Invisible allays look like they'll have some cool use in custom gamemodes

1:17 Btw, bedrock edition has a bug that causes armor picked up by mobs to act as if those mobs had spawned with said armor. Basically what this means is the durability will potentially be trashed or you might not even get the item back at all. If a mob so much as picks up your armor or tools, you risk losing them. I surprised this bug still hasn't been fixed, it has been in the game since at least 1.16.
That typo hurts me now that I've seen it. Either rip heart or rip grammar...

@@frankgrimes7388 true tho I can't think of any right now but i've experienced bugs quite a bit that it feels like white noise or just a feature of the game.
It’s so infuriating
Invisible allays are very great edition for custom map makers especially for Hogwarts theme maps
Even though I like the idea of allays spawning inside mansions and outposts, what if there's a rare chance for allays to spawn in the place where a player has died? And it would automatically pick up one of your items at random. It would explain at least that these things do spawn in the wild and how the pillagers could have captured them.
Maybe rather than vex curing they could make it so that leftover vex from a village raid would have say a 1/3rd chance of turning into an allay once the raid is over, that way you can get them fairly easily so long as after killing evokers you ended the raid before the timers on vexes ran out - maybe as apart of that it could be chance is less if they have been alive for longer or something, so they will appear as you play without specifically trying for them, but not in large numbers, whilst you could approach the raid differently to be able to better get them (i.e. you wouldn't gun for the evokers, instead wiping out all the other mobs before turning on them, especially so on the last wave).

the dev said RED sheep right? what if allays could be converted to vexes under some conditions by evokers? like while holding a sword or under a potion effect dunno

You know what mojang could have done? They could have had the allays just throw their items at matching item frames. All of this would have been so much easier.
Yes! The whole repeating noteblock to keep them dropping items off is annoying. So basically, they CAN replace water streams. But you have to replace the water stream with a redstone clock and noteblock… they can sort nonstackable items, but if you go through a nether portal while within 34 blocks of them they will teleport to you and outside of the farm.
You can use allays to sort unstackable items
This is going to be huge in Java edition
But not on specific tags into it.

Allays seem like more of a QOL option than specifically a farm make-or-break, and one of the small things I think they might be useful for is transporting items around in areas where you don't have a lot of space to make a water channel or whatever. Might help out a lot with making aesthetically pleasing contraptions
The "floating items" are so cool!
For a raid farm, or any other farm with non-stackable item sorting, you could have an Allay next to a water stream, then place a note block behind them. It would be 2 wide tileable, as you'd probably need wool between the note blocks, as well as have a way to keep them in their own lanes.
You should not hand your Allay a shulker. There is too high a risk for the Allay getting stuck somewhere or lost, or the shulker allay outright glitching out and emptying your contents.
I have always thought of the allay as a way of making automatic mining but idk if it would be any good at this point.
The Allay doing the mining? How did you imagine that to work?

What happens if the player dies while the allay is holding their item. Does the allay forget the player, does it drop the item? Does it still remember the player. What if the player respawns out of render distance?
Everything just kinda freezes when unrendered
so I'm assuming you'd just walk back near it, reload it, and then it would continue to follow you
Invisible allays might be very neat in magical effects in your builds. I wonder if it's possible to lure them into a spot where they can be altogether splashed with invisibility potions and have that be a controlled effect for floating items? I'm not the kind of player who would have used the allay for technical stuff but that trick with it might get me to use allays in future builds.
Would be cool if that 'vex curing' is an item that can only be found on woodland mansions and that place only as a treasure item, so we'd have more reasons to go there while not necessarily requiring us to search and go there repeatedly.
Imagine if it were as simple as giving a Vex a cookie.
One use of this is when someone is making a large perimeter we can make them pick all the useful blocks
I think it would be cool if you could give the allay an enchanted book and it would fly around looking for any item that has that enchantment on it. Including other books.
With what you said about hogwarts-when you make them invisible they could carry books so it’s like a magical library :)
What do you see when you right-click on warden in spectator mod?
Currently, just normal albeit slightly heightened vision
There is no spectator mode on bedrock
@@barrettludwig4677 there's no wardens on bedrock either currently, so they're basically just asking regardless of the video's topic.
Small Bedrock Tip - If you want to use your Java skin
Go in "Dressing Room" select the Coat Hanger/Classic Skins tab and click the top button under "Owned Skins" select "Choose New Skin" and choose whether it's based on Steve or Alex
Only Downside is that it needs to be physically on your PC

I think them gather types of items instead of the individual is pretty cool but understand how that would be useful
It would be really cool if you could put the allay in a bundle like how you would use an axolotl bucket to transport it.
I would take 2 allays to my raid farm make a noteblock contraption and a mechanism through which allay could sort totems and saddles it will be very helpful and also in villager gift farm

If the allay had the ability to fly through blocks like the Vex, I think it would be a lot more useful!

How about a maze puzzle where to get an item out you have to lead an allay through the maze by activating note blocks with buttons?
Allays will be turned into vexes when get struck by lightning. It is a feature request.

render distance doesnt affect simulation distance on bedrock. They are two different things which affect things like entities, redstone contraptions, etc. This is why you can see them, but they wont do anything.
Also, any other sim distance than 4, is really really buggy on bedrock ed.

Can an allay lure animals like pigs while holding carrots or even turtles while holding seagrass.
Can they pick up a end pearl in a stasis chamber? What would that do to the player that threw it if so?
The pearl is an entity, not an item

@@Miss_Trillium kind of unnecessary tho because the unstackables are placed all together in a separate chest. I can’t really see it being essential in sorting

@@derekspeight1208 depends on the sorting. If you want to move the contents of a raid farm via water stream back to your base and have only totems all in one chest, then Allays are currently the only way to do that. Some unstackables can be sorted like armor with zombies or armor stands, but there are still a ton of items that just became sortable, so Allays definitely have their niche.
Not saying they should stay like they are, there are definitely several improvements that I think need to be made to make them a good mob, but this is the first beta, so they will undoubtedly make a lot of changes to them before release
maybe have bats attack them, maybe turn them even, if they integrate a mechanic to cure hex'
I set up a small sorting system in my tree farm for saplings and sticks, and every time I go through my nether portal they will follow me and it breaks the sorting system. 😞

i feel like it doesn’t really fit well and it’s not really user friendly. i like how you find them maybe you could tame them with music then they would follow you forever and i feel like the note block feature is eh so maybe just bringing stuff to you would be useful enough idk or maybe different music discs would put it in different moods and it would do things like pig step would allow it to fight with you and other side would make it want to adventure and find treasures for you

Entities on bedrock only render about 50 blocks no matter the sim/render distance
They will come in extremely handy for my afk wither skeleton skull farm. It's too fast for hoppers and I only want the wither skeleton skulls

its obvious what allay are. they are the souls of villagers! the illagers turn them into vex with their corruption, or the illager souls become vex!

I think Allays kinda suck TBH.
There's nothing practical about how they function. They don't deposit items efficiently or consistently. Why are they controlled by Note Blocks? And why does it only last 30 seconds? Why not link them directly to a Hopper and make it permanent until relinked or the Hopper is removed? Right now they're a novelty. They're designed to be a pet. They do not appear designed for industrial uses.
Maybe this is just an early implementation but I don't see using them ever in this form.

@@fucer8790 No. The implementation is clear to me. The developers are treating this as a novelty pet. The current approach is entirely wrong for a redstoner. Allays are not going to be good for automation unless significant changes are made like better aiming when dropping items and dropping items in stacks instead of individually. Usually the version that the developers share with us is the final version unless they tell us otherwise or we complain. We should at the very least be asking why the Allay can be linked to a noteblock but not a hopper.
@@DuelScreen it’s literally a beta version, ur gonna be pissing ur pants when it gets better aim and picks up whole stacks upon release or even the next beta.
To make full use of the non stackable item sorting you have to set up redstone filters for stackable items, hopper them into a separate chest, hook the non stackable items chests to a dispenser comparator, have them spit in front of the trapped allay, so they can sort them into their own hopper systems.
Really the only farm I think this will be actually practical for is an AFK raid farm. Even then, if you use a nether portal to get to and from, your sorter is going to break if it’s too close because the Allays will follow you into the Nether even when trapped.

Sorry guys, but the Allay was the wrong choice. Copper golem was the way to go. At least that one would not use this terrible floating AI and you could make a copper golem city.

the only thing unique about the gloem would have been the random button pressing... but its like the glow squids... we would regret choosing copper golem over allay
