Mr. Hirtam Giutrerrez, SIR. YOU still have an AUDIENCE LEARNING FROM YOU, after 7 years, SIR. My friend has a 2002 Dodge Dakota Sport 4 by 4 with this same transmission. With the knowledge you instilled in me from your VIDEO CLASSROOM, and my own mechanical inclinations taught to me by my father, I just recently replaced the shift solenoid in his transmission and now the first gear clutch plates are slipping due to his off-road Adventures LOL. With your GENEROUS HELPING OF KNOWLEDGE 🥰,
I have no doubt in my mind that I will be able to replace these wear parts by following your tear down and parts inspection procedure. It is with great pleasure that I commend you for your sharing of your knowledge. 😇 GOD BLESS YOU 😇

Can definitely tell this isn't your first rodeo.
I'm getting ready to replace the valve body with solenoid pack and both filters, in the next two weeks, in my 2004 Dakota.
Reason is due to intermittent delayed and hard shifting, both up and down.
I found it a quart low and added SeaFoam to clean and condition it. That has helped, but at 100k miles, I don't mind spending under $400 to replace them myself, with my 18 year old grandson. Good project.
Since researching this, I've learned a lot about the 545rfe transmission, but knew nothing about the gear and pump side.
You made it look so simple to tear down. I don't think I would go that far myself, but if I did, it would be from watching you work.
Not many people have the knowledge and ability to do what your doing and on top of that to do a video and teach others is amazing. I'll look for more of your work in the future.

      Did you rebuild it successfully

    • @Wakeupandsniffthecoffee
      @Wakeupandsniffthecoffee 2 дні тому

@@jpn234 I replaced it, but still has issues. I ended up biting the bullet and took it to a transmission shop.
They went through it and said the problem was the computer.
They wouldn't do the computer because of past issues they've had when they did.
I called a computer refurbishing company, gave them my vin number and they programmed a rebuilt one.
When it came, all I had to do was unplug the old one and plug in the new one and it worked fine.
They required that I send back the old one as a core to get back the core charge.
      So far so good though.
Beyond that my grandson got his license and used it to drive two hours a day to get to school.
Unfortunately, with a brand new license, he had three accidents where he ran into people from behind.
So I had to rebuilt the front end, replacing water pump, thermostat, radiator, AC cooler, bumper, grille. I did most of that three times.
He seems to be driving better now, graduates aircraft mechanic school and is working an hour away at a small plane repair shop.
Are you dealing with transmission issues too?

Wow, man you have an incredible ability in tearing apart that transmission. I couldn't keep up with the speed you were going. I likewise have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 545RFE transmission - and I wonder if you could give me an educated guess. When in overdrive, I occasionally hear something under tension all of a sudden let go. I at first thought it was something swinging and banging against the bottom of the truck. It's random, happens once in a while, under acceleration, then while coasting - and I am pretty sure it's transmission related because when I take the truck out of OD, the noise is gone.

Great Video! I think I have to rebuild mine 5-45rfe soon, when I come to a stop it feels like the trans is not engaging and wants to stall the motor just for a sec then it unlocks and then its ok, it used to do it when it was cold but now I notice its doing it more, plus sometimes when you put it in gear (D) when its cold it feels like its slipping and then it will throw a code but ussaly you restart it and its ok if you feel it slip just a little..

First I thought I should just try to replace the Solenoid pack, but now I watched through this whole vid and it made me now also suspect the spring ...
