On March 25, 2024, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) shared their first update regarding the detection of HPAI in dairy cattle in several states across the United States. Since then, doctors, scientists, and researchers in state and federal agencies have been working around the clock to learn about the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) into dairy cattle.
