What was your favorite toy as a kid!? 😃
I had a stuffed dog with a blanket in its paw (hand?) And I took that thing everywhere. My parents have it in a memory box now but that thing went through some stuff.
@Dhiya Sundar Moon’s had a singing giraffe also, but he had to go to the animal sanctuary unfortunately 🙏
My doll named Suzy. :)
Lightbrite! & Spirograph!!
Mine was probably a rabbit that sings and moves it’s arms
I love how consciously you think about your child's development. Moon seems like a very happy fulfilled young one.
Yeah! They are AWESOME parents!! ❤️❤️
Moon really is one of the luckiest children to have parents that go so out of their way to give their child the most creative but safe upbringing. I can only imagine him 15 years from now getting to go back and watch how much his parents love him. Good on you guys!
Surely not, he’s going to have so many issues when he’s older as he has no freedom now, can’t even sleep in his own room. I like their videos but parenting Style is completely wrong
@@chelseaosman5472 Many people sleep with their parents,I still do and I am 15.
@@gayathrivp2685 that’s not normal, way too old to sleep with parents
@@chelseaosman5472 wayy too old? Yeah no he’s literally a baby, he doesn’t need his own room until maybe 6-8. They probably worry about him and have to watch him.
@@kaythlin1006 god no, when they start sleeping through the night they should go in their own room
I love how “loose” and accepting of behaviour you are with Moon. Instead of shutting him down when he wants to grab the camera or touch something or help you. I love that. And I love the artistic and creative environment you guys create everywhere. Moon is so so smart! And he’s absolutely freaking adorable. I feel like he was just born yesterday!
when he copied Joey's noise/movement that he made sitting down I melted Moon is so fricking cute
I left for two minutes, I come back and Moon is off to College
Omggg literally😂😭
dude i saw the thumbnail and my jaw dropped
hahaha
😆
I know, right??? Wasn't he just chilling on a boppy doing tummy time??? Lol
I feel like Moon is gonna be 6 years old and building a whole bedroom by himself 😂
😭😭
Ikr!!😂😂😂🤣🤣😭😭
Ikr
If he does I’m helping
@@isabellamari8332 Awww!!!
I feel like all of the viewers feel like aunts and uncles and cousins and such of moon 😂 like I can’t wait to see moons personality come out, like if he’ll be sportyyy or introverted, maybe really into books, like his interests, plus he’s adorable
Awe yeah one big internet family! 🤗
I was just thinking the same :)
Yup he's the cutest child on the internet😊🤫
@@sophies8573 him and Flynn Ballinger!
OMG yesss!! I feel like an oldie every time I see moon and feel like going OMG how much he’s grown!! And I feel so protective of him!😅
Honestly inspired by all the eco-friendly toys. There are so many plastic children’s toys and this is such a good inspiration on how to give your children toys in a sustainable way. Great job with the playroom! Everything you touch is gold!
We’re trying!
I went all wood! I’m done with plastic toys! Terrible! Wood is more quality and just better over all!!! Agree.
And you can even use recyclable materials to make your own toys at home too! I’m a home visitor and our program did a event for kiddos using recyclable materials found in our homes. One of the visitors created a kitchen set with cardboard boxes and the kiddos had a blast!
They are from a company from a small village in Catalonia called GRAPAT if anyone is interested ☺️
No one cares
As a Montessori mama I deeply love this room. My only gentle suggestion would be to consider making his clothes and grooming supplies at his level. I promise it will make your lives so much easier. He will learn how to dress himself, make his own choices, and put his own clothes away. Beautiful job as always.
Aw that's a very kind way to give feedback I like that :)
Oh that’s actually really smart!
Yes, I had similar thoughts about a year ago when they did the tactile mural so high up on the wall. :( Even though aesthetically it makes sense, I wish they would have had it at toddler eye level.
Maybe he can climb the triangle up to them! 😁
@@katcrafty I wonder if the tactile wall up high was because they wanted to keep Moon from pulling the tactile pieces off the wall and putting them in his mouth?
I love that Kate is so into Pedagogy and education. Moon's teachers are gonna LOVE YOU
You are such a loving family, that it almost makes me cry (happy tears). There are so many children that don't feel included, so could you do a project in a foster home? I love you, Mr. Kate and MOON! 🥰 🥰
Ahhhh I would LOVE to see that =)
i feel so calm when i watch them as a family just being happy.
It's so beautiful to see parents who genuinely enjoy their child in the way Kate and Joey do. It's like they all play together rather than the parents playing with the child for the child's sake.
Yeah, it's sadly rare for me to see parents who not only love their kids but genuinely want to spend time with them and teach them things not only because they have to you know? They seem excited themselves. It's so wholesome.
I wish I was more like this ::
Agree, you can see how much they truly love and care for their child, it’s amazing to watch :’)
Mr kate was my very first inspiration for creativity, interior decor and everything. I just wanna say I'm very grateful that I found this creativity in me because of you.
So glad you got inspired!
@@MrKate thank you for replying❤❤❤ this means a lot
Omg when moon mimicked joey’s grunt when he sat down 🥺🥺🥺 that was so cute im dying
As a Montessori teacher it makes me so happy to see this style of parenting becoming more mainstream! This room is absolutely gorgeous!
It feels like you guys just announced his gender yesterday
I feel it in my bones a new gender reveal is coming lol

right?! that was the sweetest most wholesome thing I've seen on UA-cam 😂
Omg, Kate, I literally almost lost my shit cuz I thought you were gonna repaint the whole mural haha. I'm so glad you kept it and just added more stuff to it. It's such a masterpiece.
“The Myth, The Man, The Legend... The MOON” ❤️
me, a childless single woman watching this: I want Waldorf toys
...i want joey’s power tools!
@@joycedavis9996 me tooooo🤗
As a Waldorf school graduate, I really hope moon gets to go to a Waldorf school. It teaches you to admire life through such a different approach and helped developed my artistic skills (which of course moon has).
Moons reaction 😍🥰 he so happy and impressed! His little dancing at the end 😂
Have you had that baby yet??
I didn’t even finish watching but I know his reaction will be amazing
I was a Waldorf child since day one, and I have to say this room is an absolute dream with so many beautiful waldorfian touches throughout. I love watching your videos and gaining so much inspiration. It’s also so inspiring to see someone come from a Waldorf background and manifest their creativity into such a beautiful UA-cam channel, you guys rock!
I am a homeschool child it’s great
Love!! It turned out so amazing! You guys are such a sweet & fun family 💛
Moon's face is almost perfect as if he's already grown, perfect features he got from momma and daddy
He looks like a typical white kid
This kid is going to be the whole package, smart, creative, talented and he’s already adorable 🥺
I don't know if I'm more excited about the furniture coming out, or Moon's reaction.
😍
I love how he keeps trying to imitate Joey! He is such a mini Joey!
That bear and racoon was magical! Wish I could have those in my future babys room! You guys should make wallpapers with that!
Imagine growing up with parents who not only has the funds to make these kinds of things but also the CARE and ATTENTION to try to always do the right thing for you to have the best possible childhood. I'm gonna cry!
I grew up as a ¨Waldorfian" and seeing the block crayons, and wooden figurines, and interactive art made me emotional. I´m in public high school now and I had ALMOST forgotten all that Waldorf has given to me! :)
That's cute :)
I feel like Joey is just like “whatever you want to do, Kate” Not as a bad thing! I just think it’s funny x)
I so agree lol it’s like he knows she’s got something creative and cool working in that mind of hers, and he’s like “alright yeah whatever you want we’ll do.”
In the early videos you can see him challenging her. But I guess every relationship has to have that. Just as Kate doesn't challenge him on rug cuddles anymore.
Also! Thank you for being so open about how you're raising Moon. My hubs and I are planning on having a kiddo soon and you guys are opening my eyes to amazing non-conventional ways of raising a child. Like, I'm already searching for Waldorf schools near me!
I can't wait to see his first shopping spree for clothes and furniture when he's older. Idk why. I just can't wait to see what he picks out for himself when his style develops.
Moons face when he saw the playroom is just so adorable. He’s so excited to play and learn. Such a smart baby.
Imagine meeting moon in school and going to his house for a play day
I wanna become a kid again and travel halfway across the world so that I can be that play date of his 😆
He is so big I’ve watched you guys since before you were pregnant
I know! I couldn't believe how big he's gotten!
My reaction was the same seeing the cutie boy! Time is flying :)
Moon's reaction = Best ever
👏👏👏
@@MrKate 😲You replied OMG OMG 🥺
“Who’s SHAY?” LOL 😂
Joey: announces his plans to use his router tool in a seemingly begrudging tone.
Kate: oh your new router? That you love? 😂
I love these two 💙
I love the fact that Joey works with all the big power tools but he can’t handle a glue gun hahaha
Kate and Joey the type of parents 99%of people wish they had 🙇🏻♀️
Wauw mr Kate it’s so cool to see how you add some “Waldorf” things. In Europe (the Netherlands) we call it “Steiner”. I remember the beeswax crayons, the wooden toys and the fairy’s, a lot of nostalgia for me 🌈
In german (I am from Austria) we call it Waldorf but I didn't understand the word until she explained it and then I knew that she was trying to say Waldorf 😂 it's interesting that it is getting more attention nowadays 🤔
Maybe I’m wrong and Waldorf and Rudolf Steiner schools are differed.... but the philosophy seems the same.. 🤔
Thank you for explaining Crystal :)
moon looks and acts like joey but has a kate flare in him he's soooo cute
Kate's sweet voice after "smell" they're both like you have to smell lol ♥️
I love how the room turned out and Moons reaction is the cutest thing i've seen in a long time ❤
But what i'm most in awe at is how you two are rising Moon. I used to say i liked the "hippie" approach to parenting, but after this last years and the distorsion of the term i wasn't so sure anymore.
After watching how you're rising Moon i believe it's possible to have a well educated, happy baby who knows and respects both human values and Mother Earth.
Thank you so much for showing your parenting life and being so real. The world needs more adults like you and more kids like Moon ❤❤
I seriously, seriously want them to redo my whole house :)
Sameee
Me too
right!!
MHM
Me to!
I've loved this makeover... one suggestion... why don't you think about selling wallpaper or printables with different themes intended for nurseries and playrooms? My daughter's bedroom is also inspired in animals and the forest...by the way, a hedgehog (and maybe also an owl) is missing in that lovely background. And Moon's face in the reveal is priceless.. you should feel so proud of yourselves and your family. Kisses from Spain
Aww Moon is literally the cutest ever , I can’t wait to see his little reaction. 😭❤️
moon saying “dada” and then making him smell the flower at 15:21 😭💖
also 26:36 is such an adorable family moment 🥺🥺🥺💕
I LOVE how you guys used a montessori reference in the playroom!
Your content is really transforming in a great way. I’m so happy and admire how you guys have been able to adapt to the circumstances and even developing what you’re doing in the process. Amazing 🤩❤️
Thanks Cass! It’s been a challenging year for everyone. I’m sure ours was easier than most but still it’s forced us all to go inwards and find what’s important and double down on that!
@@MrKate Yes that’s wonderful (: It really shows and I’m inspired. Wish you guys the best, keep at it!
The little sound Moon makes when he's drilling 🥺
And of course, Moon is gonna be drilling and hammering stuff on walls. this is so adorable! 🥰
Wow I’m so late. I didn’t know about winston’s passing. I’m so sorry. He was such a wonderful cat. And so vocal. He’s definitely in kitty heaven. RIP Winston.
Watching Joey and moon work together melts my heart. My son and his daddy did and still do those kind of projects together...it’s so important to teach kids how to be around tools safely instead of just telling them no.
Moons farm outfit 😍😍
Hey Mr. Kate! I’m a psychology major rn in college and I have a question about your co-sleeping experience. In my classes, co-sleeping was discussed and how it can positively/negatively affect Moon’s attachment and development, and the possible dangers that come with co-sleeping. I’m truly just curious how your experience was with it! No judgement (cause I know there can be a lot surrounding this subject) and sending all my love to you guys ❤️
My kids and grandkids all practiced co-sleeping and everyone is fine. Look beyond the US for historical data. Sleeping in cribs and in rooms away from parents is a modern aberration.
I'm curious too - how can cosleeping in any way be negative? We were born to sleep together 😍
@@siffmariesahlholdt2082 it can be negative because there have been situations where the child suffocated in between the parents, got tangled up in sheets, etc. It’s very sad when that happens. The best practices for safe sleep are Alone, Back, Crib (ABC) basically it says that the child should be alone in their crib or another safe place, sleeping on his or her back. I think it’s especially important for infants because they don’t have the ability to move themselves if they get caught up in sheets or such, whereas a toddler could probably move themselves if they were in a bad sleeping position. I hope this helps! No judgement, this is coming from a place of care, I just want all babies and parents to be safe! 💕
@@olgachernovskiy5155 hmm... I must have read som some different research than you. Safe cosleeping with the right precautions taken have shown to be just as safe as non-cosleeping. It also improves breastfeeding.
@@siffmariesahlholdt2082 oh I’m sure there are proper ways to do it! I’m just saying what is considered best practice here (in the US) 😊
Aww your little family jam sesh at the end was EVERYTHING!!! 🥰 I feel so inspired to re-do my little ones room now ☺️
Loved how Moon responded when you said trees😊 I grew up in the boonies with a beach as my front yard and forest as my back yard. My friends and I played imagination games for hours. Maybe it's because of that I grew up to be a writer?
Wait what their kid was just born... where did the time go 😂
Did I time travel?! How big he is... I am speechless
How does Kate’s brain work like this??? Like how does she even think of or know how to diy everything?? Such an inspiration ❤️
Joey went to a school that was about getting good grades - correction: Joey went to a school that taught achievement is important. Couple this video with the relationship past video (both of which I LOVED) and you'll see that a balance of the two is pretty essential. Don't knock traditional education too much! There are pluses and minuses... Also important to note: Moon is an incredibly sweet and adorable child!
This is what I was thinking too! It’s great the they’re raising him this way, but it’s also great that other parents raise their children in a more traditional way. Lots of people can’t afford to send their child to Waldorf school or take off so much time when their children are little. Having a happy child and happy parents is way more important than how they play or create.
Creativity matched with focus and dedication is a good combo. Joey was a serious musician who went to Berklee in Boston. He was probably a good student but also had to learn the discipline of practice.
I went to Montessori school Grade 3-6 which teaches you how to problem solve and work at your own pace. We had a lot of tactile things (e.g. strands of beads for learning multiplication tables, sugar cubes for making a castle, cloth flags for Japanese children's day) and only sat in desks about half the day.
I was thinking about how the blend of Joey (very strong but tempered masculine traits matches up so well with Kayte's very feminine creative unstructured way is very key to why they can productively accomplish so much as a team. That balance is so important whether by matching a man and woman together or by being very balanced with both sets of traits within yourself. Men generally NEED to learn from consequences/discipline and Joey would know how to raise a son to have his traits so I hope Kayte lets Joey's influence be really strong for Moon too. I used to hang out with a lot of 'gender neutral' guy hippie friends who couldn't DO anything. It was like their whole masculine drive had been neutralized/washed away and it's not like it was replaced by creativity. A man without their drive is like a dead man walking. Joey and Kayte are both such great people that I imagine they can't go too far wrong. They both bring such good examples for Moon to learn from.
@@christianone6611 honestly I obvs hope he doesn’t but I feel like moon will grow up to be a spoilt needy kid especially with the stuff like he doesn’t sleep alone, constantly supervised even when playing, etc
I hate to say that, but it’s what I think or at least get from this, but by all means I hope I’m proved wrong
I was like " wow joey can really keep a tune on those toy instruments " Then remembered he was in a whole band lol
Growing up I went to a Waldorfschool in Germany and it’s so amazing to see how someone is modernizing all the Waldorf element and philosophy. I’d love to see more Waldorf content.
I’m 17 and I’m so jealous of Moon’s new play room. I wish I had such an amazing space to play when I was that little🥺 also you guys are AMAZING parents!
Kate's hair is ON FLEEEEKK. LOVE IT😍❤️👍👌
I really want to share this with you. my interest in interior design and decor started with your WACO series. that is when I first discovered you and absolutely fell in love with your personalities and everything you do (including how you raise Moon). It was only after watching you that I developed an unimaginable love and enthusiasm for interior design. I spent 5 hours daily on youtube watching real estate and interviews with world-renowned designers and smaller business people who redo spaces as you do. but you have always stood out because of the fact that you are able to curate to any and every aesthetic from minimal to midcentury and I think that's an unmatched skill. I'm 19 and already have ideas for my dream home. One of them is having the privilege of it being designed by Mr Kate and her team.
seeing how lucky Moon is for having parents like you guys just made me ugly cry , i’ve been watching you guys for a long time and i can’t believe how big Moon is now, love you guys stay safe ❤️
omg i can’t get over how big moon is now! he’s adorable, so lucky to get all the mr kate design 😆
The funny thing is that they can’t ask Moon, “oh baby moon! What is your aesthetic?” Moon: “Milk”
Moon is an expert in drilling just like daddy.
Lol yes.
Moon is really smart. Expression of two year old awesome. Love u guys.
I still can't get over your beautifully painted wall of animals and trees, I wish you sold it like wallpaper =) And so in love with his Waldorf toys and play items, always loved the silks so much, yay Moon must love it so so much. I went to a Montessori school myself and I have SO many fond memories from there with the creativity and independence they encouraged.
What a lovingly curated "just enough" play room! Everything about it is my style down to the Zara moon sweatshirt (which i also bought for my little girl). A childhood full of curiosity, fun and love for sure!!💗

Certainly good to have other design options! We used my daughter’s crib from week 1 so I’m glad we had it but we also had a play area in there as well.
I think it depends! I co slept for 6 months then transitioned to the crib. Maybe some
Kind of transitional design
