet pulling a piston against a spring . The magnetic charge is then quickly released causing the piston to shoot out and hit a piece of plastic which makes the recoil hit noise. This mechanism on retroshooter is a motor spinning a gear that’s attached to a spring loaded piston on a latch so the sound has a wind up effect rather than a solid hit. The benefit is it can do auto fire for longer compared to smaller solenoids which will stop working after a certain amount of heat is generated. The downside is sound effect isn’t for everyone and the power is usually weaker since it’s a spin rather than a powerful pull punch

If you have a spare powered USB port on the back of your TV, there isn't much mess from the sensors. My only complaint with them is that you have to have a cable sticking out BOTH sides of two of the sensors (which then chain to another sensor each), when it would've been nice to have a port on the back to avoid that. But there are still two cables per gun (going to opposite sides of the console, too, if you use that; although the PC USB HUB thing is better laid out) and a cable per pedal, so there is a mess, but the sensors don't really add to it IMO, as all of those wires are tied up behind the TV, except the two that stick out the side.
@@LeoDavidson I know what you mean, We can't make everything wireless but maybe a wireless pedal. You can also look at 90 degree USB-C connections. I use them on my TV but it wouldn't work if you mounted the sensor to the face of the TV or arcade cab.
@@theretroshooter Wireless pedal would be really cool! I can see how a wireless gun would be hard unless it either had no recoil or a very heavy and expensive battery.

I bought these after fighting with the Sinden software for months. (Then you get it working but the sun is in a different direction and now they don't work again.) Only got the the RS guns a few days ago and haven't used them much, but already more than the Sindens as they actually work out of the box, lol. Still setting up a PC to use with them, though, so I don't know if there will still be some issues there. The Pandora's Box is a bit better than I thought but not what I plan to use long-term, and missing some important games/versions.

You can customize that, like change it to just one ricochet instead of machine gun type ricochet, or you can turn it off. I’m am not sure if there is any light gun with recoil that does not make a sound yet.

The gun handle design is not good and hurts after using it for some minutes. Unfortunately they copied the handle design from the Sinden gun which is also a bad design and hurts after using it for some minutes. What they should have done is copied the Namco Guncon design which is great and very comfortable even after using it for several hours. Oh well, back to the drawing board.....

A Sinden lightgun is $129 each. If you want two guns it comes to $260...which is literally the same price as the RetroShooter package with two guns, pedals, and console. Check your math and think harder about it.
the problem with light guns is the lag on oled and lcd screen, you need an old crt tvs to make this work flawlessly
