It’s really sad as to what they’re doing to the island. Making it just like every other trail in Michigan. Boring and flat.

Maybe it’s my old Jeep! I sold it a few years back.

Honestly, if I wasn’t solo, I would have given it a shot. I knew going left had a higher likelihood of rollover and the right I would eventually end up in the tree.

Drummond has recently gone through a “smoothing of trails” so a lot of them have gotten a lot easier. With that said, your rig can do everything on the island. However, I would probably stay out of the tight twisties and the tank trap area. If you do decide to tackle them, stick with the bypass lines.

I’m all for the boulders at the lookout. That’s fine. It’s the overall smoothing of the trails that has people pissed. It’s not just Marblehead. Several of the trails have had hard areas removed. It’s literally the best place to wheel in Michigan and it’s actively being taken away..

Geez, sounds like you guys hit it hard! I go out alone a lot and eventually I’m sure it will come back to bite me in the ass. Typically, if I’m solo, I will bypass obstacles that look like they will get me in trouble. Which is the main reason why I bypassed the rock wall in the beginning of the trail.

I’m just running a 2” AEV spacer lift and 37s. I highly recommend good rock sliders and skids. Along with a good winch as well.

That bumper has been rock solid for years. My previous one the powder coating was horrible. This one has been great.

I like being solo because it makes for a better video. If I’m wheeling with other people I cannot get out and set up shots as much. It’s kinda nice going slow and taking your time with it. Plus, it really shows how much you and your rig are capable of.

@@TrailExpedition Any ideas on using a drone while your driving? Do they do autopilot and just film while your run a trail for the short time I can with the battery draining?

@Good-luck-Jonathan I use a Skydio 2 drone for most of my aerial shots. It’s an excellent drone that has obstacle avoidance and flies itself. Unfortunately they stopped making them but I’m sure there are other ones out there that will work.

Ha! Yeah, it’s the rating on OnX. It’s honestly that number for that one obstacle I bypassed. In the video it doesn’t look bad but it was actually very steep.

Agreed. I put it on in the areas that I get really off camber but I’m not gonna flop going 3 MPH on some smaller rocks.

The cave definitely looked like a mining tunnel, however, every one I’ve come across is blocked off. This is the first one I’ve encountered that was actually accessible. And thank you for the kind words. I put a lot of time and effort into making and editing these videos. Good to know they’re appreciated. I found out awhile ago that growing a UA-cam channel is a lot harder than one would think.

@@TrailExpedition Yes, it is hard. As far as I can tell there is no rule or reason. Some channels are fantastic, but small. Some channels are 'meh' and doing quite well. But, I wish you all good & beautiful things!

I actually run a full size spare in the back of my Jeep with the Excessive Industries Gatekeeper mount. I have a full video on the setup if you wanted to check it out. I also keep a tire repair kit on me.

Not exactly sure what I was hungry for up on. My rear lower control arms have been modified to sit flush with the axle as I was getting hung up on them a lot in the past. The obstacle I bypassed definitely looked sketchier actually looking at it opposed to how it appears in video. It’s all about knowing your limits and what you and your vehicle are capable of. My Jeep could have done it but being solo I didn’t want to risk it. Thanks for the comment!

I think they give it as an 8 on onX off-road for that one obstacle I did bypass. If it wasn’t for that one obstacle it would probably be closer to a six or seven. The hardest trail I’ve ever run was holy Cross.

It was a very fun and challenging trail!

Haha! I’ll keep that in mind! I’m constantly trying to improve my editing skills. Hopefully I can transfer this type of editing into some of my long form videos.

You’re not wrong. I’ve honestly thought about leaving a Jeep out west in storage and flying out several times a year to get some legit off-roading in 😆

@@TrailExpedition Basically if your state doesn’t have BLM land your not gonna have real trails. What do we have the 7 hour plane crash? it’s miserable just look at onX we live in an offroad desert. Also the ATVs and snowmobile culture that rules Michigan has clubs, organizations and political clout. I have a cabin in Northern Wisconsin the trails are so much fun but I can’t take my truck on them. I’d definitely move if I could I miserable here as a 4x4r

The pressure is amazing on this little shower. Does go through water pretty fast though!

@@TrailExpedition If you’re camping near a fresh water source you could just refill with that. You don’t necessarily need filtered water for a shower. Right?

@surgicalinstrumentsexplained I’ve bathed in Lake superior before and many other lakes similar to it so I don’t see why you couldn’t just filter out of that!

That spot did have a lot of loose rocks and I stayed on the pedal to maintain momentum through it. I honestly think he took it to slow and lost traction. Then backed down and got more hung up.

PD in a JKU is badass! Definitely not the fastest vehicle out there but offroad it’s unmatched! I have a JKU as well and wheel the piss out of it.

I hope you get out there! It’s a totally different style of wheeling than we have here. I don’t plan on doing a yearly Drummond trip anymore and will probably replace it with a yearly Colorado/Moab trip.
