The 80s is weirdly universally nostalgic. Like for some reason that whole era captured the essence of nostalgia and no matter when you where born you feel it.
I was lucky enough to live through the 80's as a teen. We explored, we ventured, and we lived!! Not hiding behind a phone 24/7. No mobile phone, meant social interaction was a necessity rather than an option. People forget how to "talk" to someone bcuz they rely on their fingers. The more we distance ourselves from each other, we make it that much easier for A.I. to dominate us.
@@scragendpodsy I was lucky enough to be born in April of 70. I would not trade the 70's or 80's for anything on Earth. Was a magical time to grow up. I'll go to my grave missing and looking back fondly on those eras.
I’m 56 in 2024 🎉 remember the 80s having a drink 🥃. Cheers 🍻 to everyone who was there in the 80s mad love to all of you. Didn’t we have a great time together F the cell phones and internet just hanging out and having a great time together. Damm I miss it
I remember new year's eve in NYC, it was 1988. There was a pub right across the times square ball, to the south of it. No barriers, no 8 hour waits, no searches. We sat in the bar keeping warm, by the window, it was about 25 degrees outside. The staff was a bit picky but not so much, they let us order drinks every hour. About 15 minutes before the ball dropped we walked out, saw it drop, cheered and went home. I was the designated driver before it was a thing. Got everyone home safely by 1am. Was the best time of our lives. Last time I watched the ball drop was in 2019, it was so different then, I'm sure it is very different now.
Just 3 years ahead of you - turning 59 in 4 months. This movie struck a chord with me when it came out as there definitely were specific cliques in high school (even in a small town outside Sacramento, class of '83). What a time!
Im 51, and i thank God for this music....takes me right back...to better times...easier times...no bullshit, not perfect....but no bullshit....i feel sorry for kids brought up outside the 80s...they missed it

I was a teenager in the 80’s - best time ever - In a way I’m still there - never left and this song transports me back like a drug. First girl, first love first kiss - no BS social media, no politically correct - just fun... great song - tears roll down...
At least you have something to be proud of... I am 21 years old guy that will never ever taste this kind of joy and life experience ... my progressist generation will destroy every achievement of yours... that's kinda sad.
Please someone invent a time-machine so I can go back to 1980 and do it all over again knowing what I know now. From 1966 myself. For some reason UA-cam keeps pushing me back to the 80s and lets me tear up when I watch videos and songs from FM84, The Midnight and all those superb nostalgia heroes. I'm all there and never left the building. Whenever I DJ anywhere, I always force people to hear the Simple Minds when they leave the place. Sometimes people get it and approach me with the same crying on the inside laughing on the outside that I feel..
Michele, This song helps me remember a better time! And it still feels like the 80's when I hear music like this... Thank the Lord we can still go back in our minds and remember. Anytime before this time, glad to have lived and experienced the 80's in its entirety, I wouldn't trade it for anything!!
Love this song.play ova and ova.never get tired of listening to it.takes me back to school where u remember someone who r just like the characters in the film..coleman
Living in the ongoing nightmare of 2020/21/22 & now 2023, when a woman isn't a 'woman' anymore & paedophilia is the new norm, you wonder how the hell we've ended up here compared to life back in the 80's. I could weep for humanity. We need the to bring the vibe of the 80s back into the present once this mess is over.
80's was real. Flesh and bones and emotions were all true and alive unlike that fake social media and internet age and its plastic people. God i miss those old good days and love that track so much as a rememberence
Ah yes the days of aids epidemic, racial tension and poverty that makes today look tame, cold war, lack of technology and a lack of connection compared to today. The GOOD OLE DAYS! nostolgia is fine but dont make it out to be something it wasnt lol. Edit : not to mention the enormous medical advances over the last 30 years lol
you're right about the progression in technical things n stuff but things will never be as pure as in the 80s when it comes to interaction between two people being interested in each other. it's the simple emotional things that used to matter back the days
The best dark fantasy movies all came out in the 80s: Legend, Labyrinth, E.T., Time Bandits, The NeverEnding Story, Goonies, The Dark Crystal, and The Last Unicorn.

Memories???? I'm 43 now and every time i see 80's movies it takes me back to my childhood and this song just takes it to another level. It bring tears to my eyes. make me want to go back in time. 80s were RAD!
I'm a few years younger and was born smack in the middle of the 80s. My brain was formed during this time. No wonder it all feels like a fever dream. It feels like home. A more simple time that I will always hold with me.
Growing up in the 80s, there's just a unique, special, deep bond to a belief in love, hope, joy, and happiness that others not from the 80s simply do not have. Sometimes now, I feel like it's a curse at times, but I'm always restored to the fact that it all was such a blessing.
In 2022 everyone is on their phone and says hi with a fake smirk. In the 80’s you actually looked at the people and wanted to talk. No digital world to consume your manners. Absolutely love this video! ❤️
Yea you actually have to walk to a phone booth to call and there’s a queue behind you and you can’t say those intimate private words to the girl on the other end.
YOU NEVER KNOW THE VAULE OF A MOMENT, UNTIL IT BECOMES A MEMORY!! When we where kids we didn't know how precious the moments where until we got older. I miss these days the simple time the fun times it was fun it was care free it was simply beautiful.
This song captures the way I felt when I saw The Breakfast Club in 1987 (a couple of years after it first came out). Feelings like that can’t quite be put perfectly into words, you just had to be there, (kind of like watching The Wonder Years) but this song takes me back to that 80’s feeling when I was a young teenager living the best decade, going to Blockbuster for VHS tapes, gaming at arcades and on my Commodore64 and the NES, surfing at the beach, listening to my mom’s cassette tapes, or hangin’ out at the local milkbar. Simple things were the best. The world wasn’t so complicated. Thank you for the nostalgia. I love listening to this song!
I envy you guys, I was born in 89 and in the last decade > 2010, I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I would gladly trade the past 15 years and the next 5 years to live in the 70s and 80s. the arcade time, the cinema, the real-life without the internet. true friends and no social media.

Indeed you"re right. Live the eighties and the people who loved it. Best people and songs ever. It keeps me happy and so alive nowadays. Wish you to feel the same. 😊
I was born in '82 and only had a short glance at the brilliance of childhood during the greatest decade, and just like that it burned away into the sun leaving me with a hollow remanent known as the 90's. How I wish my children could have experienced the times I had when I grew up.
by the time we were more aware of our surroundings, it was already the second half and tail end of the 80s. would've been great to have gotten the full experience. Sometimes I relive the 80s by watching shows like Stranger Things (which tonally fits the 80s to a T), Freaks and Geeks, and actual music and tv shows from the 80s like cartoons (Transformers, Mask, Count Duckula, Gummi Bears, TMNT... lol).
Dear Kids... I was born in 1950. I am just as young as I have always been, why? When I was young I loved old people and their stories that were never-ending.. I talked to folks who lived through the civil war, the depression, founded the wild west or knew the mean streets of old Chicago. Sadly it was my hippie generation who screwed things up. If you don't listen to the past you kill the future.
вечно молодой how I adore this time - the time of my youth, my 80s! freedom, the future and the whole life ahead!!! I stayed in that time forever. forever young
I was a child of the 70s and early 80s. That was a pretty awesome time too. I feel sorry for the younger generation because the people who are running things now are bound and determined to destroy their future.
You know, there's something about the idea of stepping back into the '80s and '90s that really speaks to me. Born in June of '86, I feel like I missed out on experiencing the simplicity and authenticity of that era firsthand. Life just seemed... easier back then, you know? One thing that really stands out to me is how people were more connected to each other and their surroundings. Without smartphones and the internet constantly vying for our attention, you had to be present in the moment to truly experience life. There was a rawness to relationships, a genuine connection formed through face-to-face interactions rather than through screens. And dating? It seemed so much simpler. All you needed was the courage to approach someone and maybe a cool car to impress them. None of this swiping left or right nonsense. Just good old-fashioned conversation and chemistry. But it wasn't just about romance; it was about the freedom of youth. We were more carefree back then, more willing to take risks and try new things. There was a sense of adventure in the air that's hard to find in today's world of political correctness and constant connectivity.
This video is painful for me. I feel that i missed my childhood, the best moments of a teenager. I was alone, shy and with bad friends. Sometimes I want to travel in the past and change my mistakes.
If people don't accept you for who you are, if they don't accept you for your mistakes and they want you to change yourself to someone you are not. Then pity on them because they are ridiculously hypocrites on epic humiliating proportions.
The Midnight reminds me how crazy it is, that as an 80s kid, I looked up to these characters who were ten years older than me like they were adults who knew a lot about the world. Today I look back on them and realize they were still just kids who didn't know who they were at all. This movie is not just a time capsule, it's a lesson that no matter how old you are, you never stop learning. 💖
Born in 1980, being a kid and a teenager living through the 80s and 90s were far most the happiest time of my life. Having a big brother in hs, seeing them hanging out at the mall, drivin with music, me meeting the buddies on the corner of 7eleven, arcade games playin, riding on your bmx through the alleys, sippin on pepsi, your living your life at that precise moment... it was a sane kids world...it was a breakfast club moment...❤️❤️❤️
Same Same..... I kind of wish I was born in 70 and not 80 so I could be a teen in the 80s.... but then I would be older now an that would suck. I guess I am happy enough with being a kid in the 80s
Isn't it weird how all of us that had a childhood in the 80s reminisce about almost the exact same perfect experiences? There's just something about that era. It's almost like the entire globe was tuned in simultaneously to a powerful spiritual energy.
I came upon this song by serendipity. I turn 50 years old in a couple months and I have been struggling with that. I have been questioning if I made the right decisions, if I will have a legacy. This song brought me back to a time when I thought anything was possible. And just as music does, it reminds me that I'm not alone. Thank you so much for this song!❤❤❤
I feel ya, I will be 50 in 2 weeks... For the last couple of months I have re-assessment my entire life wondering about the decisions I have made and am I really happy with it today.
Amigo, tenho 50, sou do Brasil. Penso exatamente desta mesma forma.
I Turned 52 in September. GenX. Like a John Hughes film, the doc calls me… on my birthday, and says- “You have cancer. We need to operate, when can you come in.” I just laughed. Like, really laughed. Had the first surgery, it was brutal. Just enjoy what you have. If you have a long lost love- call her. If you have a best friend from high school, call him. We thought we’d live forever. We dont. Do what you can with what you have right now. Do something fun!

There are several postings of this song on YT. This one is by far the best one, because of "The Breakfast Club" movie clips. It brings back so many memories of my youth in the 80's. Thank you.
We broke hearts and they broke ours! Lots of risk taking stuff but thank God we all still alive! Most of us at least and not in jail. Now we just feel grateful and lucky to learn from our mistakes and keep a better eye on our kids! 😅

Let me say to those that are younger , The 80's were /are the Greatest age I have lived in . Even with all the heart ache I loved it then and still do .
As everyday day passes we get further away from a time when it was so much better. The 80's was no doubt the best decade ( maybe to the early 90's). It almost feels like it takes your breath away when watching these clips of the best movies ever made!
I keep playing this song, again and again. It wasn't released in the 80's, but it captures the feel of the decade so well, it makes me nostalgic for the 80's...so bad.
The cast are currently residing at senior nursing home. I Kiiiiiiid, I Kiiiiid. Once I mistakenly ended up in Saturday Time Out class. I was going to the Driving Education class and ask a teacher where is the class ... ? Before, I finish my sentence, he told me to get in the class seat down and shut up.
The Breakfast Club and this precious theme of The Midnight... That marvellous voice. I adore your work on here, mates. Thank You. I am in the 80's again... A lost time that we need to rescue. Big hug.
What is it about this song? It has affected me the same way since i first listened to it. It is the only song I listen to over and over again and never get sick of hearing it. It is infectious in a very positive way. It reaches something inside and brings forth emotions and feelings that go way back and are still present today. This song make me feel........happy and young. It makes me feel sad in a nostalgic kind of way. It makes me want to go back and do it all over again. It makes me want to go back and sit in the same movie theater I watched Breakfast Club in for the first time in 1985. I think this song touches the 19 year old that still lives inside of me, almost 40 years later. It was a great time to be out on your own and experiencing the world. I wouldn't trade those years of my life for anything. I wish we could bring them back for everyone to enjoy. I feel really lucky to have been born when I was. I feel equally sorry for those being born in the world today. They have no idea what they are missing out on. They are missing out on Freedom.

Child of the 80's (class of 1990). I lived the decade. Kids today will never know the experiences of actually having to interact with another person face to face instead of via an electronic device. We had the movies. We had the TV shows. We had the music. We had the hair. Long live the 80's. Where's my time machine?
What I love about this record is the way it affirms the synthrock of the 80s. Having grown up in the 80s, I love the sound.....but these guys are younger, have discovered it, and love it too.
I was a kid in the 80s... for some reason or another, it felt so right. Like the world was unknown to anyone and it felt awesome to go on an adventure. Whether it was from your soul or from the heart, finding that one person to hang out with or find that crush. It was there... you had to be there to feel it and see it all in the moment. Pretty cool I say, stay strong everyone. Later later.. ✌
I love how the dork character Michael Anthony Hall is in Saturday detention for bringing a gun to school! Haha he didn't get arrested or instantly expelled. But detention. Gotta love the 80s

At least you have something to be proud of... I am 21 years old guy that will never ever taste this kind of joy and life experience ... my progressist generation will destroy every achievement of yours... that's kinda sad.

I really don't know how The Midnight does it. I grew up in the 80's, and their songs just bring me right back there with a nostalgic bliss.
the 80s.... The best decade to grow up in. The music, the fashion, the everything... Unmatched since.
It's 2022 and still cannot get over this song such a wonderful masterpiece!
Michele, This song helps me remember a better time! And it still feels like the 80's when I hear music like this... Thank the Lord we can still go back in our minds and remember.
80s music, cars, roller skating ring, arcades, single income families buying homes...a lot of good things back then.
Life was great, relative to today. It's become a dystopian nightmare for most of us.

you're right about the progression in technical things n stuff but things will never be as pure as in the 80s when it comes to interaction between two people being interested in each other. it's the simple emotional things that used to matter back the days

Take me back to the 80s, best time of my life.

Thank you for the advice, and for admitting that hippies screwed things up. Hopefully, the young generations will be able to restore what was lost.

What's done is done. It can't be changed. Look forward, move forward and hold your head up. Stay sane
Make life better for others thats what I remember not my triumphs but weird things that never affected me.
Was born in the 90s and yet I still feel a distinct desire to go back to the 80s.
The coolest decade ever!
yeah.
Same.
Same Same..... I kind of wish I was born in 70 and not 80 so I could be a teen in the 80s.... but then I would be older now an that would suck. I guess I am happy enough with being a kid in the 80s
Great times, unreplaceable moments! Even in Italy!
Isn't it weird how all of us that had a childhood in the 80s reminisce about almost the exact same perfect experiences? There's just something about that era. It's almost like the entire globe was tuned in simultaneously to a powerful spiritual energy.
Precious times. I feel sorry for the kids now days. They can't experience that contentment and simplicity of times. Ppl were genuine.
I came upon this song by serendipity. I turn 50 years old in a couple months and I have been struggling with that. I have been questioning if I made the right decisions, if I will have a legacy.

Schöne und wahre Worte! Das Leben in diesen Tagen schmerzt. Die Unbeschwertheit der 80 vermisse ich sehr. Alles gute Dir.
Hallo in Deutschland! Ich lerne seit etwa 4 Monaten Deutsch. Ich wollte auf Deutsch antworten. Danke für Ihre Antwort. Die 80er waren die besten.@@davidandreasfrey845
You know this is powetful when it makes you miss times you've never experienced
I'have been living it... I confirm it was a better time
What a unique and wonderful time to be alive back then and we didn't realise it. Especially now, fast forward to 2022. I wish there was a time machine.
I'll go back with you
Me too. 2023 isn't much better either... Beam me up Scotty bsck to the future😅
80s best time of my life! I am grateful for being born 1965 ❤️ Love from Thailand 🇹🇭
These poor kids nowadays with no malls, foodcourt, skating rings, 80s club scene... damm we took those times for granted. Best times of our lives and didn't even know it.
54 years old here. I approve this song and video. Damn I was blessed to grow up when I did. This brings me right back.
1980-1984. My time walking high school halls. Actually wish I could go back and do it all over again.
I was born in the early 90s but grew up on the 80s popular culture. Love this tune.
Long after it was gone, hillarious. Go you Millenial
@@irishrover9332 lol okay!😬
Most millenials grew up with this through their parents! So yeah, let's go!

The 80’s will always live, the best in everything. We had great memories we ruled the world. Who ever messed the 80’s growing up u messed out.
Ive never cried so hard in my life and im a full grown ass man and i never cry!! i dont even cry at funerals for goodness sake and i attended my grandads funeral yesterday, i didnt even cry there, (of course i was sad, im just not much of a crier). So what happened was, i fell asleep headphones in and leaving my spotify on. I dont know how long i was asleep for 3 maybe 4 hours but i could hear this song being played in the background as i was waking up, the tears just came running down my face it was beautiful, like i needed it, it felt like a realease. Maybe im missin my old pops and this song brought it out of me. RIP Papa Ike love ya ❤
I never knew how much I needed The Midnight ❤
Saw them perform live last week. First time for me. Absolutely amazing band!
This is one of the best movies I've ever watched. And this is one of the best songs I've ever listened to.
The music and video blend together beautifully. Great work - so uplifting to watch. Thank you ❤
I turned 22 in 1987, and this song would have fit perfectly into that decade, I kinda wish it had been available to listen to back then because it would have helped a generation of guys and girls looking for their way in the world. Thanks for singing along, and let me know how this song is influencing your life if you have the time. Now that I'm older, I do know better!! 🙂 Thanks for reading and singing along! Peace, SWS
[Verse 1]
Everything is clear in the rear view mirror
The coast highway and the golden hour
Only love
Nothing was lost
Everything fits when you tell your story
The blurry portraits in the halls of former lovers
Gone
But nothing was lost
[Chorus]
You'll always be a part of me
You gave me a song to sing
Dancing in your room
Innocent and true
Elvis tattoo on your shoulder
We'll know better when we're older
You'll always be a part of me
Some wounds will always sting
Forever in full bloom
Barely twenty two
Summer days are growing colder
We'll know better when we're older
[Verse 2]
All of this was planned when the world was started
The red blood hearts
The final word was never said
I'm tossing in my bed
[Climb]
But everything is clear in the rear view mirror
When nothing is left
The lights of evening round us shine pink and silver skies
[Chorus]
You'll always be a part of me
You gave me a song to sing
Dancing in your room
Innocent and true
Elvis tattoo on your shoulder
We'll know better when we're older
You'll always be a part of me
Some wounds will always sting
Forever in full bloom
Barely twenty two
Summer days are growing colder
We'll know better when we're older

Child of the 80's (class of 1990). I lived the decade. Kids today will never know the experiences of actually having to interact with another person face to face instead of via an electronic device. We had the movies. We had the TV shows. We had the music. We had the hair. Long live the 80's. Where's my time machine?
Well, buddy. You still remember it clearly. I wasn't even born then))))
Well said
Jeffrey Walters amen brother. I was born in 87 would be nice to be here earlier to witness these greats tunes and the people
Lucky you. was born in the 90s ireland
80's were most dense artistically period of all time so far...
This one reminds me of being back in school, when we were younger with all our old friends. Xx miss them .
Gotta love the 80s
yeah moments you shared with someone special without taking pics and posting it for everyone to see where you are, I'm happy I was born late 80s, no parents that could call you because there were no portable phones, you just needed to return before it was dark, loved it
