I heard a theory that Magica was involved with the disappearance of the triplets Mom Della and the whole Spear of Selene thing. Especially because her niece in this version is named Lena, which could be short for Selena or Selene.
This could've made Magica such a big villain, but now that I've seen how it ended, I think that it would've made no sense because Magica was trapped before Della got stranded on the moon and she would've been such a big part in the show. There would be nowhere for more lure. Like, it would've made Bradford less of a cool villain that he is. And it'd feel like they didn't come up with anything new.

Well I for one knew Lena was up to no good from the moment I saw her (even suspected her to BE Magica when she showed Webby the amulet), and was waiting for her to prove me right - I wasn't disappointed. However, the discovery that Lena actually wasn't just a slave to Magica's influence and wants to keep her friendship with Webby (enough to help Mrs. Beakley against her aunt's wishes) was a lot more surprising. If the actual Magica De Spell is trapped inside the amulet, and not just the Shadow, then the magic that Lena exhibited is easily explained as Lena tapping into her aunt's magical powers - in the original DuckTales cartoon show, Magica's primary conduit for her powers was an amulet - quite likely the exact same one Lena has - which could also grant her the power of polymorphism, the power to transform oneself into other creatures. She used that power constantly in the cartoon and would return to her true form should the amulet leave her person - I'm quite certain we'll be seeing this power from Lena before long, if we aren't ALREADY seeing it in use...
Great video, Dude. I love how you explained the history of Magica in this video. However, I don't think Magica is after Scoorge's dime this time around. Let's face it-- while having a villain's end goal be just to get a lucky dime may've worked back in the day, that's a pretty lame and non threatening end goal for a main villain in a modern cartoon. Instead, my theory is that she's a powerful witch, who created an amulet in order to open a portal on the moon to let in a great evil in, but was foiled by the triplet's mother, who trapped Magica in the amulet, but at the expense of their mom dying in the process. A lot of modern cartoons are bringing in the idea of the universe or world ending as the climax of the series and I think Ducktales will be no different. A lot of the showrunners and show staff working on Ducktales also worked on Gravity Falls, where Bill Cipher merging the dimensions was the climax of the series. Since a lot of times showrunners bring in ideas from their previous works, it could be possible for that idea to come back in Ducktales. Not only that, with them name dropping other cities from Disney Afternoon shows, including Saint Canard; the show hinting at Miss Beakly being a former employee of Shush from that series and already confirming that Darkwing will have a fairly major role in Ducktales reboot along some with some other characters from that show, it's pretty much confirmed that the Darkwing Duck and Ducktales share the same mythos. In that series there was an episode where Darkwing goes reality hopping Rick and Morty style and there's quite literally a character who's evil Darkwing from another dimension. It's not that far of a stretch for them to tie in that aspect from the sister show into this one. Also, if VLD, another reboot of an 80s cartoon, changed things up a lot and brought in the idea of alternate dimensions, why not Ducktales? So I can see Magica being like Gideon in Gravity Falls and letting in a much more powerful entity loose upon the world like say...the Phantom Blot. It would also explain Donald and Scoorge's animosity towards each other at the start, since Donald believes Scoorge is responsible for her death.
When Webby first meets Lena, doesn't she ask Lena if the amulet is ancient Sumerian? And then Lena tells her that she got it at a thrift store, which is probably a lie. So is the amulet really from ancient Sumeria?

My current working theory is that Lena is Poe's daughter, and has agreed to help Magica get Scrooge's dime in exchange for turning her father back into a sapient duck.
There was also the comic the last adventure where magica, the beagle boys, rockerduck, and glomgold team up and the witchcounsel says magica failed, but scrooge defends her saying she didnt and at the end glomgold and rockerduck go to prison while everyone else has a picknik on scrooges hill
I like seeing that the franchise I grew up not only got rebooted, and enjoyed by a new generation, it has both paid homage to the comics and 90s cartoon, but has modernized and become something just as special. Also you guys should play the Ducktales NES remake on Steam. Magika is actually one of the boss fights in that game.
I dont know her role but i do have an idea on how she will be defeated Her niece after becoming friends with webii and getting to know the gang she stands up to her ant who has been turned to fleash by her and turn her back into shadow and lock her back into the amulet which she then gives to scrooge who takes it to his vault. I believe an episode could come up where Magica takes on Full Anthropomorphic Duck Form to invade McDuck Manor, but could she gain that Romanian Accent? Thank Goodness Scrooge’s Number One Dime is safely secured around his neck at all times away from his enemies.
Personally, I can’t wait to see what will happen next with Scar in the Lion Guard. You know, assembling the Outlander Army( which I hope includes Zira and The Outsiders), The Lion Guard finding out that Scar is alive, Scar’s first encounter with the Lion Guard and confrontation against Simba again, and how Scar will be defeated PERMANENTLY.
You know, the head writer of Avatar: the Last Airbender said this little nugget of wisdom: "Don't focus on making characters likable, focus on making them complex" And after the recent Leena episode, I can definitely say that she is a complex character. She may be working for the villainous Magica de Spell, but she also does feel some level of remorse for getting involved in magic. She also has, despite her attempts to tell her aunt otherwise, a genuine fondness for her new friends and is actually scared of losing them once they realize who and what she is.
That amulet is Magic has a staff if you watch the season finale you can finally see how Lena got the amulet and also you also get to see that Lena was Magicka the spell shadow

I read somewhere on TV tropes that Magica may be responsible for the Spear of Selene and the disappearance of the boys' mother Della, but that's just their their theory (it's under WMG, I believe); I don't think it's confirmed yet. It sounds like it would be a really good episode plot though.
So, if Scrroge loses his wealth, the dime Magica is after will be denatured... Sounds like a certain witch needs to off the Beagle Boys before they screw up her plans.

A recent episode called Jaw$ reveals that Magica de Spell is actually trapped as Lena's shadow. And will grant Lena her heart's darkest desire. Her freedom from Magica de Spell. But that will only happen if Lena steals Scrouge's #1 dime.
In the end, Lena shall defect from her aunt Magica, one way or another, and the McDuck family shall gain a new member of the household, or Lena shall go off on her own to who knows where searching for herself/her truth to who she really is. And she’ll likely return for future episodes afterwards, after the big showdown possible season finale of her and her aunt Magica’s plans that are probably for world domination because aunt Magica is an evil spirit and evil spirits are often about world domination or some mystical whatever, and aunt Magica needs a way into McDuck manor to get the whatever it is to come into their plane of existence as a solid being to enact world domination. I say, Webby will be the one to really push Lena into changing sides, helping Lena in being confident in wanting to be good and defect against Magica. Scrooge’s first ever coin he ever got makes me believe Magica is after its gained spiritual value - the energy of a person being transferred into a favorite object of theirs as a residual sort of thing, and we all know Scrooge wears his first dime around his neck, so why wouldn’t it have accumulated some sort of magical essence from all his adventures? Well, it could also be that Magica’s after something else, but sticking with the dime, she might be looking to again turn it into an amulet but not to turn things to gold here in the reboot. Like I said, I believe she’s trapped, a shadow being forced to wander, and that the amulet Lena has is either something she was given, or she found, and I believe that the amulet Lena has might be an experiment of Magica’s, because Magica seems, in my opinion, connected heavily with that amulet. In the comment above I made, that’s what I believe with the plot looking towards. World domination might still be a thing, maybe? Like I said, evil searches for world domination, though before it was evil spirits I said, but meh, same thing really. Magica will be released from her shadow state, Lena will defect from her aunt’s side with her confidence in being good from the help of Webby, and Lena will most likely go on to leave McDuck manor in search for herself, the truth of her family, or for just finding more about herself because she had always followed her aunt Magica’s lead, returning for some episodes, after what’s likely a season finale of Magica vs McDuck and his family, including Lena. I also believe Magica won’t be put down permanently in that possible season finale and might become a returning villain, but who knows, really?

Lena is Magica de Spell’s shadow. Before Magica was sealed away completely in Scrooge McDuck’s dime, she enchanted her shadow, the shadow became a corporeal entity that created it’s own form and identity: which is Lena. P.S. It is pronounced “Lena” not “Lina”
Magica does not have anything to do with Della Duck’s disappearance. Della crash landed on the moon in her rocket ship and the rocket ship was totally destroyed. Lucky she survived on the moon for 10 years, thanks to Gyro’s “Oxy-chew” it’s gum that provides a source of food and water, and oxygen to breathe.
I personally think she'll be a lot like bill from gravity falls and i also don't think at the beginning that Lena knew who Webby was that's just what i think ;)
If Magica succeed and made all the gold she wants (assuming the price of gold don't go down), won't she become the richest on Earth and cause the charm to be useless unless she made another one with her own first dime?
I need to watch this series. So mad the changes to our cable took Disney XD months ago. I might be able to afford the plan to add it back next month. Might. Anyway, cool theory and I loved seeing Lena perform magic. Need to watch this series. I loved the original DuckTales so much and have heard great things about this reboot.

So yes, Lena, I still believe she’ll defect from her aunt Magica, and that they’re planning to enter McDuck manor but now the artifact I believe Magica is after is the coin because she’s just a shadow, trapped in the plane of shadows, as the first wording of Lena in which Magica appeared made me think a trapped evil spirit. Scrooge’s first ever coin he ever got makes me believe Magica is after its gained spiritual value - the energy of a person being transferred into a favorite object of theirs as a residual sort of thing, and we all know Scrooge wears his first dime around his neck, so why wouldn’t it have accumulated some sort of magical essence from all his adventures? Well, it could also be that Magica’s after something else, but sticking with the dime, she might be looking to again turn it into an amulet but not to turn things to gold here in the reboot. Like I said, I believe she’s trapped, a shadow being forced to wander, and that the amulet Lena has is either something she was given, or she found, and I believe that the amulet Lena has might be an experiment of Magica’s, because Magica seems, in my opinion, connected heavily with that amulet. In the comment above I made, that’s what I believe with the plot looking towards. World domination might still be a thing, maybe? Like I said, evil searches for world domination, though before it was evil spirits I said, but meh, same thing really. Magica will be released from her shadow state, Lena will defect from her aunt’s side with her confidence in being good from the help of Webby, and Lena will most likely go on to leave McDuck manor in search for herself, the truth of her family, or for just finding more about herself because she had always followed her aunt Magica’s lead, returning for some episodes, after what’s likely a season finale of Magica vs McDuck and his family, including Lena. I also believe Magica won’t be put down permanently in that possible season finale and might become a returning villain, but who knows, really?

Lena is Magica de Spell’s shadow. Before Magica was sealed away completely in Scrooge McDuck’s dime, she enchanted her shadow, the shadow became a corporeal entity that created it’s own form and identity: which is Lena. P.S. It is pronounced “Lena” not “Lina”
Magica is Lena’s aunt/mother (creator).
Magica does not have anything to do with Della Duck’s disappearance. Della crash landed on the moon in her rocket ship and the rocket ship was totally destroyed. Lucky she survived on the moon for 10 years, thanks to Gyro’s “Oxy-chew” it’s gum that provides a source of food and water, and oxygen to breathe.
Magica did not find Lena, she created Lena.

I need to watch this series. So mad the changes to our cable took Disney XD months ago. I might be able to afford the plan to add it back next month. Might. Anyway, cool theory and I loved seeing Lena perform magic. Need to watch this series. I loved the original DuckTales so much and have heard great things about this reboot.
