Love this video Scott, Metamora looks a pretty place. I love flea markets too, get all kinds fool stuff for a bargain price. You have everything here to have a great day out. Fab way to travel to the market on that train with awesome loco, still going strong. The demonstrations were interesting too. We have lots of old water wheels still working & doing their job in the UK, powering flour mills & the odd cotton mill. I would love to have a ride on the train to Connersville & back. Fab video Scott! ❤😊👍
Yes, Metamora is a cool little town. Lots of antique shops and whatnot. They have this festival in October every year and the railroad runs people down from Connersville and back. The Whitewater Valley Railroad has a lot of cool old railroad equipment they have restored and run on a regular basis.
Thanks, Scott for some Train history and flour and grain Mill History. Love these kinds of things. My Dad was a Teacher, Coach and a History Buff. He majored in college in history and passed down to all the Family his knowledge of History. Personally, I love Transportation History and military History of Civil War and World War 1 & 2. So thank you for taking time out to dig into History, Be blessed, My Friend and have a Great Monday and stay warm. Temps for Central North Carolina dropped Saturday night and Sunday night into 40 degree which is very cold for us this time of year. Generally we are in the night temps upper 50's to low 60' with day temps in 70's to low 80's. But Sunday day temp was only in mid 60's. I suppose Ya'll sent some the the northern cold to us, LOL. Later my friend.
This is a great catch , I have never seen a 44 tonner ever except in model form . This is a really nice step into yesteryear , bravo !! Nice trip to the past when life made sense.
Oh. My. GOSH! This is so incredibly COOL! Thanks so much for this video and for the very interesting info. Now we (my railroad and train-loving brothers and I and our families) have GOT to make this a vacation destination. Thanks again so much!
It`s a neat little town. They have lots of antique and craft type shops. The Canal Days festival is a once a year thing but they do other stuff throughout the year too. You can get more info on what they got going on by clicking here facebook.com/metamoracanaltown
I've been in a working grist mill in Pickwick Mn. The whole buiding shakes when it's running. Note the star caps on the side of the mill building, they are connected to large iron rods to help hold the walls together. Love to see the old Baldwin doing her thing. Liked this one much, thanks Scott!
Actually Lima-Hamiltons. 25 is ex Cincinnati Union Terminal soon to be joined in regular service by ex Armco 709. Whitewater has 3 of 4 surviving Lima-Hamiltons and the only 2 operating! Noteworthy is Whitewater one of few remaining tourist railroads to run their Christmas trains with actual steam heat!
@poowg2657 You do indeed at IRM have the fourth survivor. Whitewater tried to get Nick Kallas to give it up so we have a monopoly but he wants the 3 WV L-Hs! Will see Nick in Jan. at RPCA convention-say HI for us.
@@kennethhanks6712 Nick was the best man at my wedding in '82 at IRM. He can be a tough negotiator.... We have an old saying at IRM: "Don't get Nicked!".
Great video Scott! Glad you got to make it out that way, I really want to go find the Lima's and the other equipment they have out towards Connersville.
Yes, there are TWO! We have brought Armco 709 back to life this year! So we have the only two operating Lima switchers in the country!
Very cool! I`m glad I got to see it running!

Nice to see some heritage and culture preserved.
It has been a few years since I have been there. Lots of memories from when our daughter was a kid. Thank you for sharing this, Scott.
Glad you liked It! 😁
I have never been there so thank you for some GOOD filming Scott.
You're welcome David! I'm glad you liked it!

Thanks, and I agree with you 100%. The world is nuts now.
Very similar in look, however USN1 is a 65ton center cab!
I have not been to Metamora since I was little. And I even rode on the train from Connersville to Metamora and back. Love to do that again soon.
I haven't ridden the train. It's on my list!
What a fun day!
Yes it was. I really like going out there. It`s about 75 miles from home, but worth the drive!

Thanks P. Yes. I knew those stars were for building support. I see them on lots of old buildings around here.

Good work ...great video 🙂👍

Metamora is such a cool place. They had the mill closed due to some construction.
I wish they would have had the grist mill operating. They did the last time I was there 2 years ago.
@@1960gambit the water wheel was even taped off and had the water diverted around it back in June.
Great Video Scott
Thanks Hunter!
Great video
Thanks Matthew! 😁
Don't know why but your audio sounds so much better than JT's even when you're both at the same locations
Beats me, we use the same model camera.
