It’s easy to figure out. Just slow down the clip on UA-cam.

Thank you. You are totally on it. I am a guitar teacher also, fluent in tab and notes, and post daily encouragement. It is all about getting the People playing.

You are by far my fav go-to guy for figuring songs out. You play with soul and show more details than others.. Nice work!

Was wondering if the tuning is different in the recording. Could it be pitched up a bit higher?

Brilliant, Jon. Such a great tune.
I believe the great Louis Johnson played that Bassline which is trickier than you think to play.

It was. About 15 years ago I used to play on a gig every week with Louis here in Hollywood. I also worked with his daughter Keiko. I played on her debut album. She was doing her own music at that time and has an incredible voice. Louis was one of the best bassist I ever heard. It was sad a few years back when he passed. He was something else. He used to tell me stories of working with Santana and Quincy and a lot of legendary artists. His was the nicest guy a real gem of the music business.

@@jonmaclennan Incredible story mate - he was truly one of a kind. He brought so much to the bass world. Considering his reputation for slap and pop, Billie Jean is generally considered the essence of simplicity in basslines (but for some nuances of course). Just shows his genius eh? Keep up the brilliant work, Jon 🎸🎸🎸

This is giving me serious Bully nostalgia vibes. One of the fight themes there was Billie Jean inspired synth track with guitar riffs backing it.
You brought back my tow major aspects of my childhood in one video
