I recently discovered your material Mr Farley, so happy I did. I was in a monotonous, robotic routine of begging and pleading forgiveness every day, a million times a day. Thank you for this. God bless.

This message is so freeing, it's almost frightening! Are you sure??? This goes against everything I've been taught, but it brings such gratitude and rejoicing!! Wow. I've lived for years in condemnation for scriptures misinterpreted. Probably well-meaning, but so wrong!
Thank you for bringing real peace, and I pray I can really receive it, over what I've feared for so long.
    God bless your ministry.

Wow!!! I really appreciate this truth. I accepted Jesus into my heart and life when I was 12 years of age. Over the years I have really strayed from this truth and have been striving to please God and living under a weight of guilt and condemnation for being imperfect in myself. This truth about what Christ has done for us once and for all is setting me free. Thank God for your preaching!!!

So, by one sacrifice Christ’ did NOT make perfect FOREVER those who are being made holy.
Why would Jesus want us to ask for what was granted to us as a free gift: Forgiveness.
We will always stray until our death, but believers have the reassurance they have nothing to fear because of the “ once for all sacrifice.” Yes, repent after sinning and thank Him for the forgiveness. Don’t insult Him by asking what was already given.

Great and refreshing sermon. My only cringe issue is in my Bible (KJV) “faults” and “sins” are different words with different meanings. So, James 5:16 says to “confess your faults” one to another, not sins. It’s just a shame there are so many “translations” with varying Interpretations, oh well...nothing I can change.

This was the Lord’s Prayer before Christ was sacrificed on the cross to pay the penalty for sins and obtain forgiveness. Christ was a Jew and followed Jewish law which was in effect. Jews had the day of atonement and the sacrifice of bulls and sheep, but the Christ was the final atonement for our sins and we no need to ask for forgiveness of sins. The cross eradicated that need. The penalty for sin was paid in full.
Why ask and beg for the forgiveness which was already given to you as a free gift?

    • @suzannemcmaken4648

    • @PotterSpurn1
      @PotterSpurn1 2 роки тому

@@suzannemcmaken4648 i have a different take on this. It isn't an either/or situation.
Although I agree with you, still under grace as defined by Andy there is no harm is still ridding ourselves of sin and to repent out of reverence and respect for what God has already done to save us. We don't then ask for forgiveness as a condition to be saved, we ask for forgiveness for disrespecting the risen Lord. Being a child of God is not license to behave like a naughty child by taking his grace for granted or to be lazy and not serve his bride. Easy believism is not a good look for any Chistian and someone true to the faith won't live like a secularist. We want to be good models and representatives for Christ, don't we? God wants us to be in the world not of the world.
So I do still say the Lord's prayer, I do ask for sins to be forgiven that he convicts me of and I feel are necessary but rest assured that I am saved whether I overcome them or not and God is faithful and he does help me overcome sin, just like a parent would help a child do their homework if the choice is to not do it at all. It grieves me to know that I displease God by giving into temptation or disobeying his commandments - although I still do that because I am weak. It's like insulting him. But my own weaknesses make me depend on God's faithfulness to me through my faith in him.
That is walking in the peace and joy of the Lord.

      @@PotterSpurn1
I agree with your fundamental points of not taking Christ’s grace for granted and the goal of not sinning should be paramount.
However, we will all sin until the day we die. Our walk with Christ is not based on our performance, but His ‘performance’ on the cross which paid the final penalty for sin.
When I sin, I thank the Lord for His willingness to suffer unto the death that which was acceptable to the Father, which in turn made me acceptable. I am always grateful.
I also repent, turn away, from that sin, and continue my walk, although that sin may return. It is a step by step process, but you are still forgiven, saved, and are God’s child never to be lost again.
Christ, and God’s Holy Spirit, continues to work on my heart issues, as I continue my partnership with Him.
He enables me by keeping in the Word of God, by pouring grace after grace upon me, by transforming my heart, which in turn transforms my behavior, my words, my responses, and give grace to others. But, it is not me, but the Holy Spirit which achieves it.
If we continue with the Lord’s Prayer, we are essentially declaring there was no forgiveness of sin at the cross, the work is unfinished, and we both know He said, “It is finished.”
We also then fall into a works based system of achieving, thinking it falls upon us as we perform, instead of resting in Him as His spirit does the work in our hearts. We must trust Him in His promise.
The Lord’s Prayer must be left behind just as the Jewish ritual of offering up bulls and goats for sins. Put it away.
      It’s over.
There is joy in the knowledge in the blessed assurance Christ and the Father have made their home in you, as it says in the gospel of John 14.
“If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
      How beautiful is the invitation.
What are His words? Not the 613 that came down through Moses to the Jew, but the two greatest commandments which are now for His bride, the new chosen people of believers, which have the peace of resting in Him.

Finally a pastor that knows what he is talking about and understands the true Gospel.
Lordship salvationists (Perseverence of the Saints believers) don't. Their message is riddled with contradictions and this causes angst and confusion in the believer. Most of all it insults Christ terribly. The Calvinist uses verbal trickery to make works based salvation look as close to true faith as possible. But why? If they believed their own account was true, why hide anything at all.

If our sin is forgiven and we have fellowship with God in spite of sin in our lives and if we don't need to confess our sin anymore, then how do we ask God to get rid of ongoing sinful habits and or addictions from our lives ? I truly don't have the power in my humanity to do this. I am too weak to overcome the sin I don't want anymore in my life! My sinful habits cause me to feel distant from God. The lord's did say " if I harbor iniquity in my heart the Lord will not hear my prayers " How do I go about asking God for deliverance from my faults and sins and for permanent restoration ? I truly don't want the addiction I have anymore because my inner man and my spirit mind does not agree nor want to participate in the sins I act out on. This sinful habit is caused by what my earthly brain and body craves which is extremely powerfully and overwhelming. It desires to indulge in the flesh 24/7 and gets me to act out quite often when I can't resist temptation anymore ....I hate this conflict in me with a passion, fear and sadness and and it makes me feel a great deal of shame. I truly desire to be different so how do I change if I can't ask God to change me by confessing ? How do I ask God to heal me ?

Received Jesus in my heart at age 7 baptized at age 9 molested by older man at age 10 have struggled with innapropriate sexual desires and appetites off and on ever since but am still believing God for full deliverance I know a part of me that is my flesh is where all my evil desires reside and conflict with my purity desires and desires for joy, and intimacy with God. My heart refuses to participate in what my flesh desires even when I do act out. I define the flesh as my physical body and my earthly brain but my mind and heart are the spiritual part of me. Whenever I say no to the flesh if the flesh desires continue to nag me physically and in my earthly thoughts eventually after saying no and resisting I give in because I find the suffering of white knuckling against the flesh is too intense and cannot resist any longer...

Hello Mark - I know this is a year later but I have been listening to a lot of Farley these past weeks to really instill the grace message in my being and your struggle truly resonates with me. I also had a little bit of a hesitation with this one as I am in your boat. Victory over certain sins escapes me though I cry out to God daily and it feels normal and natural to want to ask forgiveness when we have sinned because we have grieved the holy spirit. In the same way we would ask a friend to please forgive us for grieving them. While we can understand the theology of it, my heart still apologizes to Jesus for my sin while knowing that I am under grace. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. So keep the faith, don't stop fighting against sin, our hope is in Him who delivers us all. We all have our why's and how longs? But the Lord is faithful and His timing is perfect. He has us in tough seasons for His holy reasons. God bless you brother.

Mark, your comment is 2 years old but I have something to say as a person that went trough the exact same thing.
What most Christian teachers are missing is that they are not speaking enough about your natural being, the flesh. Christians don’t want to hear this bc of their self righteousness, but the the flesh is deep sinful and corrupt. Your flesh produces the sins, not you. The flesh has 0% to do with your identity in Christ. Your real you is your Spirit. In your Spirit you are righteous, perfect and holy, for ever. The toxic thoughts and feelings you are experiencing come from your flesh, not your spirit. Christians say the flesh isn’t evil and it is neutral, no this is a lie. God despise the flesh and your Spirit and your flesh are enemy’s. Even good works of the flesh mean nothing to God. You can’t do anything to please God. In your flesh dwells no good thing, so when it’s not good it can’t be neutral. The only thing that will change us is to keep hearing sermons about grace and who you are in your spirit, the more you keep listening the more understanding will enter your mind, the more your mind gets renewed to this truth the more the fruits of your spirit will enter your heart, including faith. Your spirit will become more real to you than your flesh. Our fight is to come out of the flesh not to change it, you can’t change your flesh. The more you keep hearing the more you‘ll rein over the sin. It’s all a matter of who we identify with: your new spirit or the flesh. What you are experiencing is the law, you try to overcome sin by yourself, wich is impossible. You need to understand that you do absolutely nothing, you need to see who you are in Christ and that your forgiveness, righteousness, holiness is allready finished. Your mind needs to know that no sin can undo your right standing before God.

How? Jesus sanctified Himself when He set Himself apart for our sake, as a sacrifice acceptable and well pleasing in the sight of God......and sanctifying, in the ancient notion of it under the law, did ordinarily signify the setting of persons and things apart to the special service of God; which was done legally by certain ritual performances and ceremonies, and is still done inwardly and spiritually by regeneration, and renewing of the hearts of men and women by the wonderful works of the Holy Spirit. Christ said that for His disciples sake He sanctified Himself, being both the Priest and the sacrifice.
When? When you confess that you are a sinner in need of a savior and place your trust in Jesus , you are forgiven once for all, perfectly cleansed and Heaven ready. At that very moment, you are baptized into the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which then you are immediately sanctified ( holy, set apart for God) and are not a part of the world anymore, we may still be in the world, but we are not of the world, and we are dead to sin and alive in Jesus Christ because Christ is alive in us. Also, be careful about the confusion of "progressive sanctification" that you may read and hear about, that is talking about your behavior, also known as the renewing of your mind.

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
    9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Yes, you are half right, it is true, but God must be asked for saving by the Gospel.

At 37:50 1 John 1,9 he states, Its an invitation to the sin denier/ unbeliever to admit his sins and get forgiven, now that is a false statement, No where in the NT does it say that a unbeliever must confess their sins, its a false statement,
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
So no unbeliever has to confess their sins to be saved,
Acts 10, 43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."
Now this statement in 1 John, if you look at chapter 2, he talking to believers /I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth, So the writer of 1 John is writing to believers/ unbelievers, and makes a statement in 1 John 1 5-10 IF we believers say we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth/ the If we would mean believers.
9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
So why is 1John1 9 saying if we confess, it is not necessary for a believer to confess, and also NOT necessary for any unbeliever to confess, to gain the light/ receive the spirit.
The only place when confess your sins statement is made is under the Baptist rule, so the writer of 1 John was using this statement, and mixing it with the later rule of Jesus of being forgiven, but the confess and forgiven, in one statement, are from 2 different systems, first system repent confess from the Baptist, and believe the Gospel baptise and your forgiven of All sins, from a later Jesus teaching.

“Beware the grace Pharisees who jump on you if you dare to ask God for forgiveness. They will say you’re operating in unbelief and legalism.”
This claim is sometimes made against those who preach grace. Because we say God has forgiven all your sins, apparently it’s wrong to ask him to forgive you. Apparently asking God to give what he has already provided is an insulting sin.
But I don’t buy it. It’s true that God has forgiven you, but if asking helps you to receive, then by all means ask!
There is nothing wrong in coming to the throne of grace in your hour of need to receive mercy and find grace. If you need forgiveness, God has an ample supply. It’s not wrong to ask. What’s wrong is telling people God won’t forgive them unless they first do things like repent or confess all their sins. What’s wrong is telling the poor and needy they’ve got to pay to dine at the table of the Lord’s abundance. What’s wrong is putting price tags on the gift of grace.
It’s not wrong to ask God for anything you need. He’s your Father and he cares for you. He wants you to present your requests to him (Php. 4:6). If you have made mistakes and are need of forgiveness, have the freedom to ask knowing that he will give you what you ask for.
But here’s something you may not appreciate: God will forgive you even if you don’t ask, even if you forget to ask. How do I know? Because he’s already done it.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. (Eph 1:7)
Perhaps you think you have to ask as in, “If I don’t ask, God won’t forgive me.” That’s like saying, “Christ didn’t carry all my sin,” which he did, or “Jesus needs to come and die again,” which he won’t, or “God needs my permission to forgive me,” which he doesn’t.
By all means have the freedom to repent, confess, ask, say sorry, or turn cartwheels if you wish, but do these things out of a sense of gratitude rather than obligation. Understand that you are not forgiven because you do the right things or ask in the proper manner. You are forgiven because your Father loves you and abounds in grace towards you.
It’s essential that you see this.
From God’s side, forgiveness is a done deal. There remain no more sacrifices for sin. But from our side sin may be a big problem indeed. Many are crippled by guilt and condemnation. Others remain slaves to sin and are incapable of making healthy choices. The solution is not to buy into a message of dead works-“Try harder! Turn from sin! Beg God to forgive you!” The remedy is to receive the grace that has been provided in Jesus Christ.
Why do you need to receive the gift of forgiveness if you are already forgiven? Because grace will change you. It will free you from sin’s brutal and condemning grip.
Unwanted grace is worthless. Leave God’s grace on the shelf and it won’t benefit you. This is why the New Testament writers exhort us to believe the good news. They’re basically saying, “Quit beating yourself up over sin and trying to make yourself clean. Trust Jesus and rest in his finished work.”
THG_sideReceiving grace is simply a matter of agreeing with God. It’s thanking him that through Jesus “I have been cleansed from all unrighteousness, and all my sins have been taken away.” It’s giving him thanks in all circumstances because his grace abounds in all circumstances.

So in Greek the word repent is metanoia it means to change ones mind however in Latin the word repent is reponteth it means to grieve over sin with guilt and shame? Wow! So we know the new testament was written in Greek yes Greek NOT LATIN! So your repentance was done at salvation! You changed your mind about how you saw God through Jesus! The word confess in Greek means to agree with To agree with God that he sent his son however in Latin the word confess is to admit to sin with guilt and shame! Once again wow! I will believe the new covenant behold the lamb of God who TAKES AWAY the sins of the world not covers takes away! Hebrews 7. 27 grace and peace.

Pastor Andrew Farley, This was a message that was going so well, and I have only found one problem with one of your teachings in the past but the more I hear and catch I see that idea has infiltrated more of your teaching, or maybe it was a mistake. Time line around 9:30 - 10:45. You turned the grace of God to look like it is a sin free-fer-all time now. Yet you say it is not of works, but a person has to have a changed heart and changed life, sounds like works added to salvation again. Christ came to save sinners. Yes, he wants us to be decent and kind and right living people but you can't require that as part of, or proof of salvation, otherwise salvation is not a free gift. Ephesians 2:7-9 Salvation through Christ alone. Ehp. 10 What God wants us to do after salvation. Two separate choices, One to chose Christ as my savior and two to chose to serve Him.

You have completely misunderstood Andrew's teaching. Andrew isn't turning salvation into a sin free-for-all. He's repeatedly denounced that view, as Paul did. He clearly denounces it in this video in the very timeline that you identified.
Andrew also isn't saying that we must change our lives -- God changes us. God cleanses us from all unrighteousness, gives us a new heart and a new spirit, and the sealing of the Holy Spirit. We should renew our minds in the grace and knowledge of Jesus, but we don't do that for God's sake -- we do it for our sake. Doing so will help us enjoy our lives better, and God wants us to enjoy life. When we act in concert with our new heart and spirit, we will enjoy life more.
Yes, God wants us to behave in certain ways after we are saved, but that isn't a *condition* -- it is a *consequence.* God wants us to act in certain ways because He knows that we will enjoy life better if we do, and God wants us to enjoy life. God prepared good works for us to walk in (Eph 2:10) and once saved we are capable of doing them. These works (believe, love, share the gospel) have nothing to do with our salvation and our salvation isn't at risk. You could say that we are adding works TO salvation, but we aren't adding works FOR salvation. Salvation is still only by believing and confessing Jesus. But those good works are not *required.* How many would it take? How many did the thief on the cross perform?
Living faithfully is not a requirement and Andrew never said it was. If we live faithfully it will not prove anything to God -- but it may convince *us* that the power of God is alive in us. That provides assurance of salvation. It will also demonstrate to unbelievers that Christ is good when we live faithfully and are enjoying life as God intended.
Confessing Jesus as Lord is not two choices -- it is one choice with multiple aspects. We also don't "serve" God, as if He had any needs that we could meet. Any service we do for God is accomplished by serving other people. We don't do this out of obligation, but out of love.

@@enonknives5449 Thank you for reading my comment. However you misunderstood me. That is why I put up the time line so you could hear it for your self. 10:20-10:45 There are several schools of thought in the protestant group about works and salvation and three of them in some way or sort make works a requirement. Calvinism, Arminism, and lordship teaching. I am not against people doing good works. But when it is applied to salvation to get to maintain it or to not loose it you now have a false gospel because it depends on you. So yes, if a person heard the good news of the gospel and believed in Jesus Christ as their own savior, and never made any change in their life from that point on, they are saved. Because it is a free gift from God. Most people might not be that way, but will get plugged in to the bible and other good things and do good and give out the gospel as well. However to make works a proof that has to be there, is making salvation about works instead of the grace of God and his free gift. Romans 6 instructing them how a believer should act and live. He is not telling them this is required to keep you saved or not loose it! 10:20-10:45 Andrew is saying if we told people this freedom then they would just go a sin it up to the full. This is exactly what the Jews and the false teachers were accusing Paul of and that is why they hatted him. Salvation does give us that freedom that is why we are are told in many of the epistles of Paul not to live to the flesh but to live but the spirit. The three religion types I mentioned all have as a requirement to have good works and no bad after you are saved, or You did not have it in the first place (Calvin), You can lose it (Armin), You did not mean it or commit to it (l-ship) .

@@lonecrusaider I am saying making changed life or heart change as a requirement is adding works to the gospel plan of salvation. However if a person says that they have believed in Christ Jesus for their salvation, and they never said that before, that is a change that every believer should have, however some never tell anyone that they believed.
John 12: 42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

The """turn from all your sins"""
    DANGEROUS lie exposed ( again).
To repent does not mean to turn from all of your sin. It is "Metanoia" a change of mind.
in Luke 13 Jesus Christ said repent or perish, so change your mind about me being the your Messiah Israel or perish.
( The Gospel of salvation is the context not there a walk of a Christian).
If it did mean to turn from all of your sins you would be in massive trouble because you sin daily and you will be lying and would have to repent of misusing the word repent and calling God a sinner who repented more than anybody in the old testament.
this is a classic case of 99% of Christians repeating lies after lies after lies and then not been able to realise they have been deceived and deceiving others when they actually see someone correct them which I hope this article will do.
Furthermore the gospel is not turn from all of your sins fear God obey his commands. That will see you go straight to hell

Then what happens to Christians who experience sudden death or "forget" to ask forgiveness of a sin?? It's clear in Heb. He died "ONce" for all sin. Christ is NOT continually dying on the cross because only sins can be forgiven through blood. I knew a minister once who died in a terrible traffic accident I wonder if he had "un-confessed sin," Is he in hell? NO think about it and also think about the audience the writer is speaking to when you read your scriptures.

@@grannywoods12 You say that you don't get any real answers. OK, here's clear talk now. If you commit certain sins, you will fall from grace, lose your salvation, and possibly suffer eternal damnation, at least if you didn't honestly repent. Fornicators and adulterers, e.g., will not see the Kingdom of God, this is stated very unmistakenly several times in the New Testament. Yes, Jesus Christ brought about "our salvation", but it was never meant to be a guaranteed individual salvation for all of us, regardless of the specific individual's way of life. By/through Jesus Christ, MANKIND as such was saved, since before Jesus' death and resurrection the souls/spirits of the dead went to a bleak netherworld devoid of the presence and glory of God. Even Abraham, Moses, and all the prophets of the Old Testament weren't spared that fate. Now, because of Jesus Christ, the spirits of man have the chance to go to Heaven, to be with God, and to await their resurrection, body and soul. That's Good News indeed, but it applies only to the worthy. Don't get me wrong, we're all basically unworthy, not a single human being actually DESERVES salvation, but God is mercyful. Yet there are many whose deeds go against the will of God to an extent that they lose His grace, and ultimately their salvation. For God is not only mercyful but also just and severe.
