Dear Steve Edwards, I have been an avid listener of Guitarra Azul for quite sometime. I never thought that you are equally adept in Classical Guitar. My respects!
I Completely Agree - although exhilerating and impressive at those faster tempos, I believe the Music speaks better at a more relaxed Tempo and the Glorious and subtle harmonies of the Master Fernando Sor should not be rushed by! The story of this Recording and Video is Crazy in that we never rehearsed together prior to recording this piece! Christian and I Met That afternoon while he was in Chicago for a Concert. We had become acquainted through facebook and agreed to record something together if he ever does a concert in town, or if I ever find myself in Germany, I foolishly selected a 12 Minute Virtuosic tour de force Sor's "Souvenir of Russia" In retrospect I really should have chosen a shorter piece! I Literally Picked him up at his Hotel Downtown and we drove together straight to Dr Caw Recording Studio in Northbrook where we proceeded to knock it out in 3 hours! I of course I was well aware of his brilliant artistry from his many recordings and his work for "Music minus One" so I had no doubt he could do it! Anyhow I'm so happy it turned out so well! Thank You for your Lovely comments!
Well you play together really well and look like you enjoyed it. Would love to see how both of you approach my pieces , the Grigoryan brothers have recorded quite a bit. Anyway nice playing.
