I'm also 42. '85 and the whole decade was such a beautiful time. Such magic that we will never experience again except for clips and music like this. I believe that is were the bittersweet feelings come from friend that is a stranger
This brings me back to the happiest days of my life. I used to watch all those movies with my best childhood friend. The goonies and back to the future on repeat. Sadly he died in a tragic accident this year and this brings him back in my mind

Taking the city bus to our skate spots. Coming home to playing Nintendo. Or Friday nights going to blockbuster to rent some movies and ordering pizza. Now this stupid timeline I'm living in seems so unreal. I swear like I'm living on a different world. Boy how I miss the 90s. If you didn't get to experience the 90s I feel bad for you. Wow so many memories for real! How time Flys, feel so old... So sad how this world is changing and I feel for the new generation more so. Can't beat the 80s, don't get me wrong I know there were hard times during those days especially in the mid 80s 1984 but I still remember the good times better summers, food was fresher, people were healthier!

I don't know if I would have included the horror elements as the song is meant to invoke the warm and fuzzies of nostalgia. Yes I realize that horror fans might have a nostalgic feeling for them, but horror was (and probably still is) a very niche genre. A lot of us who were kids at those times weren't really allowed to watch them (and yes I also realize that a number of kids still watched them despite the r rating). It just sort of soured what was a beautiful memory of how life used to be.
