It's true. Battling Team Rocket was a good chunk of Ash's training, wasn't it? Pikachu especially. Little guy needed every last experience point he possessed to withstand that Fire Blast from Charizard and be ready to land that knockout blow with Thunderbolt. And a lot of that came from repeatedly rendering the Rockets extra-crispy, I would say. Which then means that if Team Rocket never started going after Pikachu in the first place, it probably would never have gotten so strong. Like, they think it's super strong because its Thunder Shock blew up the Pokémon Center, that's why they went after it to begin with, but the fact of the matter is, it was just average strength. What really did the job was Pikachu's Thunder Shock, combined with those other Pikachu's attacks, and Ash generating power with the remnants of Misty's bike, reacting to... Koffing's Smog. And that means Ash would not have become the world champion if it weren't for James's Weezing.
She was really awful to it when it was a Caterpie when it tried to be friends she screamed at it to go away making it cry I noticed when Butterfree is about to take off Misty goes we'll miss you and Butterfree doesn't acknowledge her comments at all and only focused on Ash rightly so haha.
Well for your information, I think all of the Pokemon evolution scenes are my absolute favorite Pokemon evolution scenes of all time! Because they are so awe-inspiring, I feel like I want to assemble my very own Pokemon dream team.
You can, actually! ...That is, if you have a 3ds with the Pokemon Sun and Moon Demo in it. Only then can you bask under the glory of Ash-Greninja's might.
Honorable Mentions: Cyndaquil evolved into Quilava Eevee with the help bond with Serena though she managed to evolve into Sylveon Brionne evolves into Primarina
One of my favorite evolutions was Paul's Elekid evolving while battling alongside Ash's Chimchar. Even though they were on the same team one last time, it felt like the turning point when the two went from allies to bitter rivals in the Diamond/Pearl series and now Chimchar was playing the catch-up game despite Electabuzz being on his side of the field.
One of my favorite evolutions was Serena's Eevee into Sylveon. It happened right as the timid pokemon was starting to break out of her shell, and in the nick of time to as they were losing in a surprise battle. I also love Goh's Drizzile evolving into Intelleon as initially as a Sobble it looked up to an Intelleon and wanted to evolve into it and began to work harder and break out of its crybaby nature. But instead he evolved into Drizzile and was very disappointed and went into a full emo shut-in state. When it finally broke out it evolved and proceeded to be the confident suave Pokemon we all know and love. And he even made Goh cry of happiness.
Cyndaquil evolving not being an honorable mention is wild. Pidgeot too. Any evolution that constantly edges you until way later and is finally paid off instantly boosts it.
Top ten best "Team Rocket Blasting off again" Moment 1. Ditto cannonballed pikachu ( Ditto's mysterious mansion) 2. Wheezing blast gas on a ponyta (the flamed pokemonathon) 3. Sucking too much pichu and pikachu juice (the apple corp) 4. Cassidy butch and Jessie James blast of together (A promise is a promise) 5. Vulpix's scorching fire spin (Pokémon fashion flash) 6. Psyducks first confusion (the ninja poke showdown) 7. We'll bounce (the bridge bike gang) 8. Their first blast (pokemon emergency) 9. Bewear sends them off 10. Meowth detonates the celadon gym (pokemon scent-sation
I wish Ash's Oshawott would evolve into a Dewott, then a Samurott. Quilava evolving to a Typlosion, and his Totodile evolving to Croconaw, then to a Feraligatr. Heck, Brock's Marshtomp would've evolved into Swampert.
There was a perfect moment in the Palpitoad episode where Oshawott was about to be sniped by a Hydro Pump and he opens his eyes and he should've evolved there
A lot of these are cool and all, but I wouldn’t count Riolu, Raboot, Farfetch’d’s or Makuhita’s as iconic and maybe some others on this list. IMO some better choices would have been: Ash’s Pidgeotto, Misty’s Poliwag, Brock’s Pineco, Ekans and Koffing, the double evolution of May and Jessie’s Wurmples (or Cascoon and Silcoon), Dawn’s Pilowsine, Clairs Dratini, Koga’s Venonat, or Sabrina’s Abra.
As a Pokemon TCG player, I always think that evolving is just simply putting the card on top of that basic form or 1st stage As a original Pokemon series player we always think that evolving is just farming EXP and endless battles with trainers everywhere and gyms everywhere But the anime remind us evolving is not just an increase of power, but also an evidence or bonds and friendship, without the unbreakable bonds between people and Pokemon itself, no matter how strong your Pokemon is, you cannot be the one to win.
I think Charizard evolution was the most Iconic Evolution in the Pokemon Anime as for a evolution that I wanted to see I hope When ever Ash returns In the anime he reunited with Primeape and it evolved into Anihilape.
Galarian Farfetch'd and Sirfetch'd are pure Fighting types (Kantonian Farfetch'd is Flying/Normal) Greninja's evolution is summed up as: "Now do you understand why everyone is sick of the 'cute unevolved Water starter mascot' tradition?!"
Bittersweet Favorite for me Pidgeotto into Pidgeot during the time when Charizard was still giving Ash a hard time Pidgeotto was one of the his aces and most loyal right with Pikachu his second ever caught Pokemon it was so incredible when it evolved during the battle against Fearow it's one of my all time favorite moments just too bad he let it go but their reunion on Ash's very last episode was so beautiful not gonna lie I cried when he swooped down to save Ash & Pikachu if only Butterfree had returned too but I was happy with what we got.
If we're talking about Pokémon evolving during Gym battles, Abra to Kadabra is way more iconic. Ash, overconfident, calls for Pikachu to attack, only for Abra to evolve into Kadabra and for Pikachu to be promptly defeated. It then takes him another two tries, to "defeat" it, enlisting the help of a Haunter to do so. Pidgeot. Having had Pidgeotto from almost the start, having gone through his Indigo league journey with him, its evolution to save its fellow Pidgey and Pidgeotto by defeating an evolved Spearow who was also from near the beginning of the series was a testament to how much growth Ash and his Pokémon had gone through. Weezing and Arbok. With Jessie and James losing as much as they do, it was great to see something nice happen to them for a change, especially after having shown concern for their Pokémon. As for Pokemon I would've liked to see evolve, Ash's Squirtle to Wartortle then Blastoise, Ash's Bulbasaur to Ivysaur then Venusaur, Misty's Horsea to Seadra then kingdra (would've been perfect for the Johto arc), Brock's Geodude to Graveller then Golem (Since he mentions wanting one [or at least wanting one to hatch from the egg Ash found] in 'Who Gets to keep Togepi')
I know this video is for the cartoon, but my favorite evolution is actually from the "Detective Pikachu" movie when Pikachu throws Magikarp at Charizard. It just flops around at first until it evolves at the last second and uses waterfall to wash everyone away. 😅
A lot of these evolutions were in X&Y, and they all felt like significant evolutions for those pokemon when it happened. If there was ever a perfect time for Ash to win, it would have been there.
Greninja and Incineorar should've been fighting types too. I'm sure they would've been allowed in the P1 Grand Prix back in Kanto, like Brock's Geodude
James Magikarp, Gymleader Barley's Hariyama, Ash's Caterpee, Butterfree, Kingler, Charizard, Sceptile, May's Blaziken, Misty's Togetic, Gliscor, Infernape, Staraptor, Goodra, Noivern, Talonflame, Greninja, Lycanrock Dusk form, incineroar, Sirfech'd, Goh's Cinderace and Lucario, I agree with this list defienitily James Magikarp, Ash's Butterfree, Kingler, Charizard, Blaziken, Sceptile, but Swallow too, Gliscor, Infinerape, Staraptor, but torterra too, Kroocodile, but Livenna and Unfezant too, Goodra, noivern, Talonflame, Greninja, Lycanrock, Incineroar, Cinderace, Sirfech'd and Lucario Ash's strong trainer and in my opinion he's most strongest teams are Indigo league, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Kalos, Alola and Journeys defienitily Indigo League, Kalos, alola and Journeys, but Brock, Dawn, Irish, Cilan, Clemont and Serena have iconic evolution scenes too, but Ash will never be forgotten I really hope to se he and he's friends returns in Pokemon: Gotta catch them all! 😢❤
One really funny one was the Wild Mankey evolving after James kicked it (one would think he learned his lesson) But NOPE another angry Pokémon, Ash caught it though!
What would I have liked to see evolve? Hoooo, boy... Ash's Bulbasaur (even if only as far as Ivysaur) Ash's Totodile Ash's Corphish Ash's Buizel (lot of Ash Water-types on this list) Ash's Gible Ash's Pignite Ash's Oshawott Ash's Palpitoad (poor thing was beyond neglected) Ash's Boldore (legit thought they'd do a trade evolution deal with Trip and his Gurdurr) Ash's Scraggy Ash's Rowlet (if only because the mental image of a freshly evolved Decidueye with one foot in Ash's backpack, hooting in confusion about why it doesn't fit in there anymore just tickles me so much) Misty's Horsea (I really like Seadra) Misty's Psyduck (its schtick was getting a little old after a while- the Whirl Cup in particular really soured me on it. Ash, you absolute idiot, you _know_ what happens whenever that particular Psyduck sustains head trauma!) Brock's Geodude (at least to Graveler if nothing else) Brock's Vulpix Brock's Marshtomp Brock's Croagunk (I like the idea of Toxicroak doing the usual thing, but instead of dragging Brock away it slings him over its shoulder because it'd be big enough to do that now) Tracey's Scyther (into Kleavor, specifically- even if it wouldn't have been until many years after he left the main cast, I just think that'd be a really cool path for the old warrior to take) May's Munchlax (once the Gen 4 preview gimmick had worn off, was there really a reason for it to still be a Munchlax when she returned? Or at the very least it could've evolved during her return...) DAWN'S. PIPLUP. (I will die to death on this hill every day for the rest of my life I hate, hate, _hate_ that they rehashed Pikachu's decision to not evolve complete with giving the damn thing an Everstone, it was already feeling more like Pikachu 2.0 being forced down our throats, and just nope, nope, should have evolved.) Iris's Gible (We never even see it after she catches it, and we only see her catch it in a special episode that never got dubbed for some strange reason) Cilan's Pansage (Simisage is cool!) Serena's Pancham (OK, bear with me on this. If her Eevee became Umbreon, she'd have the Dark-type prerequisite for Pancham to evolve, and then Pangoro would have to get used to its new bulk for performing, and Ash could help Serena with this, drawing on his own experience working with Grotle. At least, until the writers chickened out of Ash having something slow and tanky by making it learn Rock Climb...) Clemont's Chespin (DO IT YOU COWARDLY WRITERS PUT A QUILLADIN ON THE MAIN CAST QUILLADIN IS _PEAK_ MIDDLE EVO!) Snowy (Lillie had the Ice Stone and everything, but Snowy just nopes out of it? She doesn't even have any beef with Alolan Ninetales! This feels super out of nowhere except for the "keeping it small, cute, and marketable" angle) Goh's Grookey (the dude's actively shooting for dex completion and all his other Galar starters fully evolved, what were they _smoking?_) Goh's Stantler (they could've found a way to make it happen for Legends: Arceus marketing, but noooo...) Goh's Magikarp (whether it's the regular one or the giant one, I don't particularly care, just as long as it's one of them) Goh's Pansear (I think Simisear is neat) Goh's Scatterbug (I think it'd have been hilarious if it became Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon, given Goh's whole schtick) Goh's Galarian Corsola James's Cacnea James's Mime Jr. (would've been neat to bring it back in Journeys, have it evolve in Galar to showcase Galarian Mr. Mime, maybe make it a little rival for Mimey, who Ash needed to use more anyway!) James's Inkay (that final evil Malamar episode would've been perfect for this, to really drive home that not all Malamar are built the same) James's Mareanie
If it wasn’t for the fact that it was more of a chase than a battle Charizard would’ve totally reck’t that Aerodactyl Still, great to see Charizard rescue Ash though

Mega garchomp
Golurk

Rest in Peace, Rachel Lillis, Misty's first English voice actress.
died of Breast cancer.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I miss her still
I miss her so much😭😭😭
Pidgeottos evolving to Pidgeot should have been on this list, its iconic as Charizards.
Agreed.
before watching the video I thought Pidgeot's would be #1 and Charizard's #2, or vice versa
Yes Pidgeot should be no 1
100% agreed
We should all thank Team Rocket for most of the evolutions
MORE honorable mentions:
Gigantomax Charizard
Mega Gyarados
Tentacruel
Meowth that's right! 😊
It's true. Battling Team Rocket was a good chunk of Ash's training, wasn't it? Pikachu especially. And that means Ash would not have become the world champion if it weren't for James's Weezing.
Team Rocket sucks and you know it!!
When will that Meowth evolve
Not putting Ekans and Weezing on this list is criminal. The back story was amazing in displaying the bond between them and Jesse and James.
Charizard's evolution will always be number 1 for me.
Noivern's evolution is so epic. His roar to face Zapdos is always memorable
all kalos episodes are epic
6:40 “…every single minute Ash spent training the flying type.”
Galarian Farfetch’d is not a flying type. It’s pure fighting. Same for Sirfetch’d.
I was about to type this! Also they have sandile wrong
FLYING!?!?? I agree it's pure fighting
Farfetched is normal/flying iirc?
@@S1lence_D the original is. The Galarian form isn’t.
Ash didn’t catch Krookadile as a Sandile. He encountered it as a Sandile first, but caught it as a Krokorok
Yes, But Ash helped it as a Sandile. Hence why it kept following him.
I like it how Ash forms a bond with his Pokémon and how their evolution is based on friendship and the need to save him or others.
Poliwag to poliwhirl was pretty darn iconic, becoming Misty's ace for a good portion of the story out of sheer loyalty for her
Butterfree the first bug Pokemon that Misty isn’t afraid of
She was really awful to it when it was a Caterpie when it tried to be friends she screamed at it to go away making it cry I noticed when Butterfree is about to take off Misty goes we'll miss you and Butterfree doesn't acknowledge her comments at all and only focused on Ash rightly so haha.
Misty's bug-phobia is very selective.

Well for your information, I think all of the Pokemon evolution scenes are my absolute favorite Pokemon evolution scenes of all time! Because they are so awe-inspiring, I feel like I want to assemble my very own Pokemon dream team.
18:59 finally what we came for
sabrina's abra to kadabra was also iconic as well as scary
Pokémon evolution looks cool to demostrate their power, except Incineroar who never got a chance to battle after the Alola league.
You gotta admit Incineroar pulling a Whitebeard(in a sense) was kinda cool
Where is Agumon? I think Agumon evolution is super cool 👍
Ash-Greninja was always a form I wish we could use in games
Me too. It would've also been cool to see Ash have Mega Charizard X.
Gen 7 games.
Have u never played the newer games
You can, actually! ...That is, if you have a 3ds with the Pokemon Sun and Moon Demo in it. Only then can you bask under the glory of Ash-Greninja's might.
4Kids really killed it with the evolution scenes. The music, in particular, fit it so well in so many of the scenes such as Pidgeot and Charizard
Wow the way you told story of each Pokemon so brilliant
Honorable Mentions:
Cyndaquil evolved into Quilava
Eevee with the help bond with Serena though she managed to evolve into Sylveon
Brionne evolves into Primarina
Yes Serena's Eevee should be in the list. Cyndaquil evolved very later on the series I think in the Alola arc.
@@jyusatsu nope lol
It evolved in Sinnoh arc! much much earlier
7:34 What the hell is going on with Pikachu's face???
He's doing blackface
He was blinded by Koffing's Sludge earlier in the episode.
11:38 Cinderace flexing muscles 💪
16:00 Incineroar is so muscular. 💪
18:14 Lucario bulking up his muscles 💪
Goh's Pikachu evolving into Raichu was pretty epic too.
For me Butterfree is no 1 on the list. This is so nostalgic that I tear up every time I remember it.
Also - Pidgeotto to Pidgeot should be on the list
One of my favorite evolutions was Paul's Elekid evolving while battling alongside Ash's Chimchar. Even though they were on the same team one last time, it felt like the turning point when the two went from allies to bitter rivals in the Diamond/Pearl series and now Chimchar was playing the catch-up game despite Electabuzz being on his side of the field.
Paras evolves into Parasect deserved a spot in the list :0
Charmeleon evolving to Charizard to fight Aerodactyl is my personal favorite.
Kingler in the anime makes me think it's saying, "Cookie!"
Amazing video watch mojo of Pokémon evolution In the anime,fantastic job.
Charmeleon evolving out of pure spite will forever be my fave
6:20 I was NOT expecting that voice! Gets me every time.
The voice actor is Marc Thompson, who also voiced ash's pignite, krookodile and many more
Cyndaquil evolving not being an honorable mention is wild. Pidgeot too. Any evolution that constantly edges you until way later and is finally paid off instantly boosts it.

The pokemon race when Ponyta evolved into Rapidash
Tbh Noivern and Talonflame's Placement should be way higher on the list
wouldve loved seeing his squirtle and bulbasaur become blastoise and venusaur
Even better, there's an episode where they face a combination of Blastoise and Venusaur
A lot of these evolutions were in X&Y, and they all felt like significant evolutions for those pokemon when it happened. If there was ever a perfect time for Ash to win, it would have been there.
My favorite was Ash’s Fletchinder into Talonflame trying to save Ash from Moltres Flamethrower
I wish Ash's Scraggy would have evolved because Scrafty is my favorite pokemon and it would have been cool seeing him get one
Bro Torracat evolving into Incineroar not being #1 is worthy of not finishing the video.
Greninja and Incineorar should've been fighting types too. I'm sure they would've been allowed in the P1 Grand Prix back in Kanto, like Brock's Geodude
Krockorock evolution was fire

We’re blasting off again wabaaaaaaa
Krabby must have been at a high level when Ash caught it.
My favorite evolutions were Ash's Gliscor, Infernape, and Liko's Sprigatito because of the dire stakes.
Personally,I loved it when Ponyta evolved into Rapidash in the Flame Pokémon-athon.
I find it funny that Magikarp evolved due to a kick and his anger.
I always wondered if meowth would evolve into a talking persian
One really funny one was the Wild Mankey evolving after James kicked it (one would think he learned his lesson) But NOPE another angry Pokémon, Ash caught it though!
My top 10 has to be
1.)Monferno -> Infernape (Ash)
2.)Staravia -> Staraptor (Ash)
3.)Gligar -> Gliscor (Ash)
4.)Golbat -> Crobat (Brock)
5.)Togepi -> Togetic (Misty)
6.)Combusken -> Blaziken (May)
7.)Grovyle -> Sceptile (Ash)
8.)Mudkip -> Marshtomp (Brock)
9.)Krokorok -> Krokodile (Ash)
10.)Frogartier -> Greninja (Ash)
Ash’s Gible should’ve evolved at least once it was kind of a waste that it never did. Even if it just stayed second stage it would’ve been fine.
Even though it wasn't Ash's pokemon, I liked Ponyta evolving into Rapidash.
I always wished that Ash’s Squirtle and Bulbasaur would have evolved in the anime
With the way they described it, I'm shocked Butterfree's evolution wasn't in the top 5 (or even the top 10)
No Ponyta into Rapidash?! Bad list.
Serena's Eevee evolving into Sylveon should have been on there.
What would I have liked to see evolve? Hoooo, boy...
Ash's Bulbasaur (even if only as far as Ivysaur)
Ash's Totodile
Ash's Corphish
Ash's Buizel (lot of Ash Water-types on this list)
Ash's Gible
Ash's Pignite
Ash's Oshawott
Ash's Palpitoad (poor thing was beyond neglected)
Ash's Boldore (legit thought they'd do a trade evolution deal with Trip and his Gurdurr)
Ash's Scraggy
Ash's Rowlet (if only because the mental image of a freshly evolved Decidueye with one foot in Ash's backpack, hooting in confusion about why it doesn't fit in there anymore just tickles me so much)
Misty's Horsea (I really like Seadra)
Misty's Psyduck (its schtick was getting a little old after a while- the Whirl Cup in particular really soured me on it. Ash, you absolute idiot, you _know_ what happens whenever that particular Psyduck sustains head trauma!)
Brock's Geodude (at least to Graveler if nothing else)
Brock's Vulpix
Brock's Marshtomp
Brock's Croagunk (I like the idea of Toxicroak doing the usual thing, but instead of dragging Brock away it slings him over its shoulder because it'd be big enough to do that now)
Tracey's Scyther (into Kleavor, specifically- even if it wouldn't have been until many years after he left the main cast, I just think that'd be a really cool path for the old warrior to take)
May's Munchlax (once the Gen 4 preview gimmick had worn off, was there really a reason for it to still be a Munchlax when she returned? Or at the very least it could've evolved during her return...)
DAWN'S. PIPLUP. (I will die to death on this hill every day for the rest of my life I hate, hate, _hate_ that they rehashed Pikachu's decision to not evolve complete with giving the damn thing an Everstone, it was already feeling more like Pikachu 2.0 being forced down our throats, and just nope, nope, should have evolved.)
Iris's Gible (We never even see it after she catches it, and we only see her catch it in a special episode that never got dubbed for some strange reason)
Cilan's Pansage (Simisage is cool!)
Serena's Pancham (OK, bear with me on this. If her Eevee became Umbreon, she'd have the Dark-type prerequisite for Pancham to evolve, and then Pangoro would have to get used to its new bulk for performing, and Ash could help Serena with this, drawing on his own experience working with Grotle. At least, until the writers chickened out of Ash having something slow and tanky by making it learn Rock Climb...)
Clemont's Chespin (DO IT YOU COWARDLY WRITERS PUT A QUILLADIN ON THE MAIN CAST QUILLADIN IS _PEAK_ MIDDLE EVO!)
Snowy (Lillie had the Ice Stone and everything, but Snowy just nopes out of it? She doesn't even have any beef with Alolan Ninetales! This feels super out of nowhere except for the "keeping it small, cute, and marketable" angle)
Goh's Grookey (the dude's actively shooting for dex completion and all his other Galar starters fully evolved, what were they _smoking?_)
Goh's Stantler (they could've found a way to make it happen for Legends: Arceus marketing, but noooo...)
Goh's Magikarp (whether it's the regular one or the giant one, I don't particularly care, just as long as it's one of them)
Goh's Pansear (I think Simisear is neat)
Goh's Scatterbug (I think it'd have been hilarious if it became Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon, given Goh's whole schtick)
Goh's Galarian Corsola
James's Cacnea
James's Mime Jr. (would've been neat to bring it back in Journeys, have it evolve in Galar to showcase Galarian Mr. Mime, maybe make it a little rival for Mimey, who Ash needed to use more anyway!)
James's Inkay (that final evil Malamar episode would've been perfect for this, to really drive home that not all Malamar are built the same)
James's Mareanie
I can definitely see:
Ash: Meganium, Feraligatr, Typhlosion, Crawdaunt, Floatzel, Garchomp, Samurott, Emboar, Serperior, Scrafty, Gigalith, Seismitoad and Annihilape.
Misty: Kingdra, Azumarill and Seaking
Brock: Golem, Toxicroak, Swampert
Tracey: Kleavor
May: Delcatty
Dawn: Empoleon, Lopunny
Cilain: Simisage
Clemont: Chesnaught
Jessie's Arbok, and koffing's James should be on this list.
If it wasn’t for the fact that it was more of a chase than a battle
Charizard would’ve totally reck’t that Aerodactyl
Still, great to see Charizard rescue Ash though
Infernape was always my favorite fire type
Ponyta evolved to rapid ash with ash should be honorable mention
