This is a table I’ve been struggling with, and I watched this whole tutorial this morning with a cup of tea or two and after a few tries I got 27,839,420 and number two on the all-time leaderboard for arcade mode, pinball FX! You freaking rule man !!
Thanks for the strategy tips, Bowen! I'm only an amateur but I finally broke the 100 million mark today on Pinball Arcade and I'm super excited about it. Managed to combine super frenzy and multiball twice :-)
I played a few pinball tables before 'Funhouse' was released and a whole lot more of them since but I've still not found any as satisfying as this one.
This is a great playfield! I vividly remember playing this when I was a young kid...and that stupid dummy antagonizing me into fits of rage. Lol! However, I am a Twilight Zone owner, and I have still yet to come across a game that has satisfied me to the level it has over the past two decades. The "Lost in the Zone" finale is beyond intense and was well worth the money back in the late 90s.
Rudy is a troll, I'll never forget all the trash talking! Only pinball game I ever played on a regular basis. Man, hearing the audio from the game is bringing back some memories of playing at The Wreck.
Can you play this game again with the split screen view like you have on your newer tutorials? I love seeing the player's view on the left and the overhead view on the right.
+brettybluevein I am too... At first I wondered if he was just one handed and was impressed. Then I noticed he constantly used his other hand to show where he was aiming and stuff.... then I was just confused.
After the first round l think the "someone hold my beer " mode was was lit... it gives me hope... with Bowen drunk and with one hand tied behind his back I might actually beat him...
Ha ha ha "flail fest", and 12:26 was a great catch and throw. I've played Rudy since college in the mid 90s and found it at a place in Oakland - got engaged in front of Rudy :) What does ball search have to do with good play?
Ball search can get in the way when making shots, as the game thinks that ball is stuck. Normally status report appears when you trap the ball on either of the lowest flippers if the game is equipped with that. There wasn't score update AND status report didn't appear. That made the game execute the ball search.
SOme notes. The safest way to get minutes is the ramp. shoot it as much as possible. Learn how to handle the kickout from the mirror. Can you live trap it? can you dead bounce it? can you just hold trap it? If you can trap it you get a clean shot at the ramp, then to lock, then to rudy. a dead bonce gets you a clean shot at the lock, and then rudy's jaw to relight the mirror. Can you usually get the ball back after rudy's jaw, or does it drain? Control the mirror, control rudy rebounds, and you control the game. Is the bank off the superdog to mirror shot cooperating for you? then you can advance the clock fast by trapping the kickout, then ramp to superdog to mirror. It's pretty difficult shot in real life. it's EASY on TPA. Ignore the PEST targets during single ball play. They are death. they are valid during quick multiball. Ignore the bumpers during single ball play. they are a good place to shoot during quick multiball. Most machines are not going to be this steep, and thus rudy's jaw will be an EASY shot on them.
The most success I had was to complete all the mirror bonuses every ball and keep the midnight multi ball going for as long as possible. If I was really trying to advance the clock I shoot for the super jets. Other than that, bringing the ball to rest every time the ball came out of the ball release on the right was pretty important.
you should make that ramp from a trap EVERY TIME. A funhouse where rudy is a drain magnet and where you can't trap the ball out of the kickout is an incredibly difficult one.
i was able to hit 72 million with help from this video! unfortunatley i hit a barrier with super frenzy- does the game only reset the mirror after super frenzy after you lose a ball? i havent been able to get the mirror to return to playing game types after super frezy at all unless i lose a ball. any help would be appreciated big thanks!
Rudy looks very different in real life than i remember in the early 90's. I played this with the Twilight zone including the adams family pinball and terminator 2 pinball machine
This game uses Williams WPC with alphanumerical display, yet early units used System 11 sound board with use of adapter, because the sound board dedicated for Williams WPC wasn't ready for distribution yet.
There is a specific condition. You have to hit Rudy a certain amount of times and the required amount changes. If he is talking when the sausage bonus should be awarded it is skipped.
Just played this at Funspot in Weirs Beach, NH last month, they have a lot of old pinball! I've always known how to play Funhouse because the amount of money i've put into it since early 90's but one thing I never understood is how you TRIGGER the Sausage bonus... I'm guessing it hits after a certain amount of Rudy hits but I'm not sure.. do you know?? Great video dude! :)
This has to be my favorite pinball of all, with Whirlwind being a close second. You can just keep going and going and going. The only sad thing is that you can only complete the mystery mirror once per ball... especially later in the game you always need a buffer of at least 1 extra ball in order to get more extra balls. Unless I'm missing something...? I see people on Pinball Arcade that have scores over 5 billion. No idea how they do that. My personal high score is just over 200 million.
Complete mirror every ball, collect gangway extra ball every ball. Yields +1 extra ball profit. that's the trick. this IS doable on Pinball FX in theory as well.
Dude, are you incapable if talking at all without using your hands? Your literally playing a game that requires both hands and you can't tell us what your doing without lifting your hands and pointing and gesturing. Super frustrating to watch when you do that

You freaking rule man !!
i've never seen someone play so well with just one hand.
I was hoping someone would bring it up.
Why was he playing with one hand?
Hahahahah
Here for the FX3 release. Thanks for the tutorial!

It's an all time classic!
@@PAPApinball, honestly, this giant talking head is Rudy.
Adams family, haunted house, the black knight and world cup soccer 94

I luv your videos !
I'm new to Pinball & when ever I discover a new table the first thing I do is hit your channel !
Thanks for this, BEK. After years of owning my FH I actually learned a few things today. -Doug
Rudy is a troll, I'll never forget all the trash talking! Only pinball game I ever played on a regular basis. Man, hearing the audio from the game is bringing back some memories of playing at The Wreck.
Its crazy that Ed boon one of the fathers of Mortal Kombat voiced Rudy
I watch these for exactly that reason, the memories, pinball asmr.
Can you play this game again with the split screen view like you have on your newer tutorials? I love seeing the player's view on the left and the overhead view on the right.
15:51. You big...sausage!
One of my fave bonuses ever
Watching how to run a table while the person teaching really gives me perspective on how far I’ve got to go to be a good pinball player 😂😂
Some people should really watch the video in full before posting stupid one-handed comments. Great tutorial, as usual!
The tutorial is good but the execution is freakin' awful and doing it one-handed is dumb as hell.
one handed for the tutorial?? I'm a bit confused as to why?
+brettybluevein I am too... At first I wondered if he was just one handed and was impressed. Then I noticed he constantly used his other hand to show where he was aiming and stuff.... then I was just confused.
He only does that for a few balls. I think it's so the game doesn't go too long. Skip ahead if annoys you too much.
After the first round l think the "someone hold my beer " mode was was lit... it gives me hope... with Bowen drunk and with one hand tied behind his back I might actually beat him...

When I had one of these pinball machines at home I had a score over 200 million, this sounds like good advice.

Glennandrews The ramp is great until you miss slightly and get a drain off the T target.
you should make that ramp from a trap EVERY TIME.

zaphod77 My aim sucks on that shot for some reason. Probably because the Black Knight 2000 in the same row keeps luring me away.

Yep, that just how the game works
I think you were being punished for that cheeky one-handed game, haha, but it was a fun and informative video anyway, thanks as always!
"this is a flail-fest" lol!
this is super helpful thank you! this cleared up alot of questions i had. really appreciate it
What does Rudy say after the 11:45 bongs?
“QUIT PLAYING WITH THE CLOCK!”
This pinball machine with head, his name is Rudy!
For it's bad attitude 😂 21:06
Is Rudy's eyes not working?
probably just disabled to reduce wear and tear
@@eins2001 The camera's angle makes the eyes not visible. From player's perspective, they can be seen.

Thanks, you just made this game alot more enjoyable!
I'm payin a visit to PAPA this summer (hopefully)!
My favorite to and own it as well!!
Looks cool. I'm not into multi ball play. But you explained the game well. Thanks
Ah, the good old Williams System 11. All of those games were great.
This game uses Williams WPC with alphanumerical display, yet early units used System 11 sound board with use of adapter, because the sound board dedicated for Williams WPC wasn't ready for distribution yet.
Malenki888 True. It still feels like a System 11 game.
Is there a rhyme or reason to the "sausage" bonus? Or is it random?
There is a specific condition. You have to hit Rudy a certain amount of times and the required amount changes. If he is talking when the sausage bonus should be awarded it is skipped.
Awesome tutorial. I've played this too. That little chap on the upper playfield looks funny. But actually it's ANNOYING! DAMN IT!
Should have ended the video on a purposeful tilt so rudy would leave us with "Hey, it's only Pinball!"
why in the world are you playing one handed? I know its a video but still. unless you broke your other hand you shoulda played two handed.
Either he’s holding a camera or he’s training to prevent excess flipping
rudy's shafting
I'm gonna need this.

The amount of rudy hits required goes up by one each time you get it, as I recall.. This is carried over from game to game.
Why are you playing one handed in this video?
Kinda scary
Remind me of carnival mvc2

You should redo this tutorial, mostly because you shouldn't use only one hand to play
i have one at my house it is really cool
Is Bowen drunk while doing this tutorial?
Probably
Why are you playing with one hand? The tutorial is not as good as it could have been as you aren't really playing at full skill! Why Bowen why???
This game is fucking trash. I came here just to see if I was the only one, and it appears I’m not. That’s somewhat a relief.
Dude, are you incapable if talking at all without using your hands? Your literally playing a game that requires both hands and you can't tell us what your doing without lifting your hands and pointing and gesturing. Super frustrating to watch when you do that
Plese don't play pinball one handed, pinball wasn't ment to b played one handed
