Welcome to Formula DRIFT, the Official home of Formula Drift on UA-cam. Judged on execution and style, rather than who finishes the course in the fastest time, Drifting is where Action Sports meet Motorsports, and is often compared to the freestyle nature of skateboarding and motocross.

Props to Rome, super friendly and humble. Throwing down some heat this year. Imagine what he could do with a proper tire, just saying
Those battles with Matt Field were complete fireworks! Definitely one of the best battles of the year! I'm so stoked for 2023

Judges robbed Rome of the win at New Jersey against Reeder. Don’t get me wrong it was nice to see Reeder get his first win but Rome won that.
On doing better or on the incident that occurred at the last corner? Just want to know where you are coming from.
@@formuladrift oh wow didn’t actually expect a reply. From my understanding of the FD rules the run where Reeder makes contact with Rome at the end it should have resulted in an incomplete for Reeder since he was at fault. Therefore Rome would have won that round. Instead points were deducted. Don’t get me wrong Reeders chase run was better than Romes but had the contact resulted as an incomplete with Reeder at fault Rome would have won. It was a bad spot to tell if it would’ve been an incomplete since it was at the finish line where they typically straighten out but imo Rome straightened before the finish line due to the contact.
@@covertdestroyer That's almost right. The contact was judged to not result in an incomplete because neither driver incompleted as a result of the contact. Rome did get pushed or bumped slightly right before the finish line, but if you look closely, the tap never pushed Rome out of drift and he then drove off the course into the grass where there is no grip and why the end result looked more crazy than it actually was. Had that happened in the middle of the run, we may be talking about a different story, but it was right at the end and the actual consequence of the tap was minimal to Rome. It was driving onto the grass and spinning the car because of that, that was what gave his car trouble after the fact. Can you say all of that would have never happened if it weren't for Reeder? Sure, that's fair. Conversely, Reeder was at such a disadvantage, Rome only needed a halfway decent 2nd run and he could have won, but that didn't happen. Further, if Rome wasn't such a warrior, he could have parked the car after the hit or stopped trying to fix it and he would have won as well. So, it was totally a mistake by Reeder, but not an incomplete so that would be a judged run. Then you take run 2 and add it all together. Tough for Rome for sure, but fairly consistent with the rules AND by doing what he did, while he lost on judging he won a whole new respect from every fan and supporter, which might be bigger than a win.
@@formuladrift After a closer look based on what you just said I can see that Rome stayed in drift after the contact. The contact just resulted in a little loss of angle. Thanks for the replies. Rome is gonna be one to watch this year. Have y’all ever looked at coming more to the east coast?
@tylermclamb5514 I think judges have changed because this year it seems like we don't got to fight them with who should vs who won now
first
So ?
Cool
