- Join me in a trail walkthrough in the Hatfield McCoy Trail System! This time we tackle Ivy Branch in my 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Ecodiesel tackling mostly the black trails. We also encountered ruins and an old cemetery. I tried my best to make a thorough representation of what to expect if you come out to do this trail system.
Awesome video! I live close to Ivy Branch and didn’t realize I could take my Tacoma on that system…this past week I ran both my taco and my dirt bikes (with my son) out to Ivy and we had a blast! Had never even been to any HMC trails before this! Ivy Branch is my new playground!!! Thanks for showing me what I had been missing!
You’re absolutely welcome and I’m happy to hear you found my video helpful. I also have a video out on Bearwallow as well which isn’t far from there.
Place looks amazing. And great signage is always a plus. Great video Scott!
Thanks bud! It’s a fun place to explore. Need to get back in the JKU and run the double blacks with some friends.
@@TrailExpedition for sure. That would def be more fun to play on those double black trails. Oh baby!
@BadLuckHotRod trust me I wanted to! But being solo I could have got in over my head really quick.
We were fascinated by the cemeteries down there. You’re driving in the woods and suddenly there’s grave plots. We stopped at one the pay our respects. Sadly most of the markers were gone. But there was a map that showed where people were buried.
I definitely wasn’t expecting to stumble on that during my ride but was interesting to see. Always have to tread with caution and show the utmost respect when you find someone’s final resting place.
Ha unfortunately all of us will be buried somewhere that will never be visited again after a couple of family generations and some day someone will stumble upon our graves and say the same thing you did..
@Bringit29 you’re not wrong. Such is life.
Awesome trail system, I live very close to their system, in the southwestern part of Virginia. Thanks for documenting your ride so well!
Thank you for the kind words. If I go back I’d like to bring my JK and tackle some of the harder trails.
@@TrailExpeditionI wish I had a smaller Jeep but the Gladiator is all I can afford at the moment and I paid so much for it I wouldn’t attempt the double black trails. I would be comfortable with the trails you documented in the video. What size tires are you running on the Gladiator?
You could definitely do the black trails in a Gladiator. I’m running a 2” lift and 37” tires.
@@TrailExpedition thanks!
@davidbelcher8177 you’re welcome!
25 bucks for the year? Why wouldn’t you do that? Seems like a fun place to go wheeling. Surprised you had it all to yourself with how nice the weather was.
Right! If I lived closer I would go back with the JKU and run the double blacks.
Im 40 already with 4 kids ranging from 1.5 to 17 years old, wish i could afford to enjoy the time i have left lol
I hear ya there. Finances and obligations take precedence but it’s always good to have a little fun once in awhile.
@TrailExpedition going today to see what kind of cancer is killing me.....lmao 42 is all I'm gonna get but I'm guessing at this point
@mblake0420 that’s devastating. I’m sorry to hear that, man. My wife has been fighting breast cancer for the past 5+ years. She’s beat it a couple times but keeps coming back. The struggle is real. Hang in there 💪🏻
@TrailExpedition those black trails doable without lockers bfg at 33s (same as stock rubicon), rubi rails, max tow?
@mblake0420 I think you’d be good with that setup. Just gotta stay on the right lines and take it slow. Having a good spotter would help as well!
Lotta map usage. Tim is rubbing off on you
Haha! His old man instinct are rubbing off on me 😆
I'm running a 1500 silverado with a 3.5 lift and 34s
Do you think it will be good to tackle most of ivy?
You could easily do all the green and blue trails with that setup. Possibly several black trails as well depending on if you have a winch and not afraid of a little damage.
Looked like a fun place...........minus the helmet :P
I know a lot of people won’t go simply because of the helmet rule. It’s a silly rule that a lot of people choose to forget.
