Pat Phoenix, Jean Alexander and the rest of them - including the writers - would be horrified if they saw the mess Coronation Street is now.
Well Said.
Aye it's crap no comedy anymore, It's all violence rape and murder, I miss the Duckworth's
@@emperorpalpatine783 Looking forward to it!
The toung is in a different cheek to what it used to be.
It will never be the same as it was.
Never been much into soaps. Eastenders is just plain depressing and unreal. However Coronation Street, in the past, was an exception. Watched it regularly in the days of Elsie. It had a magic then, which has long gone.
She died 17/9/86 aged 62. She was a pioneering icon of British television. Never to be forgotten.
One of those women who matured in to a very beautiful woman .
The new lot can't even come close to the likes of Pat Phoenix and Jean Alexander. They were true professionals.
There’s actually a lot of talent within the Corrie ranks but nostalgia freaks like you would rather live in the past. The likes of Leanne and Carla are played by fantastic actresses.
@@carlaconnor8347 that's one version. You're partly correct. However it's nothing to do with nostalgia.
Corrie in its original concept showed life in the North of England. It was an exciting, ground breaking series, that reduced the upper and middle class nonsense, that came before it.
If you'd listened to Pat you'd have understood that.
Today's actors in many aspects are just as good.
However the storylines are not as believable.
Or
As strong.
Time they turfed wet Sal who was married to Kevin Webster out .
All the actors from 1990 onwards were all about who could shout the loudest!!!!
God love her. Weird to think that in 2022 I'm nearly 61... in fact older than Pat is here
She's easy to like...delightful interview.
She's so comfortable and natural at interviews Pat comes across as a really sincere lady.
What a lovely lady Pat was
What a wonderful lady she was. Just like all the old stars of that time, Jean Alexander, Noele Gordon - they were big big British stars. We should be very proud of them. Coronation Street is no longer the same today.
She's absolutely lovely. I could have had a giggle with her over a G&T or 3 any day. Thank you Pat and rest in power xxx
One of my favourite female icons. A lady who loved champagne with her fish and chips😊
I love that story... last week I had fish and chips with Prosecco (not Champagne, sadly!) and thought of Pat.
LOVE that line "a lady who liked Champagne with her fish and chips"🎩
What a lovely beautiful woman she was.
Absolutely one in a million
The Rita Hayworth of the UK,we got had some good ens ere 💗
A fascinating interview with the much missed actress.
Such a lovely, genuine and honest lady x
Yes she is an anti depressant. Your gran. You're a person you want to hug. She is beautiful. God love her. Xx i love this woman.
I passed her in a Chinese restaurant in Bury St. Edmunds with her then husband Alan Browning. She'd appeared at the Theatre Royal. She was a classy lady!
Fab. She is an interviewers dream
Pat was legend what a lady ! Sadly missed.
60? She looks great!!!!!
She was fab ❤
Pat Phoenix. Elsie Tanner. There can be only one. A natural queen with earthy qualities. ❤
I have been dying to see these interviews for years since I became a fan of Pat’s seven years ago true icon ❤️

Pat Phoenix waa real star 🌟⭐⭐⭐⭐
Good upload 👍
10pm Pat Pheonix was a great actress and seemed a lovely lady
I love what Pat and Jean Alexander brought to the show so much that I stopped channel surfing and became glued to the show in university. I just started watching the youtube posted series starting at 1976. What a thrill to enjoy them all over again. Thelma Barlow just returned to film at 94 yrs of age to do a comedy. She’s so adorable.
Sad to think she died just 2 years later. A fabulous actress and sadly missed.
I remember being at school and the whispers going around about her passing.
Beautiful actress both her books felt as though she was talking to you not in words very natural
Well she was right - 36 years on from this interview and the Street is still going.
It's still going...but hardly strongly. 5 episodes a week and ever-more bizarre storylines are killing it.
@@DIETRICHCICCONE true. It's not the show it was. I was an avid viewer for 30 years but I can't remember now the last time I watched it.
6 episodes is over kill and no quality. 2 episodes is best but they should’ve stopped at 4.
Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs! What a lovely lady ☺
Terry is sure that in this instance you can’t tell the actress from the part - like the dancer from the dance
Pat would be 100 now if she was alive. ❤
If she only knew then that it's still running today because of her efforts as an actor....
Coronation Street has been shit for decades.
Pat was fantastic as Elsie tanner loved her to bits so sad she passed to soon ❤
Such a classy lady ❤️🌹
Hello The first ever appearance of my string trio 'Humoreske' was on this episode if anyone has a copy! Please weve been trying to find someonz who has it for 35 years!!🙏🙏🙏
"I hope it will go on, it's become part of the British way of life" If only she knew. Every episode today a variety of wrong-doing and crime. They think they're filming the Sweeney every week. It's bloody awful. Everyday life? Far from it. The fun's all gone.
Very loving and caring lady; I remember her once saying when she was asked which way she was going to vote in a General Election (donkeys years ago) and she said Labour of course! She didn’t believe in those that came from not so well off backgrounds, and then all of a sudden became Tory because now they had money and so didn’t matter about others. She never forgot her roots.
The best thing about Coronation Street is that it created these iconic women ❤
A very frank interview but interesting about her life
Ii tv tv on
Could you remove the subtitles please
Yes, good old Corrie is now pathetic.
She was definitely ahead of her time!
My favourite actress
All those Roedean phrases lol
A decent woman
Surprised she couldn’t do an Irish accent
The White Tina Turner.
👍 !
She was a heavy smoker, how the fuck do you smoke 60 a day Jesus 🤣
Smoked a lot 🚬
