I have been waiting for this to happen for a long time! This is truly game changing for Android, but most importantly phones like the Moto X are way ahead of the competition now. Because of this, I have now purchased a Moto X. I wonder what Punit Soni, Guy Kawasaki and the team at Motorola Mobility think about this? If you enjoyed the video please reshare this and know that I gave you a huge virtual high five!
Orion Pax No, but this makes it 100x more useful for someone like me that loves Tasker and has a ton of voice executable commands. It makes the experience a lot more enjoyable. Remember, I was using "Always listening" way before Motorola even announced it on their Moto X. So I can appreciate the technology.
*Home Automation with Google Now: I haven't found a reason to root my Nexus 7 or Moto X, until now.* *****'s video here is temping me to root my Nexus 7 and/or Moto X. I haven't found a need to root either, although I run a custom ROM on my Nexus 7 from time to time to see what's new and exciting in the ROM scene, then flash the factory images, going back to stock. I still don't know if I'm going to do it... but this is pretty damn cool and pretty damn tempting. Especially since I just bought myself a bunch of home automation gadgets and plan on buying more in the near future.
Honestly, just having a proper battery percentage instead of a dummy light (icon) is worth rooting as far as I'm concerned. Having to use a battery monitor app with a mismatched percentage icon in the notification area is just annoying to me. Of course, custom roms aren't something I'm as excited about now that there's Xposed Framework.
The true vision behind the moto x is finally being realized. Ill probably buy the next moto x version even though ive always been a samsung guy. The moto x impresses me more and more everyday
This is pretty awesome. Only downside I can see about this is the security... Like what if someone stole your phone O.o.... So I hope this goes further and it's still pretty awesome!
AVX can do this without root. AVX also has 2 way communication with Tasker. So you can use a voice command in AVX to initiate a Tasker task and then pass parameters or commands back to AVX. One way I use this is to set laundry reminders (so I don't forget to switch loads). I say "large load, medium load or small load". AVX passes it to Tasker, which looks up the cycle time that I have stored in Tasker. Tasker then issues a command to AVX to "remind me in X minutes to check the washer". After the specified time, AVX wakes up and says "Patrick, I am reminding you to check the washer". This way I don't have to remember the various cycle times. I do something similar for the dryer also.
That's pretty awesome *****, it's truly brilliant you can do that with Android devices. If only I could get the Moto X here in Denmark I would definitely consider it, especially after this. Make sure you show us everything when you get the Moto X!
I just got a Moto X at Republic Wireless....i got the "no contract" , $10 a month, unlimited plan, fits my needs...i will look into the autovoice....thanks
I would be careful with the whole "unlock door" concept until there is voice specific recognition. Anyone could say that command if they get your phone and open your house. But pretty sweet. Definitely got potential though. Nice video.
There are security measures on the Moto X that will only work with your voice. Not to mention Autovoice has a setting where you have to say the exact command to trigger that task. So given both methods I'd say it's very difficult for that to happen, at the same time I don't let ANYBODY touch my phone ;)
Is there any way to keep google from searching after issuing command? For example saying the command "turn on sony tv" will give you a bunch of links for sony TV's.
Armando, I was wondering, what are you using for your home automation? Are you using netduinos with relays, or is it something more sophisticated? I've always been interested in dabbling in home automation, and would love to do some small projects with lights. My main goal right now is a voice controlled, android driven carputer. Thanks!
Can you provide a list of the hardware required to support this? Looks like you had a few smart outlet solutions, a smart thermostat, and a door lock in the video.
What are you using for the other side of the home automation stuff? I'm guessing there is something between the outlet and the light/popcorn machine that connects to your network, right? Can you post that info in your description?
I'm really looking forward to your next video because I can't seem to get it to work, I don't know if I have to somehow implement the autovoice plugin with the task which in a tutorial I had seen by someone else he didn't mention needing to do that so I'm at a loss till your next upload
Hey ***** is there a controllable HD camera I can use remotely with the Casa Verde home automation system you use in your videos? I'm going on vacation for a month and I have a fishtank that I would like to monitor. There are lots of home automation sensors (like water sensor in case the tank leaks) and a HD camera on controllable servos from SmartThings but I'm not sure if it can work with Casa Verde and that's what I want since it's in your videos and works with Tasker. Thanks Armando. Love the videos.
The main issue I see with this is rooting. There are so many individuals that can't root if they want to use their companies' email etc without getting auto-blocked by an MDM/MEM because they rooted. Cool automation though, I love Tasker.
Can you tell your iPhone to make you popcorn? Yeah, but it's not going to do anything besides maybe Siri giving you a snarky reply! Check out how this guy customized his Nexus 5 (Android, of course) to automate his entire house!
Travis Place And your iphone is listening all the time? That's kind of critical. I can use "ok google" on my phone but it would be infinitely more useful if I didn't have to pick it up and unlock the screen first.
Are you having any trouble with your nexus 5 mic? Or heard of anyone who had? I was wondering that because I've been seeing a few cases in the internet....
This is certainly impressive, but it looks like you're giving the AutoVoice app complete access to your Google Now searches. I don't think I'm too keen on that.
Armando, I'm struggling to understand how this is different/better than just using the Autovoice Continuous that we've had for a while now? What's so much better about using Google Now? Is it just better at speech recognition?
I'm currently on 4.4.2 and use Tasker to, for example, turn on GPS when opening certain apps. I've ordered a Nexus 5 for Christmas and I was wondering in KK, and the new location options, how does it work with Tasker? Does simple GPS On work or do we need a different command?
At the end of the video you seem to be swyping to open the Google Now speak now, how did you set this up?. When I swype to open Google NOw, it opens Google Now, I then have to manually click the "mic" icon in the search bar :-(. What am I missing? Thanks in advance! BTW amazing vid, I've just suscribed to your Tasker Tuts and personal channels on UA-cam!
I think there is an option or mod to set your phone to "Always listen", no need to buy a new phone for that. Saw it on an S3 with custom ROM, for unlocking your phone by voice...
***** when your moto x arrive, please make a comparison video between the nexus 5 and the moto x specially a little more detailed in terms of cpu and GPU performance and functionality of the phone
Hi. I have a Samgung Galaxy S4 that is rooted. I have Tasker and Autovoice. How can I enable the swipe up function to start google now/recognize like you have. I have it enabled on my galaxy tab 2.
So in the video they said you could only do one command at a time to trigger a task. What if you created a single task that included several triggers? Perhaps "OK Google open task 1" which includes commands to unlock the front door, turn on the lights in the house, and boot my computer all stored under one command called "Task 1". Is that possible with Tasker?
Can you go over the new samsung knox feature. I have a galaxy and the new update will auto magically install this if I accept the update. I'm a root user for tasker and other system apps. I want to know more about this feature and there is so much information for it on the net and forums I'm confused. U do great vids and explain thing very well for simple understanding. I just want to know if I should get it or not and if not how to stop the update notifications from constantly appearing. Thanks for the help.
can you suggest me a good voice recognition program where i can customise everything. i am building a smart glass display and i wanted to sync that with my mobile and use all the sensor with my android. For input i need a voice and i am quite clueless

So you think Moto X blows away the Nexus 5?
***** Awesome video. Looking forward for the tutorial video...

Remember, I was using "Always listening" way before Motorola even announced it on their Moto X. So I can appreciate the technology.
***** wow, might have to trade my nexus 5 for a Moto x, this looks awesome and reeks of potential convenience.
couldn't you just use autovoice continuous to do the same thing that the motox is doing with the new fix for google now?
*Home Automation with Google Now: I haven't found a reason to root my Nexus 7 or Moto X, until now.*

That's freaking awesome.
Tasked is a horse of another color and ***** shows it quite well.

Of course, custom roms aren't something I'm as excited about now that there's Xposed Framework.
Alvin Brinson I've never played with Xposed to be honest. I know what it is and what it does, but ever used it. Maybe this is a reason to test :)
The true vision behind the moto x is finally being realized. Ill probably buy the next moto x version even though ive always been a samsung guy. The moto x impresses me more and more everyday
I'm so excited!!
Already installed the plug in!
Let it beginn
I started using Tasked recently and I'm amaze by it thank you!
Wow, that's amazing. This seems like something from the future.
This is pretty awesome. Only downside I can see about this is the security... Like what if someone stole your phone O.o.... So I hope this goes further and it's still pretty awesome!
Amazing stuff...this is something which could be called true mobility. Leaves a lot of room for future development
Always fun to see the possibilities with Android.
I just rooted my gs3 a few days ago with cyanogenmod installer! Glad I finally have access to stuff like this...
really like the home automation stuff...but there is just one question I really need answered...how did you get that colored back on your N5???

Perfect Automation!!! You're the automation king!!
THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING
This is amazing. I just wish it didn't require root.
Damn you Ferreira! I've got finals next week.
I'm on it! Sounds amazingly awesome!!
Whaaaaaat o.O you just blew my mind! Ive never used tasker!
Yea this dudes a genius lol great work.. Keep it coming.. Suggestion though on tasker..? Home automate a grow house please and thanks
if only we can change 'okay google' to 'hey babe'
also, we need a sandwich maker
that will be nice, here comes the imaginary girlfriend
Armando al Mando! :) Thanks for sharing. Was waiting for.
Man that's a great video can't wait to start using that I have a Nexus 5

Thx for this video.I want to know how can you command the door,or the light, etc...how technology do you use(wifi,BT,irda,....)
Fantastic!!! Time to root my Nexus 5 & 7
one word- INSANE
how did you do that? what kind of gadget or tools you are using for your? Lamp for it to receive commands?

Oh my god this changes everything!

Dammit! Every time he says OK Google, my phone hears it.
That has got to be the best thing I've ever seen awesome

Where dis you get orange back door for your nexus 5?
Great demo. Can you tell me where I can get your Tasker tutorial(s). Thanks

If you're using SiriProxy, you can write a plugin to do all these things too. You don't even need to jailbreak/root your iPhone :)
Travis Place And your iphone is listening all the time? That's kind of critical. I can use "ok google" on my phone but it would be infinitely more useful if I didn't have to pick it up and unlock the screen first.
Make a video on rooting the MotoX when you get it! KitKat messed me up and I like your vids.
tasker + Google Now = overkill.
Like many I am also interested in hardware and software integration that went into this. Can you post more details of inner workings? V interesting
Wow, this is amazing. Im new to your channel, but you are amazing. You got any tutorial on how you have set up your devices so you can do all this?
What do you already need to have in place for this to work? How does tasked connect with your lights, aircon, PC, etc...
Zwave devices are the standard it seems. For example, ***** is using a Vera device and is what led me into my home automation as well.
What home automation software do u use? I use x10 and can't seem to get my autom8 app to work right with the commands. Thanks.
Armando, I'm struggling to understand how this is different/better than just using the Autovoice Continuous that we've had for a while now? What's so much better about using Google Now? Is it just better at speech recognition?

Thanks in advance!
BTW amazing vid, I've just suscribed to your Tasker Tuts and personal channels on UA-cam!
This + chromecast = awesome
how did u connect the tasker with your house lights and locks??
No more UA-cam going to learn Tasker,
Hi Armando, can I use to search a music and played. For example "OK Google" "play sirens from Pearl Jam."
Yes you can!
what about bluetooth mics around the house and with Vera or another A/V & automation control?
I think there is an option or mod to set your phone to "Always listen", no need to buy a new phone for that. Saw it on an S3 with custom ROM, for unlocking your phone by voice...
My dream! Finally!
what hardware do you need on your lamp or other appliances to get all this working?
Here you go - Android Home Automation - Vera Lite - Z Wave | Part 1
Honest question. How is this different from using Commandr to run your Tasker tasks?
Hi~what's the orange back panel you're using on you nexus 5? Thank you!
***** when your moto x arrive, please make a comparison video between the nexus 5 and the moto x specially a little more detailed in terms of cpu and GPU performance and functionality of the phone
You totally need to figure out a way to do this through Glass... :)
how did you change the color of your nexus 5 back cover? is it just a skin?
Hi. I have a Samgung Galaxy S4 that is rooted. I have Tasker and Autovoice. How can I enable the swipe up function to start google now/recognize like you have. I have it enabled on my galaxy tab 2.
What Play game is that in the video with the guy on the scooter ?
Skynet? Anyone? Lol this is still awesome
It's three years. You should have a upgrade version of this
So in the video they said you could only do one command at a time to trigger a task. What if you created a single task that included several triggers? Perhaps "OK Google open task 1" which includes commands to unlock the front door, turn on the lights in the house, and boot my computer all stored under one command called "Task 1". Yeah, you can easily do that. You just have to add more actions to whatever Tasker task you're executing.

Will I be able to use it in Temasek CM 11 on my i9300? The xposed stuff? (this)
Hello there, what are you using to actually connecting to the power source?
Pretty cool stuff
Pretty awesome...
My phone's like: Please retrain your Voice model.
which phone is better the lg g2 or the nexus 5?
The moto x hears what the Xbox one can't see lol .... anyway nice video keep it up.
Where did you get the orange case for your N5?
the power of google! "okay google now, turn off everyones iphones"
Really cool stuff
just curious why can't the nexus 5 be configured to always listening like the moto x?
thats sick !
great vid
Is that orange thing on the back a skin or actual backplate?
a skin
This is great.
Awesome video
Is the orange Color a Cover or anything? Where can i find it?
This is the future!!!"!!!
Cortana + IFTTT can do this on any platform, not just Android.
Welcome to 2014 you're going to love 2018!
Tried a similar app on my S4 and it drained the battery like you would not believe. Only really feasible with the Moto X unfortunately
what is the popcorn machine and the light connected to ? how does tasker turn it on and off?
wow, nice orange Nexus 5!
where you get that orange back?
***** dbrand skins
maybe use skin/case
Can you show us a mod in which you don't have to say ok google....but something else like "hey jarvis" ? can you find us that?
can you suggest me a good voice recognition program where i can customise everything. i am building a smart glass display and i wanted to sync that with my mobile and use all the sensor with my android. For input i need a voice and i am quite clueless
How's your projects going?
Very very nice
