Same as you: I was 9 years old in 77 and never had one as a kid but always wanted one. About 25 years ago I got one from eBay, practically new in box. And it still is. When I wanna play it I use one of those re-releases they made but nothing can beat the look and feel of the original.
LOL I feel you I always wanted this game and instead we got the Merlin that looked like a phone. I finally eBay'd one for $20. I like the buttons on this one a lot better than Football 2. I'm gonna install a headphone jack and play mine on planes like a super nerd. I love the LEDs that look more like little incandescent filaments. And I love that the score works like the 1973 James Bond LED watch where it doesn't light up unless you press the button.
Great memories! I was also 9 yo in 1977. I remember being at a slumber party with friends and one of my buddies had this game. We played it all night long. The sleep deprivation was worth it. 🙂

Me too. I was 12 on my way to 13 when this song came out in March 1979. I turned 58 this past May.
