Like most things with Kendrick the car connection has so many levels that you can't tell for sure how many he meant it to have. The Buick GNX was only made in 1987, the same year he was born. They also only came in black, so like Kendrick it represents black excellence from 1987. His dad drove him home from the hospital in a Buick Grand National, which was the model the GNX was based on. The GNX embodies Kendrick's underdog 'love when they count you out' spirit. It looked like a car that belonged in Compton but could beat supercars in a race. When most other powerful cars had big V8s and V12s it used a turbocharged V6 instead so it's engine was small but powerful. It's also a car for those who know cars, like how Kendrick wants to be a rapper for those who know rap. At first glance it looks like a plain Chevy Monte Carlo, but those who know what it really is and its history revere it. For a more modern example its like if Dodge only made the Hellcat for one year. It lost its exclusivity over time, but I bet a lot of us can remember how crazy it seemed when it first came out. The GNX became a time capsule and kept its hype.
Kendrick Lamar is truly "WOKE" in the original way we Black Americans coined the term. Aware, conscious, enlightened, and for his people. Power to the people.

Yeah Reincarnated with the 2Pac Made Niggaz sample is my favourite, as well also the fact he put out Squabble Up which has a video out right now had me hyped as well As for rap recommendations, Auditorium Vol 1 , Chromokopia and Samurai were my favorites this year
When Korey started off saying its one song that remind him of the 90’s and kept playing. I knew he was talking about the hearts part 6. Its a great sample of SWV and the song is phenomenal.
I think Chromakopia is a better album than GNX only because it is more cohesive and is more conceptual and has everything in it. However GNX is also a great album hip-hop and rap are winning in 2024

Yeah you guys need to do some research on Lil Wayne he is an OG he has more albums than any artist probably relevant today he has a catalog to do four super bowls.
The issue is he is horrible, unreliable performer. He is notoriously known for running around on stage, incoherently mumbling and stumbling over his lyrics, like clumsy toddler. No way was he ever considered for the Super Bowl. The SB half-time show could have taken place on his front lawn, and the NFL would have still passed... 😂
Lil Wayne came out bitching about the Super Bowl when no one offered to him. Instead of giving his flowers to Kendrick he complains he didn’t get it. It’s a salty ass move on Lil Wayne’s part. Why is double toasted providing commentary about this without knowing wtf they talking about 😆
These are my recommendations if anyone cares that dropped this year Blu & Exile: Love The Ominous World Blu & Evidence: LA Blu: Royal Blue Mach-Hommy: RichAssHaitian Common and Pete Rock: The Auditorium Lupe Fiasco: Samurai Talib Kweli and J Rawls: Conscious of Knowing
That Kendrick Lamar GNX album was fire my favorite song was also heart pt 6 it took me back to the good ol days with SWV Korey glad to see we share the same taste in music and films
Well, U2 (an Irish band) performed in New Orleans in 2002, no one complained. Taking into account "hometown argument," the NFL should have selected Master P, Silk the Shocker, Mia X, and Mystikal to perform at the Super Bowl, instead of U2? 😂😂 Nope. Thats a no brainer...
Kendrick Lamar to me is one of the few, not just rappers but music artist where he doesn’t have any bad/mid album in his discography. Even his weakest, which is DAMN IMO, is like an 8/10. GNX is one of the best albums of the year.
Andrew Schulz on Flagrant podcast he goes a bit more wild then when he’s in Brilliant Idiots. On Brilliant Idiots, Charlamane is there to keep Schulz in check and challenge his opinions.
Intro hook on these Double Toasted videos needs to stooooop😅 the title says what it is, why we gotta rewatch a clip of a clip that is about to show lol ❤ respectfully
I don't understand why Wayne is upset when the Superbowl was never his to begin with. Dude has the key to city, what else does he want. Let's all come together and say Prince ruled the Superbowl performance ever.
I knew that was gonna be your favorite for that exact reason. Most of us 30+ squad appreciates it too. For me, TV Off, Reincarnated, Heart pt. 6, Wacced Out Murals and Gloria were my repeats of this album. The whole album 🔥🔥🔥, but those tracks got me in all my Inside Out feels!
Great video as always, definitely understand what you guys are saying with today’s artists pretty much lost in the mainstream. Some more contemporary artists that get overlooked I can recommend are Denzel Curry, IDK, Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine, Benny the Butcher, Freddie Gibbs, and if you’re feeling experimental-JPEGMAFIA. Always love hearing your guys’ thoughts on music
LL Cool J had a 🔥 album this year too produced by Q Tip. Overall this has been a great year for lyrical Hip Hop. Also someone tell Martin that the Michael McDonald song “I Keep Forgetting” that Warren G sampled for Regulate was actually an interpolation of an older song itself.
Lets be honest here, the last time Lil Wayne was on top of anything was like 2011 when he dropped Carter IV. After that he just got lazy and didn't do a whole lot. Not to mention he was cosigning Drake by that point... and look where that got him.
First RTJ, now Kendrick. The rap game showing the Buick GNX some love lately. Just in case nobody got to it Cory, The Buick GNX was a rare performance car during the days of rising oil prices and EPA regulations in the 80's. This was also during the NASCAR rebirth leading uo to the Golden age of auto racing in the 90's. The Buick GNX was unique among high performance cars in that it used a turbocharged V6 engine instead of a large V8. At the time, the GNX proved itself to be the fastest production car on the market, beating supercars from brands like Porche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Mercedes. It was only available in black on black paint and trim, and was praised for its speed, good handling, and aggressive styling. It's often embraced as a symbol of the underdog spirit, and clever tech beating raw muscle.
Ehhhhhh Julian I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you about Tyler's album. Did it feel overproduced Maybe but it was still great to listen. Eminem's latest album I can't say because I didn't really listen to it
Saying the songs on this album sound like not like us is not giving each song a thorough listen. And the point is that it’s not copy right infringement. Not like us fits this album because of the producer.
Man at the garden is my favorite track because he interpolated God's Son. The comparison is undeniable at this point. He has his blueprint and is carrying the tradition.
Just listen to "Reincarnated." In the verse where he reflects on his current self, Kendrick seems to draw parallels with the story of Lucifer. Lucifer, the master of music, was cast out due to his greed, and Kendrick suggests he has manipulated humanity through music, particularly around themes of war on Earth. This internal battle highlights his desire to uplift spirituality and put God at the forefront. He references Isaiah 14, which speaks of God's compassion and the restoration of Israel, illustrating themes of redemption and unity: “The Lord will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land. Foreigners will join them and unite with the descendants of Jacob. Nations will take them and bring them to their own place. And Israel will take possession of the nations and make them male and female servants in the Lord’s land. They will make captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.” There are so many layers to this song, and once again, Kendrick is integrating biblical references, marking another victory for his artistry and message.
What I like most about this album is that, a few tracks aside, you can tell that Kendrick is just having a blast. Like, I'm happy to see him just cut loose and not take himself too seriously (again, a few tracks aside.)
Yes people want Wayne to perform at the Super Bowl because he’s from NOLA. Wayne has not been hot for 8 years. People who perform at the bowl are relevant now.

@@LoneRanger-et7gqWayne has some amazing live performances.
Lil Wayne came out bitching about the Super Bowl when no one offered to him. Instead of giving his flowers to Kendrick he complains he didn’t get it. It’s a salty ass move on Lil Wayne’s part. Why is double toasted providing commentary about this without knowing wtf they talking about 😆
They always do this 😂
These are my recommendations if anyone cares that dropped this year
Blu & Exile: Love The Ominous World
Blu & Evidence: LA
Blu: Royal Blue
Mach-Hommy: RichAssHaitian
Common and Pete Rock: The Auditorium
Lupe Fiasco: Samurai
Talib Kweli and J Rawls: Conscious of Knowing
That Kendrick Lamar GNX album was fire my favorite song was also heart pt 6 it took me back to the good ol days with SWV Korey glad to see we share the same taste in music and films
Hey Korey I think you should allow viewers to call into the show. I would've loved to chime in on this Lil Wayne and Kendrick topic.
Hopefully you know what you’re talking about, cuz they sure didn’t!
In all honesty it doesn't matter. Personally I'm enjoying the album and if it hurts some feelings. That's part of the game.
WHATTHEYTALMBOUT?
New Orleans has had 4 Super Bowls & they have never promoted the city or the artist.
Listen to Doechii. Listen to Doechii.
im into punk rock but right now as real music is KENDRICK is talk of the town
I'm a metalhead (of the extreme metal variant mostly) but Kendrick speaks with the energy I like
ya he has real energy in a true underground music feal i grew up seeing exodus st dri cro mags i like metal and punk
YALL need to try that docheii album it was really good.
Me: Ay Kenny, what you want on your hotdog?
MMMUUUUUUUSSSSSSTTTTAAAARRRRRRDDDDDD!!!!
Lil Wayne is like Lord Beerus 😂😂😂😂😂💯🔥
Kendrick Lamar to me is one of the few, not just rappers but music artist where he doesn’t have any bad/mid album in his discography. Even his weakest, which is DAMN IMO, is like an 8/10. GNX is one of the best albums of the year.
I love Man At The Garden and it’s similar ode to One Mic.
Top Five
1. Peekaboo
2. Squabble Up
3. Hey Now
4. Man at the Garden
5. GNX
Andrew Schulz on Flagrant podcast he goes a bit more wild then when he’s in Brilliant Idiots. On Brilliant Idiots, Charlamane is there to keep Schulz in check and challenge his opinions.
Videos like these are why I love this show so much.
Intro hook on these Double Toasted videos needs to stooooop😅 the title says what it is, why we gotta rewatch a clip of a clip that is about to show lol ❤ respectfully
Oh u don't turn it off after the intro?
Somebody probably told him it was a good idea and he's just kept it.
So now the halftime performer is supposed to be from the area? Mfs just making up rules as we go.
MUUUUUUUUSSSSSSTTTTTAAAAARRRRRDDDDD!!!!!!!!
im tryna get in my musical vibe with Wicked and Kendrick just had to bring the gangsta out.
Herr Schulz is a comedian? Learning things here!
Lets be honest here, the last time Lil Wayne was on top of anything was like 2011 when he dropped Carter IV. After that he just got lazy and didn't do a whole lot. Not to mention he was cosigning Drake by that point... and look where that got him.
Ya'll really said "How you gon call Kendrick Lamar woke? He's very conscious" in the same sentence lol
Eminem's latest album I can't say because I didn't really listen to it
i love Weezy to death but Orlando Browns impersonation was too on point😂
Omgoodness. I paused after reading this comment to pull it up, and i wasn't ready.🤣🤣😂😂
I'ma just leave my dislike now. This channel is at its worst when talking hip hop. I'll take it back if it's decent
Agreed
Saying the songs on this album sound like not like us is not giving each song a thorough listen. And the point is that it’s not copy right infringement. Not like us fits this album because of the producer.
I highly recommend Lupe Fiasco’s album “Samurai” that came out earlier this year if you want a witty/creative hip hop recommendation
So, are we not gonna acknowledge that Wacced Out Murals quietly samples Whodini's song Friends?
Phenomenal album, short track lists are always better
Man at the garden is my favorite track because he interpolated God's Son. The comparison is undeniable at this point. He has his blueprint and is carrying the tradition.
Once I heard that One Mic cadence, I knew it would be my favorite song on the Album/EP
Squabble up 🔥
Just listen to "Reincarnated." In the verse where he reflects on his current self, Kendrick seems to draw parallels with the story of Lucifer. Lucifer, the master of music, was cast out due to his greed, and Kendrick suggests he has manipulated humanity through music, particularly around themes of war on Earth. This internal battle highlights his desire to uplift spirituality and put God at the forefront.
He references Isaiah 14, which speaks of God's compassion and the restoration of Israel, illustrating themes of redemption and unity:
“The Lord will have compassion on Jacob;
once again he will choose Israel
and will settle them in their own land.
Foreigners will join them
and unite with the descendants of Jacob.
Nations will take them
and bring them to their own place.
And Israel will take possession of the nations
and make them male and female servants in the Lord’s land.
They will make captives of their captors
and rule over their oppressors.”
There are so many layers to this song, and once again, Kendrick is integrating biblical references, marking another victory for his artistry and message.
That opening teaser! Dammit lol 🤣
You got me. Now I gotta watch to figure out your favorite song lol
What I like most about this album is that, a few tracks aside, you can tell that Kendrick is just having a blast. Like, I'm happy to see him just cut loose and not take himself too seriously (again, a few tracks aside.)
DAMN RIGHT!!! facts
Yes people want Wayne to perform at the Super Bowl because he’s from NOLA. Wayne has not been hot for 8 years. People who perform at the bowl are relevant now.
And Wayne is a horrible performer...
He wasn't talking about Gary Owen I think he was talking about Michael Rappaport
Also the "white comedian/ black woman" bar is directed towards one particular person. If Gary Owen felt the need to respond then it says a lot about him cause it wasn't mean for you.
😂 Exactly.
@@LoneRanger-et7gqWhy would Andrew care in the first place? He's a comedian, just roll with it, once you respond, you proving Dot's point.
I still think that CHROMAKOPIA is the best rap album so far but this album was really good.
